I contacted Jeff Geiger through Angie's List. After an initial miscommunication, it was smooth sailing. We met again and after getting the initial estimate, I asked him to take the job. I explained that we were not in a hurry as we were doing the entire kitchen/family room renovation ourselves with the help of family members. That was no problem for him and he let me know he would continue to work on other jobs until we were ready for him. When I let him know we were ready for the floor, he and his brother, Matt, came out on a Friday afternoon to get prep work done. Then they asked if I would mind if they worked on the weekend!! Of course I didn't mind! It took about 2 months for the whole job to be completed, but that was because of my crazy schedule. The floor is absolutely amazing...a first class job all the way. This was by far the most stress-free part of our renovation. I can not say enough about how great this experience was. The Geigers are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with. They are very professional, very honest and genuinely kind. They communicated well with me, offering ideas and suggestions not only on my flooring but on other areas of the project as well. They were always prompt and a few times worked well past quitting time! I am extremely happy with everything that they have done and I would definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: Installed a heated great room floor.

Dear Michele, We apologize for any confusion. We emailed you the estimate on April 3rd around 9:39pm. We did not hear back from you so we thought you had went with somebody else. Is it possible that we have a different email? We still would be happy to do your project. Please feel free to give us a call 216-973-6430. Thank you! -Jeff & Vickie Geiger

The tile we selected we were told by several tile people that it was the most difficult tile to work with. Jeff did a great job! All of the tiles were very tiny about finder nail size or smaller. Many he had to place individually because they detached from the sheets due to the cold weather. Jeff evaluated our project and had great suggestions for us with how to do the tile. We ended up wrapping the inside of the window and going all the way around our window. Worth the money!

We purchased our home with the original 1972 slate/tile which was ugly, dark and chipped (hideous to say the least). We scoured over Angie's List for good reviews and received at least 5 quotes. Jeff was the most fair based on price and was honest that he would take a smaller job, in between his larger jobs. Other people brushed us off for our smaller job. This is a busy company, but I view that as a good thing, you know that they are excellent at what they do since they are so popular. Totally worth the wait! The quote was right on price point. We completed the demo and bought the tiles and grout on our own. So when Jeff arrived with his brother (Matt?) they could get right to work. Last minute we decided to put a pattern to our front entrance way and bathroom, Jeff had no problem with this and even got excited because we choose a pattern he has never seen before. He only charged us an extra $150 to measure out the pattern and make all the extra cuts to put it in. Totally worth the money because it took the normal floor from good to WOW! We sent Jeff and Vicki photos of our job, hopefully they use them on their website. Jeff and Matt arrived on time and were extremely pleasant, we even had fun conversations and coaching on volleyball techniques. Jeff laid the tile while Matt cut with the wet saw. Our next tile job (remodeling master bath) we will definitely be using Geiger Stone & Tile, I would highly recommend their services. Thanks again and Happy Holidays.

Design and execution were first-rate in all aspects, within the established budget (with a few change orders), and within the established time frame. Communication during the entire process was excellent.. The two remodeled bathrooms, which were out of sync with the rest of the already modernized home, are now completely up-to-date and both functional and attractive. Jeff Geiger handled all the required purchasing of tile and stone for the project, and he made the arrangements for the selection and purchase of the two vanities. I recommend this contractor for remodeling work, and I would be glad to respond to requests for references (Al Schupp; e-mail aoscss@aol.com; telephone 216-932-0960). Cost includes a modest amount for related purchases and painting services from other sources. The above mentioned date of service is the date when the project was completed. The project took several weeks to get done.
Description of Work: Total remodeling of 1 bathroom (removal of old wall and floor tile, partial reconstruction of shower walls, installation of new floor and wall tile in bathroom and shower, also edge-lighted mirror; removal of old sink and fixtures, installation of new vanity and fixtures (with assistance of subcontractors). Partial remodeling of a second bathroom involving replacement of sink with new vanity and installation of edge-lighted mirror. Jeff Geiger, owner of the company, developed the plan for the remodeling based on some general ideas I provided. He and his brother Matt did all the work with limited assistance from subcontractors.

I selected Geiger Stone & Tile based on Angie's List reviews, and because the job seemed to require a true professional (a handyman I normally would have used was unwilling to tackle this job since he said he could not tile over the existing surface, and removing old tiles would make the project very expensive). Jeff also told me how much the floor was going to rise, since I was also planning to have the front door replaced and didn't want any change in floor height to be an issue, whatever the order I scheduled the two projects. The scheduling etc. was done primarily through email (Vickie Geiger was the contact for that), and it worked out fine, though occasionally it took longer than normal to get a response to email. We purchased the tiles (120 sq ft, just a little over what we needed) from Lowes. Jeff and his brother did the work, and they completed it over 2 days. Since the foyer was the only pathway between the bedrooms and living areas of our ranch house, Jeff made sure that a narrow walkway was marked and always available for us to go back and forth inside the house, while the tiling was being done. The foyer now looks great! We will definitely contact Jeff again if we need tiling done again in the future.

This was a BIG job - I estimate about 3,000 sq. ft. of new natural stone tile! Jeff had to work hard to level the subfloor throughout the house prior to installing the new stone. He was careful to lay out the tiles by grouping them by pattern. (There can be a lot of variation in natural stone.) We had a little glitch with the grout color in the kitchen, but Jeff quickly corrected it by customizing a grout color that was perfect. In the master bath, he figured out how to install a modern trough drain, which looks like a rectangle in the shower floor. He leveled the shower floor properly for our zero clearance door, with the result that the floor stays dry when the double showers run. In addition, in the kitchen he removed a glass tile backsplash that someone else had incorrectly installed, and then expertly installed new glass tile. Jeff was very neat and always professional. I would recommend Jeff in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Jeff removed old ceramic flooring and installed 18x18 limestone in my kitchen/foyer/laundry and 18x18 marble in my master bath and shower stall (floors, walls). Also installed a glass tile backsplash in the kitchen. Last summer he installed travertine tiles in two other bathrooms, including a tub surround and a shower stall, plus floors.

SI contacted Jeff for a quote to tile my foyer and bathroom. Jeff was very informative on the phone and it was very easy to schedule a time to meet him. He was extremely responsive and it was easy to confirm the time with him the day of the meeting. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, my builder -- without my approval -- permitted another vendor to put the tile in. This was an unfortunate surprise for both Jeff and I. However, though Jeff is not doing any work for us, I can confirm that he was extremely punctual and easy to schedule with. Should I need additional tile work, he will be the first person I contact.

Everything went exactly as planned. Work started when promised and progressed exactly as they said it would. I love the look and feel of the new floors and the showers. All looks way better than I had anticipated. The installers were really helpful and worked very hard to get the job done as perfectly as could be expected. I highly recommend them to anyone who is a fussy customer. They are the BEST!
Description of Work: Demo work in kitchen and two bathrooms, removing cabinets and toilets and sinks from kitchen and two bathrooms, removing carpeting and padding and many layers of vinyl/linoleum from kitchen floor, prepping concrete floors for a total ceramic tile floor installation; help in selecting a tile I love and a pattern that is beautiful; installation of ceramic tile in both bathroom shower stalls; building a half wall in the shower in the master bathroom; removal of all debris off premises, as it accumulated, day by day. They cleaned up very nicely after themselves every day, something I very much appreciated.

Geiger stone transitioned my dingy old bathroom into a work of art! They completely rebuilt my bathroom wall and tiled my floor. They had done work for me before and I didn't even hesitate on looking for someone different this time. Heck, I didn't even ask for a quote. I was so pleased last time and he was so fair, I just asked him to do the job and send me a bill. It was extremely fair and well done. I love the fact that these guys like what they do and they are good at it. What a relief to find a contractor that keeps to his word! I can't say enough good things...I have worked with several contractors and they are one of the best. This is the second bathroom I have done in the last year and can't believe how difficult it is to get someone to show up on time and do the work they promise...Geiger knocked it out of the park for me.

I contacted Geiger Stone and Tile in Nov. 2012 for an estimate. It took 2-3 calls & emails to schedule a time; I think his wife handles the administrative aspects of the business. I did eventually get a hold of them, and Jeff came and evaluated the job, and promised an estimate. I was supplying the materials, and he was quoting the labor, and anything I may have been missing. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. In Dec., I realized that I had never received the estimate, and contacted them again. They were apologetic, and said they had misspelled my email address. They re-sent, and I received the quote, which was competitive. In early January, I contacted them to schedule the work. They had trouble providing me a date, because Jeff was working on some new construction, and couldn't specifically identify when it would be complete. I contacted them again as time progressed, and got on the schedule for early Feb. Jeff and his assistant arrived on time, and worked diligently, finishing the job quickly. They are truly craftsmen, and the job they did is AMAZING....they do beautiful work. He also crafted a shower shelf out of a single piece of tile...very neat and looks great. finally, he saw how one of the walls next to the shower was in pretty rough shape, after we had removed the wallpaper. He recommended tiling that wall as well, and the results look much better than a patch and paint job would have come out.
Description of Work: Jeff retiled our entire bathroom, which included the tub/shower surround, wall above the toilet, and floor. He also replaced the cement board in the tub/shower surround, before tiling.

They never e-mailed me. I e-mailed them. After I wrote a review they then called and left a message on my answering machine, I never herd from them again. I think my job is too small and they don't want to bother. I do not think i would feel right with these people doing work for me. He did tell me he had a big remodel bathroom job.
Description of Work: This guy came out and looked told me he would e-mail me an estimate. Never called me or e-mailed me. He was out here 3-17-2013. I e-mailed him because I thought he lost my e-mail address. His wife e-mailed their child was sick. They never had the courtesy of calling me to tell me why he wasn't going to do the job. I thought it was funny he never gave me an estimate when he was here. I wanted the back splash done over my kitchen counter and some repair work done on my tile floor. Also new coving under my counters on the cupboards.

Dear (Member name removed), We apologize for inconvience. We cannot give an accurate estimate until material selection and design have been figured out. Your project also had water damage and cracked tile, of which you really need to see what other underlining issues there are. We emailed you to let you know of the delay because our daughter was very sick and ended up having surgery. We called twice and left a message after we found material samples. We did not hear back from you, assuming you went with another company. We wish you the best and hope you get your project completed. Sincerely, Jeff & Vickie Geiger Geiger Stone & Tile.

Badly. They never even showed up to perform an initial quote despite them sending several emails expressing interest in the job. Choose a different company. Cleveland is a big city with a number of competent craftsmen who would like your business!
Description of Work: Terrible communication and follow through - I initially contacted the Geigers by phone more three weeks ago. Vickie did not return the original phone call, but did return a subsequent email several days later. We exchanged three pleasant emails back and forth. I waited at least three days each time for the Geigers to respond. I repeatedly asked to be contacted via phone. That did not happen, but I was promised in Vickie's most recent email "Jeff will stop over Saturday to give you a quote. Call him to arrange a time". I called him the day I received the email and asked for an 1100 appt, but I just got voicemail. Called two days later. Called this morning to confirm. Went to the home (it is 25 miles away and not my primary residence). Called twice this morning to confirm. He never showed. I'm more than a little irritated. How rude and unprofessional. I would suggest looking elsewhere to work with a company that values your business.

The job went very well with no problems. They worked quickly, quietly, and efficiently. They cut tile in the garage, as this was done in December freezing temps. They hauled away all the removed flooring debris. The final floor looks very nice, and the workers (two brothers) were very personable and willing to explain the process as well as answer any questions I had.
Description of Work: Our kitchen vinyl floor was torn out, leaving an older vinyl floor which appeared to be the subfloor. They covered it with cement board and then in sections, adhesive and 18" porcelain tiles which I had purchased in advance. They then grouted the seams. Finally, the baseboards which I had removed earlier were replaced and nailed in with finishing nails. Sealing the grout was not part of the estimate, as I had planned on doing that myself. Before they left, they explained how I should apply the sealer and what tools to use, and they also left me some sealer that they had on hand. A few weeks later, they came back at my request to finish grouting one spot at the edge of the room where one tile was cut slightly smaller than its neighbors.

Jeff & Mike Geiger did a superb job of designing to our specifications. They always checked with us (the homeowners) if there were questions instead of doing everything their way (as many trade people are prone to do). They were extremely courteous, punctual, and timely in their efforts. We are extremely happy with the work that they did.

Great I would recommend them to my freinds
Description of Work: They removed my bathtub and installed a shower. They suggested building a 5' wall and having no shower door. This appealed to me since I hve showers with glass doors and they are a nuisance to keep clean. We put a nitch in the new wall for shampoos etc. and also move the control valve just inside the wall so the water can be turned on before you enter the shower. We used travertine tiles and they created some design by turning the tiles on the diagonal. We also had them tile the floor. They started the job on monday morning and worked solid thru the day. The work was completed at the end of the day that friday. On monday they came back to do the final coat of sealer. They we two brothers, very nice and very hard workers. I was very impressed with them.

Jeff is an expert craftsman with a strong design sense and pleasant/conscientious personality. If you are looking for a custom job - or even if it?s not custom but you want top-of-the-line work - he is for you. This was the fourth bath (in the second house) he?s done for us and he has nailed each one. Getting this bath done was an organic and collaborative process. It evolved as we went through it. As soon as we saw the first of the floor tile laid (beautiful ceramic 6 x 36 planks designed to look like wood) we decided to take it all the way up the walls. The result is stunning. Jeff introduced me to that floor tile, being familiar with my taste, and was willing to think out of the box and shift gears quickly to accommodate our positive reaction to what we were seeing unfold on the install. I wanted as much natural light in the bathroom as possible. Jeff oriented the shower plumbing to face an existing floor-to-ceiling window and built a frame and tile shower tower to hold the plumbing. He deigned it so that it narrowed in the middle to allow views out the window while showering. Lastly, we had originally planned for a 3/4 shower wall (no glass) but again, as the project developed, we began to lean towards an open shower, and Jeff was able to adjust his design to fulfill our vision. We really enjoyed working with Jeff and his brother, Matt, and love our bathroom. Our master shower is impressive, with clean lines and high functionality, and gets lots of raves.
Description of Work: Geiger Stone and Tile completed a custom project for us, turning a walk-in closet into a master bath. They were hired for the design and installation of shower and tile. The services provided were (a) assist with tile selection (b) demolition of old slate floor (c) prep - filling and leveling the floor after the plumbing work; preparing walls, necessary after another tradesperson demo (d) design of shower tower, zero threshold shower (curb-less), shower, recessed shelves and tile walls (d) Tile installation - built a custom mud pan; taped and skimmed seams, applied cement scratchcoat and waterproofing in shower area. Installed 6 x 36 plank tile on the floors and walls. 2 x 2 mosaic tiles on the shower floor. Built a recessed niche/shelves for shampoo/soap.

Jeff at Geiger Stone & Tile was great. He returned my call quickly, set an appointment to look at the job and then followed through with the job working around my work schedule. It was a small repair job that he treated just as importantly as a major job. The price was fair and work was professional. Jeff was polite and cleaned up the work area when finished. I will definitely call him when my kitchen counter needs to be updated. Since this was a small job it was very beneficial to use Angie's List to locate contractors within a 5 mile radius such as Jeff to make the job worth it to him.
