Marvin's Organic Gardens

These people are the best. They had established our plantings and rain garden a few years ago, and we had neglected it. They came up with a plan to re-establish the gardens and we’ve been doing monthly or bimonthly service since. They are amazing at their work, and exceptionally kind to this aging couple with chronic health problems. I am especially pleased to know that my dog and other animals won’t be poisoned by chemicals. We will begin monthly maintenance again in March.

We thought we had a new house. What a difference professional landscaping makes! The owners of this business are extremely knowledgeable and talented. The men who did the actual work were impeccable. Each step of the process flowed seamlessly from obtaining the initial quote to examining the finished project with our team. You will find this business to be warm and friendly yet always professional. Thankful for Angie’s List where I discovered them!

Wes & the entire crew @ Marvin's Organic Garden did a wonderful job helping us redo our back patio, including building a custom grill. Wes helped translate our 'loose' backyard idea into a great plan, and offered reliable sources for the work they could not do on their own. Very well... the owner did the walk-through with us. He spent a couple of hours systematically going through the yard, making suggestions as to pruning, mulching, tree trim/removal. Actually a lot of fun

The same crew did all the work throughout the summer. They were always pleasant and professional and did a great job.

There were some things that went really well and some that did not. One reason it's taken me a year to post this review is that I'm still waiting for a solution to an issue we're having with little luck. Wes does a great job with landscaping work as it relates to fixing and creating new beds. His crew pays a lot of attention to detail and take the time to do it right. They're great at removing and installing new trees as well. We did have some issues with the plant choices as they did not seem to be an appropriate fit for certain places. We did most of the work deciding on which plants and where they should go. Wes did make some great recommendations on trees and fineline buckthorns. I highly recommend you don't have them do any wood work with decks or staircases. While the structure is good, the steps were not installed evenly spaced and the top boards do not sit flush together. We had the steps fixed once and we're still waiting for the top boards to be replaced. We were promised this would happen months ago. Reasons for the ratings: Overall - Fair: This would be good to excellent if we had better luck with the staircase. At the same time when Spring 2017 came, we had more weeds than we ever had before. I'm not sure why. Other than that, all the beds were wonderfully done and our new birch tree is doing well. Price - Good: While expensive, Wes did come down on price to meet a competitive bid. We had three contractors come out and Wes was the best one and seemed best to work with. Quality - Fair: For same reasons in Overall. Responsiveness - Bad: This is the most frustrating piece. Wes and company are very difficult to get a hold of and get a timely response. This was throughout the project as they have so many to attend to. The worst however is the lack of response to our staircase issue. Punctuality - Excellent: I have to say Wes's crew was always on time and worked hard. His crew is great at the landscaping portions. Professionalism - Good: Wes and crew are always professional and good to work with. The lack of responsiveness at times makes this a good and not excellent.

Very well. We received a plan consistent with a review we conducted with Wes (owner of Marvin Gardens). Wes has obvious expertise plus a concern for good gardening and customer satisfaction. Further review & collaborative discussion led to a few changes. Work was done promptly and expertly.

Excellently. They were especially good at letting me know when they would be at my home. Very friendly professionals at all levels.

Mark who did the work was very thorough and completed our job in less time then expected. Was very professional and took time to discuss concerns with us.

Overall the company was very communicative and up front concerning necessary delays (concerning weather) and worked closely to avoid miscommunications and misunderstandings. Mark, when he arrived to do the work, spent the time necessary to determine what I wanted, asked the right questions, and volunteered a lot of useful advice and information on lawn care. Finally, the work was well-executed.

They did a good job but very expensive. Found other providers just as good for considerably lower price

This is the third or fourth year that the team of Kyle, Josh, and Tee Jay from Marvin’s Organic Gardens has worked on our lawn and garden. They really know our property and do the work as though it is their own. Not only do they complete the contracted work in a professional and efficient manner, but never cease to surprise me with some extra finishing touches. They always go that extra mile, which we truly appreciate. They are a most pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable team of men and are always happy to help in any way they can. I’m forever grateful to them for their help this fall with the removal and storage of our garden statuaries. Further, their cleanup is absolutely.... phenomenal. Not a shred of mulch out of place! Seriously. They made our garden the envy of the neighborhood. I would recommend them without hesitation to any and all for any type of garden and landscaping work.

Work crew was conscientious and professional. Since completion end of September, we have had several episodes of rainfall. The completed job has performed as expected and we are satisfied.

Crew arrived on time. The work was rained out early on day one. They returned early on day 2 and completed the work. They crew was professional and knowledgeable. They work steadily and fast I will be using them again.

Wes has a great knowledge of plants and provides detailed lists and estimates quickly, usually the same day of his visit. All of the projects mentioned above were performed by Marvin's Organic Gardens at very fair prices and the works as been excellent in every case. All of the workers are knowledgeable and totally professional.

The Marvin Gardens crew did a superb job. Wes' design ideas were the answer to our desire for an overall approach to the back yard, and the main reason we selected MOG for the job. The project lasted many weeks. They were always very professional, easy to work with, and pleasant to have on site. The quality of the work was exceptional, with careful attention to detail at every step. They enhanced the project with their professional judgment and made the changes needed when there was one point of miscommunication about one part of the deck enclosure project. And their approach to do things organically and taking advantage of the natural setting were an added plus to the whole thing. We are very pleased with the results and would hire Marvin's Organic Gardens again without reservation.

It went well. The first time they had somebody come out and do the drainage, it was done very poorly. They came out to do another, the second stage, the guy who came out said we should fix that before moving to the next project. I can't fault them because they fixed it and I wasn't charged for it. The guy, it was over his head, he was out there by himself(for the first part). Would definitely use them again.

It was perfect. They were honest. They schedule easily and communicate perfect.

Not well at all. Wes came on a rainy day. I had to tell him to walk around the yard. I do not think he knows how to grade the land. He never mentioned anything about how he would slope the yard. There is a standard as to how many inches the slope should be for every 10ft. There was hardly any kind of material mentioned besides the use of some soil and pine needles. All the costs are in the LABOR, but there was no estimate of how many hours each project would take. He wanted 50% ADVANCE PAYMENT WITHOUT HAVING DONE ANY WORK! Several of the projects could be done in a few hours, so they get paid when they are done. They are not having to advance large amount to buy material. Their estimated cost for soil, pine needles, or pellets (I am not sure what that is) are but $20-30, per project. Give them 50% and they do not show up or kept delaying. In fact they called twice to move down the schedule to come do the 4hours work. I am not comfortable working with this company. I have asked Angie for REFUND of this purchase. Angie already process my request.
