Avoid at all cost. Very friendly sales person who was so helpful. Everything seemed fine until the day to start the project. 2 employees showed up and were okay, came and marked the basement for the strips. My husband left and I stayed upstairs with our dogs. While I was on our back patio I could hear the employees outside laughing and having fun, cool. Nobody wants anyone cranky doing work. They came around 9ish, left around 12:15. All they did was move stuff off the walls. I got a message they were going to lunch and waiting for parts to show up. Never came back...the next morning my husband is late to work waiting for them to show up, calls asking where they are and is told there was a emergency, my husband requests they have someone else come out since yesterday they did nothing and today the person didn’t show up. They said sure. We were told they would try to send someone out but it’s been hard with all the flooding. Our project was not a emergency this was planned and scheduled in advance. This was a 2 day project..the sales person has spent more time in my house than the employees doing the work. It’s my husbands birthday today and instead of celebrating it I’m now at work on my break writing a review because I had to go work in the evening so I can take tomorrow off ( day 3). I got a call back from Brent (352-552-0448) who told me they never planned on coming today because they knew yesterday they didn’t have the straps to do the project and he just wants to get it done. Oh did I mention Brent also called asking for will -the person who had a emergency - come to my house and pick up a tools he left so he can do someone else’s project? Don’t worry if you want to know why they lied it’s because brents “hands were tied”.

From the moment I met with Kyle to get my estimate, to the finish of the project with Justin, Colton and Leo, the project was done professionally, courteously, with as little disruption as possible, and on time. Anne-Laure kept me informed on the scheduling, and resolved a problem with some demolition. The project looks great, and I would like to thank everyone, especially Justin the foreman, and Colton his assistant, who were there everyday until it was finished. Leo arrived the third day and worked tirelessly until it was done. Thanks everyone at The Basement Guys for making the entire process easy.

The end product looks great and was a good price. Staff was friendly. Sometimes it was hard to reach them. We had to constantly remind them of what needed done while the project was being done, lack of communication within the company. First day the foreman was asking us everything because he wasn’t sure what was going on. Could have cleaned up after themselves better. Make sure you are very clear about what you want done and stay on top of it during the project and the end product will be good. Project inspector Jeff was very helpful making sure it all went over well and we liked what we got. Electrician was also very helpful and did more than he needed to.

Tyler was very knowledgeable on the topic, my clay walls, their product, and appropriate means to solve the water intrusion I was having. The crew showed up on a Monday morning and were cleaned up and finished by Tuesday afternoon! They were efficient, clean, and explained every step of the way, thoroughly. I would definitely use them again and Will recommend them to friends and family.

The process was painless. Tyler came in and really tried to understand our needs and concerns. He did a fantastic job and was very professional along the way! With cost being a concern he did everything possible to make it as cost effective as possible. We really enjoyed the quoting process and what VERY different (in a good way) than any other remodeling company that we had quote the job.

It was an absolute pleasure dealing with The Basement Guys Cleveland from beginning to end. Jeff who did the estimate was very professional, personable and knowledgeable. He quickly answered any questions and offered suggestions; however, did not try to sell me on things I didn’t need. The workers showed up on time and completed a big project with as little disruption as possible. Both Justin, the foreman, and his assistant Billy were very nice and professional. Justin kept me updated as work progressed, and the project completed well within the time frame given. All items in the basement were covered with plastic to protect things during the work process and cleanup was great! Finally, the office contact person (Anne-Laure) made the scheduling process easy and was very timely in responding to my email inquiries. To wrap up, I highly recommend The Basement Guys Cleveland. I am pleased with the work The Basement Guys did on my house. They were efficient, great with communication, and the price was very reasonable based on the number of quotes I got . There was one thing - not even an issue, really - but I didn't like where they placed the outside drain. When I called, they sent someone out the very next day to discuss other options and then fixed it the way I wanted. Their quick response was much appreciated.

Took 4x as long as expected. contractor showed hours late most days, stayed too late into the evening sometimes, didn't communicate arrival times well. The remodel turned out well in the end, but it was overall stressful experience.

Full basement finishing project. Total ~$25,000. Worksmanship was outstanding (A). Finished product looks immaculate and they left nothing done short of highest quality. Crew was fantastic (A+). Polite, respectful, minimized disturbance to our family as they were around for 3 weeks. Don and Corey were just fabulous. I give them a B instead of an A for the following reasons: Quote process left something to be desired. I was told they could fit a corner shower into the space in the blueprinted bathroom. Then the foreman came out and said he couldn't and we needed a different style shower, so we reluctantly did that. Then, when it was done, it appears as if the corner shower was possible (but I'm not positive of this). Disappointing. Also, I told the quote guy I wanted to be able to store stuff under our staircase, and was told we would be able to access underneath it through a panel. The access they provided was a 19" x 19" panel; not even close to big enough to get anything in or out for storage. We've now lost all of that space. Certain things could have been communicated better. e.g., the foreman moved a wall about 8 inches, which cramped a storage area. When I asked him why I was given a pretty good reason, but was told he could move it back to blueprinted area if I wanted. Although I ended up keeping it where he moved it, I would have expected a call to discuss this. Same thing with panel box. I was not given the option of full replacement or sub-panel, they just went with sub-panel without asking us. Other minor annoyances happened, such as the electrician did not put the correct style outlet in to power our treadmill. We asked him to change it out to the correct type, and when he arrived we asked him to do two outlets instead of one in case we wanted to move the treadmill. He said he only had one of the outlets with him and therefore couldn't do both. There is an ACE Hardware 1 mile away from us; he easily could have gone and picked up another one. Finally, there was a change made to the specs, where a drop ceiling was removed, but they forgot to take this off the quote, and tried to charge me for it. I would have paid for it had I not recognized that they didn't put through the change order for the ceiling. They did, however, remember immediately to give me the change order when they had to buy more flooring than originally quoted. Don't get me wrong, these guys were great, and I would recommend them, and I would hire them again. I would just advise you to not take the quote or the blueprint as anything other than a piece of paper. Take your time to go through every detail with the foreman, as the guy quoting you may be telling you what you want to hear to lock in the contract.

The process of remodeling our basement went very smoothly with The Basement Guys. Everything, from our initial meeting that included an informative presentation and estimate to the final day that the contractor finished and cleaned up, was executed with the utmost professionalism. We were always informed of additional cost for things we wanted to add or deductions for things we wanted to delete. The remodel was completed in a very timely manner.

We originally spoke to a rep from the company at the Home and Garden Show. We were impressed with the quality of the materials they used. We then had Michele out to our home to help with the design and provide us with a quote for the project. We ended up having a total of 5 companies give a quote for the project and they had a very competitive price. Michele was able to make our vision and all of our special requests come to life. We had them finish our roughed in full bath, install a kitchenette with water for the fridge and water/drain for the sink. The finished part of our basement was about 900sq ft. One of the things I loved about this company was that we were able to supply materials if we preferred or we could use the standard ones they supplied. The ones they supplied were perfectly fine, but we wanted to match a few items from the rest of the house and customize a few things to make the basement our style. We ended up supplying the doors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity and light fixture, shower insert, and flooring. The Basement Guys installed everything. The plumber and electrician did a very good job and accommodated all of our requests beautifully. We added extra lighting and outlets in the unfinished area for storage for functionality. We had a few guys working on our basement but Jon was my main contact person. Any concerns I had, I spoke with Jon and he made sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. Jon was incredibly responsive and produced and excellent final quality for our basement. Both Michele and Jon were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them to others looking to create your dream basement living environment! We are still working on painting, but will post pictures soon. We are very excited to start enjoying our new basement in the very near future. The cost below is what cost we paid to The Basement Guys for the material for walls, trim, and labor. We had additional costs for the items we provided. Had we not provided the doors, vanity, lighting, shower insert or floors, the cost (no kitchen area) would have been about $7000 more through the quote with The Basement Guys. Our total costs were $45000 including the kitchen area ($13000 for cabinets, sink, faucet, and countertops).

We looked at multiple companies/contractors prior to choosing the basement guys. We ended up selecting the basement guys because of the excellent integration of our desires into the planning. Michele was awesome to work with. She rapidly responded to our questions. Dan and Andy did an amazing job finishing the basement. They were very respectful to me and my family. (We even hired them for a smaller project after the basement project!). Wade installed our plumbing and was very meticulous with his work. I am so happy we chose the basement guys. I would definitely use them again.

At first, I had a little sticker shock (HomeAdvisor does bad estimates) but after shopping a bit I realized that any difference in price was fairly minor. Once I factored in the type of materials used in order to avoid the possibility of mold in the future and the company's reputation, I was sold. Ended up finishing 670 sqft of basement ($55/sqft) Taking the pre-plumbed half-bath and turning it into a full bath Walling off an office with french doors We opted not to paint simply because we're so far away and I can just hire a painter locally And they created a framing-hole for me to mount my pachinko machine in the wall. We went with waterproof vinyl laminate floors that look like a darkish wood, carpet on the steps, drop ceilings and recessed lighting that I was initially concerned would inefficiently light the area and create a "spotlight" effect on the floor. You can see from the photos that I was wrong. They covered the breaker box with trimmed piece of drywall on magnets and it looks like the perfect place to put a movie poster or something and a thin sheet of plexiglass to make it look like it's just a framed wall hanging. The work was done professionally and surprisingly quick, framing was almost completely done after the first day of work. They did a lot of the work while nobody was home which made me and my wife super nervous at first but we set up a camera and after a few days stopped reviewing the footage because they come in, they work, they clean up. Honestly felt a little bad for being that paranoid but my work relates to security so it's been drilled into me not to trust anyone. I only mention it here so that others can know that they were watched with an absurd level of caution and passed with flying colors. I bought doughnuts on the last day. I found that my emails were replied to the same day as they were sent and once the job foreman contacted me and gave me his info I was able to call or text if anything came up. The biggest delay in the whole process was getting permits because the City of Lorain was operating at government speed when it came to sending out inspectors and keeping track of paperwork. Basement turned out great and required very little action from me once all the design decisions were made. If I moved and needed to finish another basement I'd use them again. I would also recommend them to friends and family looking to have work done. 10/10 Would Basement Again

Dennis is a fantastic worker, honest, knowledgeable and respectful. He worked quickly and was very neat. I totally trusted his ability and feel confident in his work. He answered all my questions and was so helpful; it's obvious he is a master in this business. I would definitely call him again.

The total experience wasn't what we expected. They were extremely overpriced for what we ended up with. The sample of the wall construction that they showed us was not what we got. The flooring material was inferior and defective. Once they found out that it was defective it took them 1 1/2 months to decide what to do. They decided to take the floor up and replace it with a similar product. At that point we had them remove the floor and end the project. We finished our basement ourselves. We want to thank Mike who did a great job.

The crew that came out to do the work were very professional. They kept the work area clean throughout the project. When we had questions, they explained how the process worked and what to expect when they finished the job. We've worked with other basement waterproof companies that took our deposit then kept pushing the work back. The Basement Guys gave us an estimated time on when work would start and kept to that date within reason. I'd hire them again to do waterproofing.

They solicited door to door for 50% off siding deals to establish this new business segment for them in our area. I warned the guy at the door to not have them waste my time by coming out and writing an estimate at double the going rate just so they could cut it in half for '50% off'. Guess what, they even surprised me. They wrote me an estimate FOUR TIMES higher than my two previous siding estimates and then cut THAT in half. So, their estimate is still DOUBLE the other two. Do not let them come to your house unless you want to do that dance.

It went super. The sump pump works like a gem. The installers were very professional. Cleaned up before leaving.
