Description of Work: The owner of Blue Star fixed and installed a couple of broken dimmer switches. He had to re-buy one of the switches he purchased because it didn't fit, and he didn't charge us for the extra time. He was punctual, friendly, and competent. I will call him again in the future.

Description of Work: He reattached the electric meter to the house and checked where the electric service enters, as the meter had been gradually shifting over several years. He also installed two LED undercounter lights in the kitchen. He was prompt in phone contacts, though he could not schedule me immediately because he was busy, as good electricians often are. He visited my house for an estimate, and he kept in contact by email so we were clear on the price and the specific work to be done. He was punctual for both the estimate and the work date, and the work was done well. He cleaned up properly afterward. I recommend him.

Description of Work: We are installing an EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) system in our store to prevent theft. The equipment would not stop beeping near the door. The salesman said we needed a dedicated circuit and I called Blue Star to install the circuit. Hank analyzed the problem and determined we did not need the circuit (which would have been in the hundreds of dollars to install in this old building) and that something near the door was triggering the problem. The vendor's tech support team was not at work yet, so Hank told me to get the literature on the equipment and call tech support and he would return the same day if necessary. The vendor guided me through turning down the sensitivity of the eqjuipment (Hank suspected this was the problem) and I was able to get it to stop beeping continuously.

+ 0 moreThe job went perfectly and I am amazed at how my living room looks with the new lights. The electrician, Hank, added two new switches so that we could switch some of the lights separately. It came out great, and he didn't even make any drywall damage in the finished part of the basement. He put bootie covers on his boots which I thought was nice, and he cleaned up after himself. He was very pleasant to deal with and I am going to call him back to put some more gfci's on the outside of my house, and also put a circuit for my sump pump, which right now is run on an extension cord.
Description of Work: I had some very recent flood damage in my basement and there was some drywall work being done. So I thought it a good time to do other work like add some recess lighting in the basement living room. I got the number for Blue Star Electric from a friend at work and called them for an estimate. They came out right away and gave me a reasonable price. We ended up adding 4 recess cans in the basement, and changing the trims on two that were already there. While the guy was there, I had him add an outlet in my daughter's bathroom which is off the basement. He said it needed to be gfci and also be dedicated.

The job was cleaned-up thoroughly when he was done. Prompt response. Fair quote. Showed-up on time, finished as promised. It went very well! Before he left I talked to him about a couple of other jobs I want to do as soon as the upstairs is finished. He will be the only electrician I call from now on!
Description of Work: I'm finishing the second floor and it needed total electric ran for lights, fans, cable plus service for baseboard heating. Everything needed to be done.

+ -1 moreHank is the BEST. He was always courteous and very responsive. We had tons of questions which he was able to answer and making us very comfortable working with him. He made sure we knew what to expect regarding power outages and advised us along the way as to what he was doing. He painstakingly went over each of the items when completed and better yet the inspector gave him major kudos for the entire job.
Description of Work: Removed existing panel and provided a new 100 amp main circuit breaker panel. Installed a whole house surge protector, provided proper grounding electrode conductor to ground rod and water supply line. Installed keyless fixture in laundry area, new feed for coach light at side door included with switch at top of kitchen stairs. Reworked loose GFCI over our kitchen sink, installed a receptacle on an existing circuit for gas range control panel and removed landscape lighting on our back deck.

+ -1 moreHank responded in a very timely manner to my request for an electrician to troubleshoot a GFI circuit breaker that would not reset. I had a hunch that it was a blown circuit breaker due to the fact that I had removed all of the known load from the circuit and it still would not reset, but Hank explained that for safety's sake he wanted to take a look at the outdoor outlets that were on the breaker to ensure there was not something else going on. He did this in a very timely manner and then quickly narrowed it down to the fact that it was indeed a bad breaker. He replaced the breaker and finished up the service call within an hour.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot and replace broken GFI circuit breaker.
