(I am writing this during the "Loading. Please wait" periods of a movie we are currently watching.) We have had Century Link since October 2013. We initially called Century Link regularly about service issues and had a few servicemen and one woman out to diagnose the problems. The woman was the only tech who actually did anything, and whatever she did, the service was a bit better for awhile. However, she could only do so much. Century Link's service is terrible. So bad, in fact, that there are friends who have fought for months and paid thousands of dollars to get other internet service providers to lay cable so they could avoid CL! If you have any options other than Century Link for Internet, avoid CL at all costs. They are $20 a month more expensive than what we paid in our other community, and the service is sporadic. We are lucky if we can even stream a 30-minute show with less than 4 interruptions in our service. Usually we just give up and watch a DVD, but we are paying for service! We should get the service we pay for And we have given up on the movie for tonight, as we are 15 minutes into it, and it has taken 55 minutes to get there!
Description of Work: "Loading. Please wait..." This is what we get for $70.00 per month for Internet service when we try to stream movies.

I have my internet service with Century link as it is the only provider that services my house. Century link has the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with in recent memory. My internet has been barely working since June 25th. It is now July 15th. The first time I called in I was told that my router was the issue. I went out and bought a new router and the problem still was not fixed. They then told me that I needed an appointment at my house. The soonest they could come out was 7 days later. My appointment was from 8 AM to 12 PM. I waited and waited but no one showed up. I called tech support. They called the dispatching department and were told that the techs were just too busy and not only didn't have time to come up but didn't even have time to call. Basically, too bad, so sad. They showed up the next day and fixed something outside the house. It worked for about a day then the problem returned. I made another call to tech support. They worked with me for a long time and told me I was dropping packets during the upload process and this was causing my overall slow speeds. The capped my speed at half of what I was paying for in order to stabilize the connection. They made an appointment for the techs to come to my place again about 5 days later. I was traveling for work when the tech was supposed to come out. He called me the day before to find out where my place was. After I told him he asked me what the problem was with my service. Seriously? I asked him if he read my ticket as told "Not yet". He comes out the next day and leaves me a message. "I came out to look at your service. The problem was somebody but a cap on your speed. I took it off. All is working" Are you kidding me?? I told him about the cap the day before. Of course, when I got home from traveling the service was still not working and I'm still waiting for them to come fix it. Supposedly they are coming out on the 17th. If you have any options other than Century Link please avoid them like the plague!!!! This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Oh, I almost forgot. I was give the area managers phone number. I have left him two messages so far with no call back.
Description of Work: They are providing me internet service and attempting to fix it.

Description of Work: We switched to them for our Internet service. They were quick to respond and installed everything on time. However we did have an issue with having more services on our bill than what we had initially agreed to. Once I called they were quick to correct the problem without any confrontation. And we haven't had any problems since then.

We generally have good telephone service. Line quality is generally ok. Electrical storms sometimes have knocked out our service, but CenturyLink has generally been pretty good about getting out to repair the line/equipment to get it working again.
Description of Work: We have had Embarq and then CenturyLink (merged) telephone service for about 15 years and have ongoing/current service with this provider.

This is the only company out here that we can get and they do have the Wi-Fi service which my husband has; that is with what we have our computer through. It’s an alright service under one and that’s kind of nice. We can’t judge their price because we don’t know what other companies charge. We never had to use them for anything apart from what we have on there. We think once we had called them and their service was right there.
Description of Work: We use CenturyLink Inc for our landline phone service and internet service. When we moved out here we used 2 different companies, and then we started using CenturyLink Inc and stuck with them since they’ve been all around here.

I have internet and phone service with Centurylink. I have been a customer for 18 years. It has been one of the most frustrating ongoing experiences I have ever had. Centurylink has promotional packages that they will not offer loyal customers, so while I can pay $90 + , new customers can receive the same service for $50. Quite a difference. Oh, yes, you can spend an hour and a half talking with them about the lack of customer service that they are providing, only to get stonewalled that they are providing the service requested and they might, as a one time courtesy, change you to the new service. Yes in the end, I did obtain the new service for internet access only, but I did not obtain the information to bundle all communication and TV services under one plan to save additional monies. This was an incredibly painful and time consuming process.
Description of Work: A call to customer service at 866.314.4148 to try to bundle my services of internet, DirecTV, and Verizon wireless, led to a 92 minute discussion on reducing the monthly fee for internet services only. Three different representatives suggested that I talk with the other two providers myself, rather than them performing their job and obtaining the information directly. Most of the 92 minutes was spent on hold or the representative repeating that this was the best they could do.

When we signed up for Directtv, we were directed to CenturyLink for our internet. We currently have Time Warners Road Runner and wanted something just as fast or faster. They promised us theres was just as good and said they would give us a 30 day trial. They were originally supposed to show up on a Friday, but when no one showed up we called them. The rep claimed we had told the installer we wanted to reschedule the appointment for a later date, we told them we had done no such thing. They basically said we were lying, at that point we wanted to just cancel the order, and we were transferred to someone else who was extremely nice. After over an hour on the phone we got the install price knocked down and a rep was supposed to come and install on Mon. When the rep showed up he explained that we had no access for him to hook up to outside of the house, and he would have to install something which would cost over $100 to do and someone would have to come back and bury the wire in our yard. My husband asked about internet speed if it would be worth the cost. The rep explained that there was no way we would ever get the same speed we had through Road Runner it just wasn't possible. He stated it would slow us down a lot and we would not be able to use the internet as we do now. He also went on to say that the sales reps will say anything to make a sale. Bottom line this company is full of lies and we respectfully told them we no longer wanted their business.
Description of Work: They never completed the work, we decided we were no longer interested.

We've been using them forever. We have no complaints. Everything seems to work. They are very prompt if there is a repair needed. We haven't needed that many repairs. It is getting a little expensive. The price seems fair but we haven't shopped it. They have been a good company and we plan to stick with them.
Description of Work: We use CenturyLink for internet, satellite and we have a landline with them.
