The woman came twice, her boss came once to re-measure, then nothing. She had quit and when I spoke with him he just gave me a price over the phone, I have no idea what was included, or not included. They must have enough business without mine.

Great. We still occasionally just look at the kitchen and wish we'd have done the remodel years ago.

The process of getting a new kitchen was explained thoroughly by our project manger, Bruce. He stepped us through what we needed to do to get things rolling which could have been scary, but our fears were put to rest. Choosing the cabinets, floor tile, appliances, lighting, sink, and countertop went smoothly. Appliances were purchased and delivered on time using a recommended distributor at better prices than the big box stores. The work crew was fantastic. They cleaned up before they left for the day and let us know what time they would start the next day ... They always showed up on time. We've never experienced such professionalism in a work crew. They obviously cared about the quality of their work. We would unequivocally recommend KBD.

Punctual and completed the work in a timely manner. The cleanup after was great. KBD did our kitchen sometime back. Everything they have done for us has been nothing short of perfection plus the fact that the owners and workers were all friendly but professional. Not a single complaint regarding anything done.

April, 2014 we signed a contract for a complete custom kitchen remodel. The job included removing walls, replacing flooring, new cabinets, counters, backsplash, new gas line, new vent line for range hood, removing existing lights and installing new LED can lights and pendant lighting. The agreed upon price was $43650. The job was supposed to start June 2nd and take four weeks. We paid them a $14550 deposit when the contract was signed and another $14550 when the work started. The day they were to start construction they showed up to advise me the floor and cabinets weren?t in yet. The project would be delayed indefinitely unless we picked out a new floor. When the new floor was installed around the middle of June they damaged most of the walls in the kitchen and dining room (leaving holes, dents, and scratches in the walls) in the process, and left exposed nails in the basement ceiling (it?s a finished basement with an open ceiling). None of this was repaired. They didn?t paint any of the trim, you can still see their pencil marks. The teenager they had removing and reinstalling the trim around the floor had no idea what he was doing. The caulk he used for the trim is all over the wall. When the cabinets arrived, they had been ordered incorrectly and had to be reordered. Most arrived damaged. When the correct cabinets where finally installed there was still damage on most of them, none has been repaired. There are cabinet drawers that are not level and cabinet hardware that is crooked. There are cabinet doors that don?t open right, that don?t close flush with each other or have gaps in between them. The crown molding was cut and installed incorrectly and they used caulk to try to cover the flaws, most of which has shrunk or cracked. The caulk also put a yellow tint at the top of the white cabinet trim. The grout they used for the tile backsplash has started to crack. When they installed the appliances they dropped my new cooktop on the new floor, damaging both the appliance and the floor. The also damaged the front of the new refrigerator. None of this has been repaired/replaced. The trim kit around the microwave was installed incorrectly and the microwave moves every time you try to open it. When I was replacing the covers for the electrical outlets/switches (because the left all of them for me to install myself) I discovered they had crammed too much electrical wire into one of the boxes because the screw for the cover went into electrical wire, giving me an electric shock (while I was 8 months pregnant) and causing the wall around the box to be scorched. There are also electrical outlets not installed correctly and the faceplates don?t lie flush with the wall. I have no idea what other issues there might be with their electrical work behind the walls. There are gaps above the new can lights where they are not flush with the ceiling. They tried to match the stomp pattern on the ceiling instead of re-stomping the entire ceiling and it?s clear the patterns don?t match. The under counter lighting they installed was just a strip on LED lights that has already fallen off. Shortly after they ran the new gas line and vent for the range hood my water heater stopped working, pilot light wouldn?t stay lit. They said this had nothing to do with their work so I had to hire a plumber to repair it. We installed a new water heater. Shortly after, the pilot on the new one wouldn?t stay lit either. Our plumber then discovered the gas line wasn?t grounded and the vent line they ran for the range hood was tied into the water heater line causing the pilot light to go out, but also causing carbon monoxide to escape into our house. As you know, this can be a deadly situation. The owner, Miles Johnson, acknowledged this to be fact and said he rectified the situation by firing the person responsible. However, he could have KILLED my family. That can?t be rectified. They never got a single permit for the job.

From start to finish Kitchens by Design was exceedingly professional. They provided a clear and easy to understand quote. Our experience included the following: 1.Polite, professional, trustworthy, experienced and skilled craftsmen. 2.Daily clean up from start to finish of the job. 3.Creative, practical and cost effective solutions to our construction challenges. Some solutions were not real obvious. 4. KBD uses quality materials. 5. KBD design assistance added value to our project helping us to design practical kitchen layouts that optimized our layout. 6. The owner and the workers worked hard to ensure that we were pleased with the job throughout the construction process. 7. I had to leave my home while the crews were working a had complete confidence allowing this company in my home. 8. The final results of our job were superb and exceeded our expectations. We would work with KBD if we need a kitchen, flooring or bathroom again!

I last saw them a year ago. They put in some cabinets and counter tops and a back splice. I had bought the two cabinets to match the others I had, so they installed those. They went over a lot of countertops and sinks and faucets and handles for the cabinets and stuff. I saw them advertised in one of those circulars that come around. The representative that came was real friendly and he had a lot of good ideas. He was patient and never pressured us into using him right away. The person that did the work for him was real knowledgeable. They only took about a week and cleaned up real nice after they finished.

Nice people who offered some good suggestions, but expected them to make arrangements for appliances - did not. We were told that they would work with granite people - they did not. Workers used our garage for storage for a month. They did not move our brand new ceramic top stove out of the Kitchen as they promised instead one day I found them laying their tools directly on the ceramic top. I had to cover it up myself. They also brought in my patio chairs and used them to hold their tools. Would have left eyesore/incomplete work on ceiling if we had not complained, even though they knew it looked horrible. After 2 weeks of constantly trying to call the management we were finally able to get them to send out a professional dry waller to finish the ceiling as it should be done. Even then the management acted like they shouldn't have to do that. Said would prep walls before painting - did not. The first time they painted they didn't even Spackle the nail holes. They had to repaint the walls three times. Water line to fridge unsecured. Did not keep in touch when there was a delay. Put in cabinets and appliances, then had to sand drywall and paint - putting these brand new items in the way of work that should have been done first. Flooring rolls up and said would have someone out to rectify it, then did not, and it sometimes goes down, and we forget about it. Have to stay on them or it won't get done. Expected kitchen specialists instead they sent a do-it-all handyman with his son and brother. Looks good overall, but there are particular areas still that remind us that it wasn't the best quality work. It was a job just getting them to Leave our kitchen looking presentable. Overall we are completely disappointed and frankly amazed at the lack of professionalism and quality of their work. Update: after seeing our review on Angie's list, the owner contacted us. He came out and agreed to fix the flooring and a couple of other minor things. Because of this, I have raised their grade. I cannot raise it too much because the issues with the whole experience cannot be fixed. I just hope that KDB will use our comments to prevent our nightmare experience from happening with any other customers. My advice is that if you choose this company do not let them proceed if you are seeing unprofessionalism like we experience. Tell them to stop Immediately and call the owner.

THIS COMPANY WAS GREAT. THEY WERE VERY MUCH ON TIME AND EASY TO WORK WITH. THEY GUY WAS TRUSTWORTHY AND DID WHAT WAS ASKED OF HIM. HE WAS VERY LAID BACK AND FINISHED IN A REASONABLE TIME.
