Description of Work: This review is not intended to deprecate the person doing the inspection, but to point out the worthlessness of the inspection process. Any person of average intelligence and StreetSmarts does not need this service. It is a superficial inspection full of disclaimers and very repetitive. It is highly, I repeat highly overpriced at $730 for a walk through inspection and a water test.

+ -1 moreVery poorly. This inspectors oversights resulted in us missing our opportunity to have serious flood issues and other damages negotiated in the sales price. We were forced to gut a newly finished basement, address mold issues and correct other electrical and plumbing issues that were clearly accessible. Very disappointed.
Description of Work: Our real estate agent contacted this company to perform a home inspection of the house we were purchasing. Because we lived on the other side of the country, we weren't able to be present but were given every assurance of his competency. The home inspection came back with only the most minor issues but after purchasing the house, we discovered a host of very serious problems, including a recently finished basement that had flooded multiple times. As in warped, new hardwood floors, mold and damaged drywall. We hired another inspection company and had a new walk-through performed, which revealed a laundry list of costly issues that they clearly stated any qualified inspector should and would catch. Thanks a lot for the oversight, Inspect It First! It ended up costing our family 27k. The worst part was after the fact, when the owner/inspector contacted us to ask how everything went and I shared this experience with him, he never wrote back.

+ -1 moreHe was supposed to inspect our home before we bought it. He came out promptly and got the report to me within a couple of days. After we bought the house the following year we ended up having to put $25,000 into the house because there was rot on it. I made him aware of the rot on other homes in the area, I contacted him and a lawyer but it was too late. I never asked him to do anything other than pay the $25,000. We also found the chimney upstairs was only resting on slate which is very weak if it should crack. He never went up into the attic. I would never use him again, he didn't so his job.
Description of Work: Inspect It First was hired to inspect a home we were buying.
