They were great. I called and asked a ton of questions over the phone. When I got there they helped me pick out my trees, load them and instructed me on the planting, care and how to get the best fruit from them.

Wes, the designer, came out and discussed what we wanted to do. He has had prior experience with rain gardens. We agreed on what was to be done and the price. He came back with a crew of 2 and put the gardens in. It took one day, including the modification of the down spouts. They cleaned up the area afterward and left it looking great. Then we had the 75-80 mph windstorm that swept through the Midwest two days later. The gardens came thought untouched.

The man showed up on time and was very friendly. He worked quickly and fertilized all the areas that I instructed him to cover. I had priced out corn gluten at a retail organic store close to my home and was planning on doing the work myself. Marvin's came out and did the fertilization for me at the same price it would have cost at the other place and Marvin's did the work.

We use Marvin's Organic Lawn Care to keep our lawn nice, without chemicals. We were able to fertilize on schedule in September because organics won't burn out the lawn (unlike conventional fertilizers). Marvin's also suggested a slit-seeding to regrow areas that didn't come back from the terrible drought conditions this summer. We've got lots of new growth now! When we bought the house 7 years ago, the lawn was 70% weed. There's very little weed now and Marvin's is helping us keep it that way. They're easy to work with and while it costs a bit more than the large-chain chemical applications, it's worth it not to worry about putting all those chemicals onto the ground. Plus they always come out at the peak time, which probably wouldn't happen if we tried to do it ourselves!

Wes Duren is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to understand my needs and respond to them. He was able to find stone that was a close match to my 100 year old foundation. The new plantings look so good that strangers have stopped on the street to admire them. One of my neighbors stopped by to admire the work and now Wes is doing a job for them as well! After the job was done, Wes came out and spent a lot of time with us, reviewing the plant care needs for each plant since my husband and I are not gardeners. He even noticed that a couple of the plants were not doing well and replaced them, along with some grass that hadn't taken hold. We are now working with him to develop a long term plan for the back yard as well!

We were trying to avoid using pesticides and harsh fertilizers on our lawn, and all others who provided estimates suggested removing soil and replacing with sod. Instead, Marvin's suggested an approach that was focused more on building the strength of the lawn to exclude weeds. They provided options of varying cost in their estimate. They came out and completed the work in one day. Vertical slicing was used first on the entire yard. Then they seeded the entire yard with a mixture, that is supposed to be more hardy. Compost was added on top of that, then straw on top to protect new grass seed. The only issue we really had was, that a lot of rocks were in the compost. The crew leader offered to come out and pick up the rocks, but ended up doing ourselves. In about a month we saw considerable improvement in the amount of grass growing, in places it never did before.

They are very friendly, likable and easy to work with. Very responsive.

This has been a great experience. We've gone from 75% weed to less than 10% in a short time, and it's all organic!!! This year my yard was so lush they let me skip one of the fertilizations;all I had to do was ask! It's a little more expensive, monitarily, than the chemical companies but I don't have to worry about the kids or pets being on it or pesticides getting into the water supply, so it's well worth it.

WE HIRED MOG BECAUSE WE WERE INTERESTED IN ORGANIC LAWN AND GARDEN TECHNIQUES AND BECAUSE THEIR PLANT SELECTION IS AMAZING. ALL THE ASSOCIATES AT THE GARDEN CENTER ARE ENTHUSIASTIC AND EDUCATED ABOUT ORGANIC METHODS AND PLANTS IN GENERAL. YOU MIGHT FIND THEM A BIT LAID BACK BUT THEY ARE HELPFUL WHEN YOU NEED THEM. THE LANDSCAPING TEAM, HEADED BY WES DUREN, WAS A MIXED BAG AT FIRST. WE ARE HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME BUT THAT IS BECAUSE WES DOESN'T STOP UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY. HE IS A PASSIONATE AND GIFTED HORTICULTURIST AND GREAT TO WORK WITH BUT HE NEEDS BETTER SUPPORT FROM HIS FIELD TEAM. IT SEEMS THEY ARE TRYING TO CATCH UP WITH RECENT GROWTH IN THE BUSINESS SO PROBLEMS ARE SURELY TEMPORARY. NEVERTHELESS, WE LOVE OUR GARDEN/LANDSCAPING BECAUSE OF ITS UNIQUE DESIGN AND ATTENTION TO ALL-SEASON COLOR AND SENSORY EXPERIENCE (LOTS OF GREAT SMELLS AND WONDERFUL TOUCHABLE PLANTS IN ADDITION TO COLOR). DESPITE BUMPS IN THE ROAD, WE'LL BE THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR A LONG TIME.
