I used my 25 foot ladder to examine chimney. Trying to get off the ladder my shoelace got caught and I lost any intent on doing the repair myself. I left my 25 foot ladder in place and Steven Black used it to see there was no flashing cement on side of chimney. Steven Black quoted me $240 to put the flashing on. Roof leaked previous evening (huge storm) so I asked if he was going to get off ladder. He said yes. Mr. Black climbed up the ladder and applied flashing cement on one side of chimney. He had me steady the bottom of the ladder while he leaned forward to apply some of the cement. He did not get off the ladder. Because he did not do the back of the chimney he quoted me a price of $200. After Mr. Black left I looked at the application of the flashing cement and thought he did a good applying it where he did. I think Mr. Black was a nervous about the height as I was. I believe that Mr. Black took advantage of me because the property is a rental, and because the neighborhood is affluent. Mr. Black came when he said he would and seemed familiar with applying the flashing cement. The job was neatly done. I think the service call should have run about $100. If the roof leaks again I will call a different provider.
