The estimate took place and the work started within 3 weeks. Responses on questions we had after the estimate were answered quickly by phone or email.

Found contractor on Angie's List, positive reviews, were prompt, professional, ask clean' will definitely use again.

They pulled out old caulking and grout in a large tiled shower and replaced with all new.

Bakai Construction added a lot of additional insulation to our existing attic space in our one story home, including the cathedral ceiling areas. They also installed insulation in the 3 car garage where there was no insulation at all. They also sealed around fan vents to prevent drafts and added baffles for additional air circulation in the attic. They replaced insulation in a few wall spaces where electricians from another company had removed it and not replaced it during a separate remodeling project. Barney and his crew always conduct themselves in a professional, respectful manner. They took great care to avoid getting any mess in the interior of our home. Our home immediately felt warmer, and it cut down on any draftiness. We recommend them with confidence. We feel that he is very honest and ethical in his business practices.

I never received it. I had to call again for the e mail of the estimate. He never called to follow up whether or not I was going to use his services. Which I would NOT.

I contacted this provider early in October and asked for them to come to my house and give me an estimate on re-tiling a stand up shower. They left me a message stating they would be out of town and wouldn't be able to come out until later in the month. This was fine so I again contacted them about a week after the date they said they would be back in town by both voice mail and internet request on their website and I have not heard back from them.

Barney returned my call quickly and set an appointment to give us an estimate. He was pleasant and punctual and found the source of the water that had been leaking into our kitchen below the second floor bathroom. Barney confirmed that this was a grout repair problem rather than a plumbing problem and showed us the cracks he would repair. He arrived on time for the repair, cleaned out the old grout and silicone and made the necessary repairs as well as to other areas of the bathroom grout that needed repair. He explained how the crack in the grout had occurred relative to the tub and wall tile. Since there was less work than he had originally estimated, he reduced the price and offered us a limited warranty on this work.

We have used Bakai construction in the past, and we continue to have them back. This time, they removed an outdated built in entertainment center, and they dry walled the area. Electrical wiring was relocated. They also removed a platform in our laundry room that was in the washer/dryer area. They did drywall repair and added a tile floor in the area to match the existing tiled floor. They do beautiful tile work. They took extra care and precautions to control all drywall dust due to my allergies. They are very respectful of our property, and they clean up well each day. They are returning next week to add insulation to our attic areas and 3 car garage.

I was very impressed with Mr. Bakai's knowledge of and passion for his craft. He also was very up front with me, indicating he would not be able to get to my project as quickly as I would like due to a large job he had just taken on. After obtaining his estimate I discovered I did not need a new shower pan, but would instead need more extensive plumbing and electrical work than first anticipated. I got the impression that Mr. Bakai was essentially a "tile guy", and an excellent one, but that he subbed out the electrical and some of the plumbing. As the scope of the project had changed, I opted to act as contractor, using my own electrician and plumber, and hiring a "tile guy" that they both highly recommended. I would not hesitate to contact Mr. Bakai again in the future -- his professional demeanor, passion, expertise, and commitment to quality are almost irresistible!

Great experience. On time, cleaned up every evening, very impressed with decorative tile layout around the shower. Derek did a great job putting it all together and making our ideas a reality.

I was impressed by the quality of work from Bakai Construction. My bathroom was very small and old and we wanted to create a larger bathroom with the limited space we had and update it as well. We wanted to have the shower expanded and a closet created and that resulted in us losing some closet space in one of our rooms but not significantly. Barney and his crew came every day once they started the project early in the AM and managed to create a larger bathroom and also did an amazing job with the tile work in the shower. It looks so different from what we started of with. His quote was higher that others but he had been rated well on Angie's list and was willing with to work with us so we went ahead with his company. The work quality was excellent. We started with a very old bathroom and old tiles and fixtures with barely enough room. We finished up with a much larger shower, beautiful tile work and a bright bathroom. Given our primary goal was to create as much space as possible, Barney came up with the idea of a pocket door to save space and it has worked out very well. He responded quickly to any concerns I had and was able to help when I needed clarifications on the type of fixtures that are needed for a bathroom of our size.

Barney was great to work with, he redid our guest bath in the spring and was the first person we thought of to redo our master bathroom. As I said he completely redid everything and the tile work and craftsmanship in our new bathroom is flawless. There were some bumps along the way- as is with any renovation and some of which were not in his control, but he responded with extreme professionalism with every one. He is great at coming up with solutions and has great design suggestions for tile install. We did have a problem with a plumber installing a couple of our shower fixtures and he handled it right away and took charge -just as a contractor should do. For part of the renovation we were out of town and felt completely comfortable with Barney and his team tackling the bathroom while we were gone, they are true professionals and trustworthy. I find that if something is not up to par he is more than willing to accommodate the client and work until you are satisfied. Barney is all around a great guy. Thanks Barney for the great work!

It was a great experience. The gentleman was polite and professional, arrived on time, and cleaned up after himself every day. In addition, he was fairly priced and quick to deduct from the bill any materials that I purchased myself. Ultimately, he did excellent work and completed the job on schedule. I'm going to have him back for additional work in the future.

Barney rescued us from a bad situation because we were left with a master bathroom project that was left unfinished and in need of repair to the tile shower and floor. Porcelain tiles had not been installed according to manufacturer's specifications: they were cut unevenly, not installed flush to the walls or floor, and the grout was pitted and insufficient. The mosaic tiles were chipped and had many sharp, jagged edges. Barney worked a miracle with the mosaic in the shower. He chiseled them out and painstakingly put in new glass mosaic tiles, camouflaging the uneven perimeter left by the former unsatisfactory contractor. We are so pleased and thankful for his expertise and beautiful craftsmanship. It was a very difficult task. The tile in our lower level was installed perfectly by one of his crew. He has employees who have worked for him for many years. Everyone demonstrated great respect for us and our home. Although the jobs were messy by their nature and I'm very sensitive to dust, all the work was completely contained and protected from the rest of our home. Everything was cleaned up completely at the end of the day. We are so thankful to have found a company that does things the right way. We have only positive things to say! He is returning to do more repairs and some new projects as well.

Barney was responsive to my inquiries and came out to view the work requested before setting the date to actually perform the work. He was prompt, courteous, professional, and neat. No mess left behind. He even did a little extra job I requested at no additional charge. I will recommend him to friends and use his services again.

I initially called about getting an estimate for a couple of remodeling projects. He sounded very professional, although unenthusiastic. We scheduled an appointment for him to come out the next day, and that was the last I heard. He never showed up for the appointment, and never called.

The whole agonizing process was hard to deal with. I don't think Barney Bakai understands the role of the contractor, a role that I equate to a wedding planner. The contractor needs to understand the scope and details of the proposed job, get estimates from the appropriate professionals, and then either assist with the work or be a dedicated overseer. Barney was overpriced, hard to get hold of, hired inept help, and was argumentative. We hired Barney based on Angie's List reviews, and due to his awful performance, I seriously doubted the validity of Angie's List. I questioned many people to see if they thought good reviews could be "bought." I don't know if the people who hired Bakai Construction before us truly had good experiences; it just seems hard to believe due to the experience we had.

They had to do the removal of all the old fixtures and tile and shower pan that was leaking into the basement. All items were replaced with excellent workman ship. Every thing was cleaned up. Overall an excellent job

Barney installed a tile backsplash in the kitchen. We got 3 quotes and his price was in the middle but it did include the tile, which the others didn't. He got the tile for us (we used white subway tile). He did good work and was pleasant and professional. This was a very good experience. The backsplash looks great.

Barney and his partner were very neat. used drop clothes every where, that I appreciated as I am a neat freak. They are very personable and pleasant to deal with. They get right to work and do a beautiful jobe. I am more then thrilled with the look of my backsplash! They were here two days. About three hours each day. They also took down my microwave and replaced it.

Barney is a perfectionist and he managed to almost completely compensate for the other man's incompetence! He did the job with another person. Both were timely, professional and we are completely happy with the end results. The tile pattern was our own, using 5 different tiles, some of which had only subtle variations. He had to join two rooms and compensate for our older home's uneven dimensions. It turned out so beautifully! WE WILL CERTAINLY HAVE BARNEY DO ALL FUTURE WORK START TO FINISH!

I was disappointed to learn, when I accepted Barney's bid on the job, that he could no longer do it because he had just committed to a very large job. He suggested a colleage, Geoff Luikart 419-685-1972. Geoff's tile work is the best I've ever seen - set very close and perfectly level. We had him install polished slate, 16 x 16.
