Overall the work went well. This company had to work around rainy weather, and completed the jobs in a timely manner. We are very satisfied with the work on both the outbuilding, and our house.
Description of Work: Amish Builders installed vinyl siding on our outbuilding and also put a new roof on it. They also removed our gutters and replaced them. They did an excellent job on all three of the projects, and left the jobsite clean, with no cleanup on our part.

Horrible!!! We called 4 times and left messages and still no return call from them. We contacted the Better Business Bureau and Kinsman Amish Builders / Kinsman Vinyl Supply wont respond to them either.
Description of Work: Kinsman Amish Builders aka Kinsman Vinyl Supply was contracted to remove the picture window in the living room to the dining room and install a new bow window in the living room. A defective window was installed on 12/30/2010 and the company's owner Phil Jackson and his son Zak said that they would contact the window company for the replacement window. We called 4 times in a 2 week peroid and we are still waiting for their return call. We called the window company and within 2 days a rep was at our home to look at the window, he then ordered the replacement piece. 1 week later he came and installed it himself. He said he nor the window company never heard from Amish Builders about the problem. He was also not very happy with the work that was done. The trim on the new window was not installed properly. There were gaps at the miters that were factory cuts. The window opening was cut too small for the window and when it was pushed thru the opening it cracked the drywall. The dining room window was the worst instalation of any window in history. Here the drywall was also cracked. A bowed board was used for the bottom of the window frame.Zak tried to tell me that the was the crown in the board and the board was not bowed. The custom bent metal was made in 2 pieces and looked horrible as well as the 6 nails that was nailed into it to get the wrinkle out of it. The board was tilted back so water would run into the window instead of away from it. The metal sofitt was cut so they could install a header for the window instead of removing it, and cuts were covered with 2 pieces of bright white metal. The soffitt should have been removed and reinstalled. The siding had scratches and groves in it after they were done. The yard was left a mess with trash and debris.Caulking was smeared on the tree in front of the window. When it was pointed out, the owner laughed and blamed it on another worker that was not there. They were to start the job on the 27th and they decided to cancel it. Except they forgot to call me and it cost me a days wages and my perfect attendance for the year which I only had to make it to work for 3 more days.

Response from AMISH BUILDERS INC
Kinsman Amish Builders, Inc. was contracted to install a bow window in the residence and scheduled on Monday December 27. That day, I called her phone and left a message at around 7 am that we would not be able to install. I apologize for the delay and we scheduled the work for Wednesday, which took place with her father present to supervise the installation process. Wednesday, she called and stated that there were "issues" with the work. On Thursday 30th, we went to the home and addressed their issue with the trim around the front window. They approved the work as satisfactory. There was also a part of the grid work in the glass of one panel that was crooked. I said I would contact our representative. They then raised issue with the exterior trim work on the outside, specifically the flat sill that was installed, which was valid. They also raised issue with the cleanliness of the site, which was also valid. Not having material to fix it then, we returned Friday, repaired the sill work and cleaned the site further. Both of them inspected the work and were satisfied at the time, and rendered payment for the job. Our window rep informed me that he had been contacted by them and was addressing the glass repair. We believed everything to be satisfactory at that point. Since then we have received complaints about aspects of work that were addressed and approved by them, as well as new complaints. We have tried to contact them by phone and by mail, in an attempt to resolve this matter, but have not received a response to date from them. Zac Jackson-Sales
