COLONIAL CABINETS INC

Our general contractor, Borowske Builders, steered us to Ken and Colonial Cabinets because we wanted stained cherry cabinets. Ken invited us to tour their showroom and production facilities to make sure the product they produced was what we wanted. Ken then came to our home for consultation. We had some ideas of what we wanted and Ken created a design that was tweaked and ultimately turned out great. We could not be happier with the final product.

Colonial Cabinets was one of those great finds - a local company, employing local craftsman that beat the big national brands in quality and bang for the buck. When it came time for the cabinet portion of my kitchen remodel, I can thank my builder Don Borowske for directing me to Colonial Cabinets. Don indicated he had used Colonial for a few years now and convinced me I can have great cabinetry with all the features of the national brands that are better built at nearly the same cost. He was absolutely correct despite my initial skepticism, in fact It prompted me to pay a visit to Colonial prior to going ahead with the project. I met up with owner Ken and he took me onto the floor of their workshop going into great detail regarding wood selection, fabrication, and finishing at the various stations within the plant. It was apparent this was no and quot;garageand quot; operation - it is a state of the art factory that allowed for precision crafting of cabinets. And having seen cabinets in various stages of construction as well as the finished product, I didn't need any more convincing that this is where I needed to have my cabinets built. We then scheduled a visit and Ken came over and measured my kitchen, made a suggestion to eliminate a soffit if possible to permit them to install floor to ceiling pantry cabinets. In addition, he offered some suggestions on cabinet design and layout given I was changing from a U shaped floor plan to an L shaped with an island. All that was left for me to do was decide on a stain and fixtures for the cabinets which I did on subsequent visits to the shop. The cabinets take approximately 2-3 weeks to build, allowing for cure time for the finish. On installation day, the crew arrived promptly at 7:00 am and immediately got to work placing the cabinets. The crew was excellent led by Jeff, a very particular installer who would accept nothing less than perfect during the install. By 4:30 they were complete with the installation, trim work and clean up taking only a short break for lunch. Subsequent visits to install an appliance garage after countertop installation and to stain nail hole filler with cabinet stain were again done promptly and professionally. In essence, I can't thank Ken and his crew enough for doing an excellent job of building and installing my cherry cabinets. I would not hesitate to recommend them or to use them again for any future cabinet needs.

I hired them as a recommendation from Don Borowske, the builder that I hired to remodel my bathroom. I called Ken Sooy the owner the next day. He was very helpful and informative and suggested that I come to his showroom and workshop for a tour. I went the following weekend. The shop is very impressive with state of the art equipment even though much of the work is done by hand. He showed me different types of wood that I could choose from as well as hardware. I set up an appointment for Ken to come to my house to measure, he came within a week. The cabinet was finished within 6 weeks as promised. It was installed by one of his workers, Dave and Mike from Borowske Builders. Ken also constructed a matching piece to go above the medicine cabinet and mounted the light fixture to it. The vanity is beautiful solid Hickory. After the vanity was installed , Ken called me the next day to see that I was completely satisfied with the work.
