The finished product is beautiful. The tile man, the plumber and the electrician all did excellent work and were very easy to work with. They were responsive to my requests and I was very pleased with the outcome. The contractor, Barney, on the other hand was disorganized and difficult to work with. He misplaced or was unable to provide documents and receipts, and forgot to credit payments I made. He rarely showed up on time. He seemed to not hear or to disregard requests I made. He complained that I had insisted on the work coming into compliance with the regulations of my local building department and charged me extra for whatever the city required. The items on the invoice were sometimes way out of line with what they should have been. He tried to charge me $3600 for a painter and I hired my own for less than $1500. He tried to charge me $850 for supplies from his plumbing supplier for items I could have purchased elsewhere for less than $400. I had no problem paying the original invoice which we had agreed upon, but the extra charges seemed to come out of nowhere and Barney balked when I asked for receipts. I would not deal with him again.

Barney and his team were very helpful. I live out of town and was still able to coordinate the job and notify my parents when workers would be coming to the house. Everyone was very patient with my parents and the bathroom turned out beautiful. I would absolutely use this company again.

Barney and his crew did a great job remodeling our kitchen at a very reasonable price. They squeezed us in between other jobs due to their busy schedule so the job dragged out a bit longer than we had hoped, but the end product was great! Would use them again.

The project went very well. Barney and his crew were very professional, knowledgeable and detail oriented. Barney took the time to go through all the details of the project and make sure that everything was done correctly with a superb attention to detail. I would highly recommend Bakai Construction to anyone wanting to redo their bathroom.

I read the glowing reviews and expected the same level of trust and service. On 11/6/2014 Mr. Bakai's employee finished some items and gave me a balance due invoice wanting payment immediately. I asked him to fix/finish certain items and he replied "Barney told me not too." I refused payment. On 11/7/2014 Mr. Bakai agreed to correct/finish items discussed. It was my understanding the appointment was 11/10/2014 at 9 am. No one showed up and Mr. Bakai did not contact me again until one month later regarding items to be finished. During this one month, I believed I was abandon because I was previously cast aside to service another customer. Since December 2014, I received invoices and emails from Mr. Bakai stating that he is going to send me to a collection agency, small claims court, mechanics lean on my home, charge 1% interest per month (12% annually) on balance due. In addition, Mr. Bakai is accusing me of theft of his services, going behind his company?s back, delaying the job because of fixtures. In my defense: Accusation I delayed the start of the job because I had not purchased fixtures. Mr. Bakai said he does purchase fixtures for customers and purchased for me at the start of the job. In addition, if I did not like what he purchased he would return them. Accusation I delayed job because I wanted to change fixtures. On my scheduled date for plumber to install fixtures and toilet, Mr. Bakai diverted the plumber to another job and plumber never kept my appointment. Previous to this, I had issues with punctuality, reliability and trust. I had enough. On November 7th, I told Mr. Bakai to return his fixtures. When I purchased new fixtures, Mr. Bakai said I was to schedule and pay the plumber direct $400. Mr. Bakai would credit my invoice $400. The plumber said if I wanted my toilet installed the next day it would be an additional $50. Accusation of theft of his services. After not contacting me for one month regarding remaining issues, Mr. Bakai now wants to install fixtures that I purchased and correct/finish items. But he told me to pay the plumber direct and he did credit my invoice $400. On the last invoice I received the $400 credit was removed. Accusation going behind Mr. Bakai?s back. Mr. Bakai gave me date and time glass company would come to estimate for shower door and Mr. Bakai would also be there. Mr. Bakai never arrived or called. Glass company would only provide quote to Mr. Bakai and Mr. Bakai refused to provide to me, but would discount $100 for shower door. On Mr. Bakai?s invoice, supply and install shower door $1250, below that charge, there are several additional line item charges, that kept changing on new invoices which I questioned because they appeared as additional charges pertaining to installing the shower door. Mr. Bakai responded the items did not lineup correctly and had nothing to do with the shower door. Because Mr. Bakai refused to show me the quote, changing line items on invoices and reliability, I cancelled the shower door with Mr. Bakai. I waited one month before ordering directly from glass company. Their showroom has price listed as $1250 and includes door and installation. I did respond to Mr. Bakai's last threatening email that I would respond to his allegations on Angie?s List. Mr. Bakai said he has tried to reason with me by asking what balance I'm willing to pay. I tried to reason with Mr. Bakai on November 7th to finish and correct items and he never showed up or contact me regarding those items until December 10, 2014. Mr. Bakai now has found the time to sue me, but never found the time to correct/finish items in a timely manner.

We love our new shower! We were given options the whole way through to control cost and pick what we wanted. We found working with everyone on the team to be a good experience - the people performing the work were nice, skilled, and trustworthy. We did stay the whole time (as we've got dogs to wrangle) and they were professional and courteous throughout. AND they kept working even having to go outside in the bitter cold (thank you so much!!). True craftsmen. The workmanship was excellent. The only complaint was that there are some grout spatters that are proving hard to remove that didn't get cleaned up. This may be unavoidable in any project, and overall the team did a great job putting down cloths and sticking to just the areas they needed to be in to avoid mess. Highly recommend.

Barney was on time and very professional for the estimate. He had nice HD pictures to show of his previous work and certainly seemed confident. We didn't go with him because his estimate was out of our price range, but definitely would be desirable to someone looking for a high-end design. His work is quite beautiful.

he worked us into his schedule even though he was busy. his employee was courteous, on time and explained everything to us. he was fast but still took the time to made sure everything looked perfect. excellent work.

The tile/grout, plumbing and electrical work, as well as shower base/door installation all appear to be top notch. Prior to your project start date with Bakai Construction, I highly recommend that as the customer, you discuss: 1) how your home contents will be protected, 2) how communication will occur to ensure that your fixtures are installed where you want them, and 3) your preference for not rushing your job so that work quality is not compromised and work left unfinished. I was not totally satisfied due to excessive grout powder/sand/dust throughout my condominium and outdoors on my deck/deck furniture, especially in and on kitchen cabinets, closets, furniture and decor, which necessitated hiring a professional cleaner, along with myself, to wipe down everything throughout my condominium, including ceilings and sidewalls.

He was really helpful. He fit me in the day after Thanksgiving.

Barney came out and did an estimate for me and I was really impressed. He showed up on time, was extremely knowledgable, explained everything well and answered all my questions. The workers showed up on time to do the work, and got the job done start to finish in 5 days. What really impressed me with them was the workers. There were 2 others guys that performed the work, and they were not what you might expect from a construction company. They were all presentable and seemed trustworthy, to the point where I left a key for them and they came and left without me being home a few of the days. The work was performed well and my shower is fixed! We can now shower in our master bath without having a puddle of water outside the shower when done. Would highly recommend and will definitely use again if the need arises.

Bakai Construction was extremely professional, honest, patient and true artists! It was a total pleasure working with them. They only had 12 days to complete our unfinshed bathroom (tiles, sink, mirror, shower and everything else)... Prior to Bakai - the bathroom was entirely gutted, and replaced with new electrically wires, pipes and dry wall by our previous contractor until he was injured. Our son was getting married in 12 days... with an unfinished master/guest bathroom.... no shower toilet, bathtub, tiles, sink or painting were completed . Not only was it completed beautifully and on time but we also had the pleasure of dealing with very kind hard working people. The owner, Barney is wonderful and very talented. We have two more bathrooms to fix (not a total remodeling) -- new floor tile and shower and painting. We will definitely call Bakai Construction when we are ready to plan

Barney installed a backsplash in my kitchen and tiled my fireplace. He completed both jobs beautifully, on time and within his estimate. He left my home so clean that (except for the beautiful new tiling) you couldn?t tell he?d been there. The fireplace was an especially intricate project requiring that each tile be precisely placed to maintain symmetry and allow the tile to fit in the allotted space. The exquisite results are shown in an attached photo.

I called Barney at Bakai Construction after checking Angie?s list. I had three contractors quote the job and Barney was the first to come and appeared to be the most qualified of the contractors for the job. We discussed the entire job and set a date when my daughter would be out of town and the bathroom would be available for a couple of weeks. We picked out the tile and secured the plans and contract. On the day scheduled, Derek, Barney?s tile installer, and Barney arrived to go over the job. Derek got right to work and after the first day, the entire area was prepared, shower door, tile and soffit removed. This went very well and they kept the place clean. This was a trick, since it is a second floor bathroom. The next day Derek and Harold, the plumber, arrived and began to install the new plumbing and shower drain. There was a bit of miscommunication with the plumber, about where we wanted the shower valve but, everything was handled perfectly and corrected without issue. Derek installed the waterproof boards and framed in the shelf and the shower was ready to be tiled. The tile job took a few days and again there were very minor issues with the look of the tile since we used both ceramic and glass tile. Derek and Barney worked above and beyond to make things right and never got upset or frazzled with correcting or changing the tile work to make it perfect. Again, they were both very careful with keeping things moving and also not trashing the house in the process. As a homeowner, it is refreshing to work with professional, efficient and clean contractors. In the end, the shower is beautiful and my daughter is extremely happy with her new shower, which is all that matters. I would gladly recommend Bakai Construction for any of your bathroom remodel needs. They use the line, ?The Art of Perfection?, on Barney?s business card, and they mean it. Thanks to Barney, Derek and Harold for doing such an excellent job.

Mr. Bakai responded promptly to my request for an estimate. When I notified him that I'd like him to do the work, he also responded quickly and set up a date for performing the work. I was thrilled with the work he and his co-worker did. They left the bathrooms looking immaculately clean and the tile looking brand new. Both Mr. Bakai and his co-worker were polite, did top-notch work, and cleaned up beautifully. I would hire them again in a minute. In this case, using Angie's lists reviews to locate and choose this provider resulted in a very positive outcome with excellent results.

The quality of the work was excellent and the level of cleanliness and friendliness was excellent. I wish I would have gone with Barney from the beginning, rather than coming in and fixing things from previous work.

The effort by Bakai Construction and its subcontractors was excellent. Barney Bakai used his exceptional sense of design and craftsmanship to meet all our requirements and exceed our very high expectations. His suppliers provided outstanding quality products. His subcontractors, Quality Stone and Harold's Plumbing, also did a superior job. Barney is highly professional and insures that the customer is fully satisfied with the result. He provided excellent ideas for the renovation which we adopted and which resulted in a kitchen that is both highly functional as well as extremely attractive. We have received many compliments on the kitchen even in the short time since its completion. The work was done on time and within cost with a minimum of disruption. We are very pleased with Bakai Construction and highly recommend utilizing their services.

Response was very prompt with initial visit to my home, providing bid setting installation date. Professional staff cleaned up after each day work .I am very pleased with the out come.

Overall, great. The backsplash looks terrific--really adds a new dimension to our kitchen. Bakai does quality work and we would recommend them. The tiler was very professional, efficient and attentive to cleaning up after his work. The electrician (an independent contractor to Bakai) was fine. The quote from Bakai included electrical work. The quote amount was a reasonable amount and the quality of work performed by their independent contractor was acceptable. Bakai offered to have electric work performed through an electrician that they often work with and trust or were happy to have us use our own. Our recommendation, for future reference, is to obtain multiple independent quotes to understand different options, related pricing and clarity on the work to be performed.

Barney and his team were excellent. Answered all questions and gave great advice about materials and colors when asked. All of the group were very professional and knowledgeable. They took care of our house/floors during the upgrade and you'd never know that they'd been there. They also kept an eye out for the cat so she wouldn't get out or supervise their work too much. We would defnintely use Bakai Construction again.

My experience with this company was wonderful. I can't say enough about them-they are professional, courteous and competitively priced. The work and materials are top quality. I will be using them again soon and highly recommend them. Barney returns e-mails and phone calls promptly.

They were very good, I was very pleased. I have been emailing them because my bathroom door doesn't shut, and they will be sending someone to look at it. They couldn't check it at the time, because the paint was wet. The crew was very knowledgeable, very clean, and they cleaned up after themselves.We were satisfied with their quote, and so we just went with them. It was more than one guy coming out, and some of them were very prompt, and some were not.
