It went fine. They did a good job but it took them quite a while to be able to get out here. Aside from the $249 coupon that I purchased, I also had to pay about $80 more for the stain. I was not here when they did the job so I did not really have any contact with them other than by email. We are working and they did it when we were not here. They just moved the furniture off and power washed the deck and stained it. They did a really nice job and the quality of the work was good. Their price was fair. We had a lot of rain and that was why it was delayed. So, it really was beyond their control and they did what the job called for. They also had another job ahead of ours so we had to wait until they got done with it.

This is the second time I have worked with Kevin and his work is wonderful. Everything looks fabulous. They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up before they left each day. Our stairs were a mess. We decided to stain the treads and paint the risers. They turned out better than I thought they would. The change the painting made is amazing. He is right, a little paint makes a huge difference. I am very happy and will recommend Painting Excellence to everyone. Sending a HUGE thank you to Kevin and his crew. The service provided to me by Painting Excellence was okay. It was fine.

I ended up not using the coupon because I contacted him 3 or 4 times to schedule an appointment, and he kept putting it off. He seemed more interested in offering his painting services than in the drywall work. If he didn’t want to do drywall work, he shouldn’t have advertised it. I got a refund in the end.

It worked out very well. His communication was not fabulous. The service was good. I would use them again.

Job was completed as promised.

He did not get back in touch with me to so no or yes he would be able to do the job.

when kevin quoted me a price, i had an idea of the paint that i wanted to use after talking to the paint store. kevin's advice was to do the job differently with a different product ( same manufacturer). i listened to kevin and the house looks great, and i am convinced looks better than if i had listened to the paint salesman. they were punctual, hard working, and took pride in their work. i am extremely pleased with the looks of the house, and the job that they did.

Kevin and Dennis came to remove wallpaper on May 2, 2013. They were very punctual arriving at the agreed to time of 8:00 a.m. The coupon said it was 4 hours of wallpaper removal for $125. We later learned that if 2 people came, the time was reduced to 2 hours. We were also quoted $45 per additional hour, but that price ended up being $90/hour because there were two people. We ended up paying an additional $280 to have the work completed. We were diappointed that was not outlined in the original agreement. Clean-up could have been better. They left the garbage bag of wallpaper for us to dispose of and they also left scraps of old wallpaper on the moliding, and on the stairs and hallway carpet. After paying over $400 for the work - they could have at least cleaned up the mess. We would only use this company again if we received a detailed cost outline. To be quoted one price and then have it end up being twice what we expected to pay was discouraging.

Fine, showed up at appointed time and performed agreed upon work.

I had double layers of wallpaper in my kitchen to remove., which I did not realize when we started. The 4 hour coupon I bought for $125 did not go as far as I had hoped because of the difficulty of removing the old paper. Kevin was very professional but also very nice, and gave me a generous discount off the hours needed to complete the project. I had him come back a couple more times and each time he was prompt, worked efficiently and offered advice about how to best prepare the walls and other areas for painting as I was planning on doing some of the painting myself after it was prepared for painting. After several weeks of not doing as much as i intended to do myself, I called Kevin and asked him to come back and finish the paint job for me. I ended up sanding the baseboards and priming them myself and having Kevin putting the paint on for a more professional look. I purchased the primer and paint for the walls myself at Sherwin-Williams with Kevin's job discount and had it ready when he came back. Scheduling was easy and, but I was also flexible about it too as I knew that he had other jobs he was working on.After the paint job was complete, he told me to call him if I saw anything that needed to be touched up. When I notices an area that was showing some wall imperfections and needed to be smoothed out more he came back at no cost to fix it. Kevin is a perfectionist and has a very artistic eye ( I was having trouble picking out paint colors and he explained the differences in the different shades of white, recommended which colors of paint did or did not go together well and helped me pick out the color that would look best with the unique challenges in my kitchen). I will have him come back again because he does high quality work at a great price!

Finding a company like Painting Excellence is the reason that I joined Angie's List. It's a company that lives up to it's name. The price was fair and the work performed was, well, excellent! This was a big project. Our house and decks are built into a hill. The house is three levels and the decks are multileveled as well. Although it wasn't easy, Kevin and his side kick, Dennis found a way to get the job done. They communicated well and always arrived when promised. They cleaned their work area daily,leaving it neat and tidy. I would definitely hire them again. If there was a A+ rating, I would award it to Painting Excellence.

Made initial contact with Kevin for estimate. After agreeing on estimate, Kevin scheduled an appointment almost immediately. He was conscientious and avoided the use of soaps that might harm the fish in my pond. All the dirt and mildew is gone. I recommend Kevin without reservation.

They were very good and upfront with what it was going to cost. The work was done in a timely manner. They were very professional and I would recommend them. They called me several times and I had let it go. They had contacted me about the services that they offer and I liked that because I could have forgotten that I have even signed up for them.

Very good. Took several days and was not cheap but the job was well done.

The company was great about contacting me and doing follow up to set a date and time. Kevin was prompt, professional, and polite. Upon arrival he explained some issues regarding the fine print of our Angie's List coupon and limitations on the work he would be able to do given the age of the home. He was great about finding the appropriate materials needed to repair the walls and explaining areas he was unable to repair given regulations. Given the extent of the cracking throughout the house, we will likely need to hire an additional company specializing in and certified to perform the kind of extensive older home plaster repair we will need. I appreciated that Kevin accomplished as much as he did given his limitations and the scope of the job.

Kevin McCue came out and looked at our bathroom ceiling. The paint was pealed back and the ceiling was rough around the ceiling fan. Kevin explained the job to us - the paint was old and he usually doesn't work with real old paint. But he went ahead and fixed the ceiling and painted it. He pulled the ceiling fan and cleaned it out as well as the chamber in the ceiling (no charge). It looked like new when it was finished. Then he pulled back the peeling paint and scraped it further, as far as it would peel, and feathered the edges. He skim- coated the ceiling where it was rough and let it dry overnight. He came back and sanded and painted the ceiling, then let it dry and the put the ceiling fan back up. It was an excellent job. He explained to us every step he needed to take and what he was doing. He did all this for the amount we paid Angie's List for the Big Deal -- $125.00. We were very happy with the job and would certainly hire him again to do paint work.

The reason they were not qualified was because of the age of my house. It came under some sort of regulation that dealt with the type of paint that was on the house before this made them not qualified to do the work.

This job took several trips as the first was wallpaper removal. When the wallpaper border was removed, it was discovered that the wall and ceiling had moved (leaving a long crack most of the wall). On the second trip, Kevin was able to repair this and complete other drywall repair as needed. The final was fine sanding and painting the room. It looks very nice. Cannot see any crack repairs.

He and his partner were very meticulous in the paint job. They were extremely helpful in choosing the kind of paint we needed & they pre-ordered the paint so we got their contractor discount. Because the room was large, we had to go into a second day of painting. The second day cost another $500 since it wasn’t covered by the Big Deal. The only issue we had is that involved our TV. We have a little nook where are our TV sits next to the fireplace. When they removed the TV to paint the nook, we later found that the cable contact had snapped, which basically broke the TV. I called Kevin to let him know about this & he checked with some companies to see if they could repair TVs. He called back in a couple of days saying he could find anyone to fix this TV. He obviously felt bad, but we had to buy a new TV & it would’ve been nice if he’d offered a small credit, $25 or $50, for the trouble. Aside from that though, the service was good.

Great! Much better than I expected.

We used a new paint from Clark & Kensington sold by Ace Hardware. The paint was creamy and the walls look beautiful. We are very satisfied.

I had purchased an Angie's List deal to have a bedroom painted. Painter then informed me I had to buy paint (which I thought was included). He didn't want to come preview the job and then took part of the 8 hours allocated for the "deal" to find problems with the room (ceiling height, and previous paint job, both of which I shared over the phone and was assured was no problem). All of these "issues" took away from the overall time he took to paint the room, which he then charged me extra for and acted like he was doing me a favor about (even though his partner, who had all equipment was late). After he was gone, I cleaned up and found several spots of paint on the carpet he failed to point out or clean. The paint was bright and I found it unprofessional he did this in the first place, and then did not clean it up or be honest with me about it. Will not use again.
