Both projects went well. The technician arrived on time, coordinated the sewer-jet arrival and cleaned up after hmself. Since it was later in the day, he could not finish the gas line installation, but set a time to return and was again prompt and efficient. The only problem during these projects was when he attempted to power wash my sump pump, the water jet broke a notch where it attaches to the rod. After determining that the warehouse did not have one in stock, he promptly ordered it from the supplier and completed the repair the following week. He just left his service sump pump here until that time. I appreciated his efforts. I was very pleased with the overall quality and professionalism of the work and would definitely use Mr. Rooter again.

I hate working with plumbers. It is one of the few areas that I have absolutely no skills or competences in and so I feel like Plumbers see dollar signs when they look at me, a potential consumer who is just ripe for overpriced services and services that I don't actually need. But after three weeks of brushing my teeth hunched over the bathtub, I decided it was time to call in a professional for the stubborn drain clog that I couldn't dislodge. In looking through Angie's List, I remembered seeing a Mr Rooter van at my neighbors not so long ago. I took the plunge. From my first contact with this company, they were exceptionally professional. I was given an option of same day service or the following day and then told that they would call me before the plumber arrived to give me his name. Yup, that scored points. The plumber, joe, arrived and identified himself as he stood outside. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. He didnt seem too surprised when I showed him the clogged sink or the bucket of sludge that I had gathered while doing my own snaking. After inspecting under the sink, he showed me where the two water pipes were badly corroded and explained that this could be a problem down the road. Ok, he was right. I had noticed the bright green corrosion which had started years ago and was now at the point of flaking off in big chunks when touched. Feeling just a bit more trusting, I asked him to look at the toilet. Since the bathroom floor had been retiled, the toilet actually felt more like a rocking chair and I had wondered whether it had been reset properly. Again, I had delayed calling a plumber because, well, I just don't like plumbers. Well, I didn't like plumbers. Joe took a look at it, wobbled it and his eyebrows rose. Okay. Seemed this should be something he needed to look at. Add it to the list. We decided to have him conduct the plumbing inspection before getting started on projects so that if any other work was needed I would be able to prioritize the tasks. He spent a considerable amount of time at the sump pump, which, since replaced, makes water whoosh through the pipes in the house, sounding like Niagra Falls. Yup. It was hooked up to the sewer line. too big of a project for today. He also showed me where there were two traps installed under my garbage disposal, a potential problem if we actually used the thing more often. (There is only supposed to be one trap. This doubles my chances of a clog in the future.). Lastly, he looked at the outside water faucet which hasn't worked in years. Only a problem if I want to water my plants or have my gutters flushed. While the cost of replacing that was more than I had wanted to spend, I did need access to water outside and so gave him the thumbs up. He wrote up the cost for the projects we had discussed so that I could review them. What, a no pressure approach? In fact, he went upstairs to unclog the sink so that I could contemplate what additional tasks he would be doing. To make a too long story a bit shorter, Joe was successful in unclogging the drain, though he ended up trying all three snakes before the smallest one broke through. Made me feel better about my own unsuccessful snaking. Replaced the valves with no problem. And then the toilet. He actually called me back into the bathroom, looking rather incredulous, and pointed to where the wax ring should have been. Ha! My hunch was right. But not only was the wax ring missing, the bolts were the wrong size and something which I forget the name of had been installed backwards. Actually I'm laughing as I write this. His facial expression was priceless. Done with the bathroom, he headed to the basement, checked the shut off valve to the outside faucet and then went back out in the rain to inspect the faucet again before replacing it. As I peeked out the front door I saw him open the spigot. Nothing. Then he whacked the side of the faucet two times with a wrench and reopened the spigot. What? Really? Water came streaming out. I'm betting my face looked like his had in the bathroom as he marveled over the ringless toilet. He had dislodged whatever had prevented the water from flowing from the spigot. No cost! that would have been a great place to grab some significant dollars at my expense. But that isnt the way this company does business. Enough of my story. Suffice it to say, this experience was remarkable. Joe, as a representative of Mr Rooter, outdid himself in the provision of quality service. He was patient in his explanation of services and responses to my questions. He told me directly that the company's priority was customer satisfaction. And then he supported that with his services and his attitude. Joe and Mr Rooter have found themselves a loyal customer. And one who won't need to wait as long the next time a plumber is needed. Thank you Joe!

It went well. The 2 men, Gary and I forget the other came and were very professional and did not give us the rebuttal when we decided to go with the cheaper of the 2 services they offered. He gave us a discount and a better price and was willing to work with us. They put a tarp down and cleaned up after they were finished.
Description of Work: Our main sewer line was slow and backing up. We had tried to snake the drain out ourselves but was not successful. We called Mr. Rooter after I searched Angie's list. They came within the hour and gave us a couple of options. We went with the latter and cheaper option and were happy with the service.

It was a wonderful experience. I had minimal drain problem in a pedestal sink and the shower also in that bathroom. I was very pleased with the young man that came. While he was here I told him about the wobbly toilet but said it was not apart of the Big Deal but he was able to get it done for me at a great deal. I got more work done then I expected. He was very on time.

Decided that the drain which ran super slow and was getting dangerously close to not running at all needed to be cleared out even though it was supposed to have been done earlier. Called Mr. Rooter and on the same day, he came out and snaked and cleared the drain. It has run perfectly ever since. He was efficient and courteous.

Overall - no complaints, no issues, just as easy as can be.
Description of Work: The laundry room drain was backing up and when I found Mr. Rooter's deal to clean one drain for $66.00 I jumped on it. The serviceman was friendly, professional and thorough in his explanation of the problem and how it was fixed. I would definitely use and recommend Mr. Rooter for future plumbing services. I rated the price as N/A since this deal was just too good to pass up, and since I didn't have any other out of pocket expense with Mr. Rooter. Thank you!

Taking advantage of a Big Deal, I signed up on line for Mr. Rooter to clear the drain. Within an hour, they called to set up an appointment.. It happened that they were available the same day and the time set was 2-4:00 PM. Dave arrived within that time period, without calling first but I had mentioned that I would be home all day. The basement kitchen drain had been plugged for over a year by visitors who said they had put coffee grounds in it. The pipe was unusually small and previous attempts to put a snake far enough into it were unsuccessful. Using the smallest electrical snake on the truck, Dave cleared the line very quickly and the drainage rate became fine. Then we reviewed other possible plumbing issues and agreed that all was well. From first contact to job done was within five hours.

Don - master plumber and 3 other Mr Rooter employees (Dave - 28 year experienced master plumber, Dave - apprentice, and Kevin/Keith? - jet truck driver) showed up at 9:30am to fix our drain problem. Don pounded a hole in the sheet rock to gain access to the 4" ABS pipe (turned out it was only 3" pipe), then used a motorized drywall saw to cut out a rectangular access panel. It was impossible to get to the "cleanout" from underneath the bathroom sink because the original plumber had not placed it high enough off the floor - code says 15" to 18" off the floor - it was barely 6 inches. Once he saw the size and configuration of the pipe, he went back to the store to get the right fittings. Dave took over and sawed a piece of pipe out above the cleanout explaining to apprentice Dave how easily ABS pipe melts as he filed the edges. I asked what ABS stood for. Dave didn't remember, but he said it was used a lot in the 70s because it was cheap and easy to work with. Later when PVC came out, that became the pipe of choice. ABS is more porous and noisier than PVC. Because it is more porous (not as rigid), it tends to bend and create "bellies" under ground where gunk can collect. [Googling ABS I learned that it stands for "acrylonitrile butadiene styrene"] Don got back and snaked the pipe, then Kevin brought in the yellow (rather than brown) hose to do the jetting. I asked what the difference was between the yellow and brown. Dave said the brown is about half the size of the yellow. Dave used the jet to open up the blockage. After running out of water, he said it was open but they needed to check with the video camera to see how open it was and whether or not there were bellies. They used Dave's camera because he had a larger screen which was brighter and would work better on black pipe. The camera showed the drain was only about 30% open. They could stop there but could not guarantee how long it would stay open. Or they could fill the truck up with water and continue. They asked if I wanted to spend the extra money to jet it some more, an extra $394. I went ahead and said to continue. Because Don had talked so fast when he talked about prices, I went upstairs and called the company to get a more definitive idea of the final cost. (The guys were all outside waiting for the truck to fill.) The secretary said the guys in the field would have that information; did I want to talk to a manager? I said yes and she put me on with Len. He went over basic pricing: 2 hours jetting, 1 hour additional jetting, video camera use (flat rate). He said that he didn't know the specifics of my job and would call the guys and then get back with me. After about 10 minutes, they came back in. Don went back to jetting and Dave took me in the family room to show me different prices from their pricing manual to make sure I knew what the final cost would be. He said they wouldn't charge me for certain things. Breakdown was as follows: Open wall to access drain 2 x 2 $176.47 Install 2" ABS cleanout with plug and bands $143.18 Cable the line to open blockage of grease No Charge Hydro Scrub line High Pressure to blow out all grease build up to main [2 hours jetting] $591.10 Camera line to see blockage of areas $247.06 Additional Jetting [1 hour] $394.06 Camera again to assure line is clear (included) Install piece of luan to cover hole in wall No Charge Found 1 belly in line at 31 ft. Gave a 6 month warranty on jetting. Discount for yellow pages ad -$30.00 Total charge: $1522.37 The guys were done at about 12:30. Very professional and thorough, explaining clearly what was going on as they went. The only reason I would not use them again is because of the extremely high cost.
Description of Work: Water backed up into basin in lower bathroom (which we rarely used). Kitchen sink above uses same drain lines. (This "review" was written 2 days after the work was done, but not published until just now.)

No complaints. A wonderful experience. Would given an A+ if I could.
Description of Work: I saw the Angie's List Deal for a drain cleaning at about 9:30 am. It's 12:12 pm (less than 3 hours later) and it's already paid, completed, cleaned and working. A wonderful overall experience. I called first when I saw the deal to make sure they came to my city and when it could be done. The call taker was very friendly and double checked to make sure they could honor the deal. She said yes and had an available window within about an hour of when I called. Ridiculously amazing! So, I clicked yes, still waiting for the catch. I got a phone call at the beginning of the appointment time to let me know they were on the way. Dave arrived in a timely fashion (despite the horrible weather). He mentioned the regular price, but when I told him about the Angie's List Deal there were no issues with this. He was very courteous, thorough, and cleaned the drain promptly. It is now still less than 3 hours from when I saw the deal and everything, including this review is complete. Thanks Mr. Rooter Plumbing and thanks to Angie's List!

I've previously used Mr. Rooter before and had been happy. When I needed a faucet on my laundry tub replaced, I called them, but I called the central dispatch number (big mistake!) and they sent a guy from North Omsted. He was not from the Akron-Fairlawn, which is where I had previously gotten plumbers. Once he came, he looked around, decided I needed two valves and a faucet replaced. He gave an estimate of almost $800! I was shocked! When I protested around the estimate amount, he offered to buy a faucet of less quality to reduce the bill. I also showed him my discount coupons, so he knocked some off the estimate. He went out and bought a new faucet without asking me which type or model I wanted! I ended up with a faucet that was very impractical for the laundry tub but by then I was tired of having him around and wanted him out of here. I will never have this guy here again!

After smelling a sewer type smell in my house, I realized that my crawl/basement was flooded with sewer water and waste, a lot of it! In a panic I grabbed the phone book and found a plumber that could be out as soon as possible, it happened to be Mr. Rooter. The plumber came out within an hour and was very professional with the situation. He then quoted the job to snake the sewer drain for about $250 and recommend we scope the drain for an additional $100. Although this did seem like a steep price, we being new owners weren’t quite sure what to do, considering the 4 inches of sewer water and excrement in our basement we just wanted the job done ASAP. Well, needless to say we WAY OVER-PAID!! Now don’t get me wrong the job was done and the water drained but about a day or two after the job was completed and the amount of $350 was paid to the plumber, my sister told me she had the exact same service done for $189 and my parents had theirs done for $250. I wasn’t aware that the rates between different plumbing companies varied so widely and I really feel like they took advantage of me. I did call the company and I explained the situation and I was told “those are just our rates.” Well I hope other consumers can read this review and steer clear of a company that charges WAY over their competitors for 45 minutes of work.
