Customer service people at this company are totally incompetent! They have my service address & billing address as Macedonia but I live in Twinsburg, the correct address with the wrong city! They also had my unit number wrong. I had asked to be billed by mail but never received a bill because of this blunder; on top of this they charged me a late fee & wouldn't own up to the blunder & reimburse me. I called them about late February & asked them to correct this & was told that it was all taken care of & my billing due date was April first, & she would mail me a copy of the bill. I received this some days later still with the wrong address & a late fee plus another months billing. I was livid! I called to have them correct this, spoke to four people & ended up screaming at the last person because they wouldn't correct either address. After getting angry, my billing address was corrected but they still refuse to correct my service address. Then I had to charge my monthly bill to my credit card & they were all happy. I was given a promotional price, but when I received the total for the bill there were the fees, taxes, etc added that weren't included in the quote which brought the total to four dollars under what I was paying Spectrum. Their internet service is super, though. That's the only nice thing that I can say about this company. If you like a good fight, use Windstream, if not find someone else.

The worst example of sleezy is that I had a problem with the wireless router that I had purchased and when the problem was discovered they offered me one of theirs for free. I accepted and was happy with the situation until about two years later when noticed that had decided to charge me for the router. Approximately $7 per month for my FREE router that if I purchased it would cost me ~$50. You have to call them and threaten to quit Windstream to get these little charges removed!
Description of Work: I've been a Windstream customer for quite some time and have seen their bill continue to climb upward. Way faster than the cost of inflation. Mysterious charges keep appearing on my bill and have to review every month to make sure they're not adding things I didn't ask for. I'm shopping for a provider that doesn't mess with my bill.

The internet service was down for two days (Sunday 10/26/14 and Monday 10/27/14). When I called on the first morning to find out about the problem, a recording told me that the outage should be fixed by 3:37 am that day (in other words, it should already have been fixed). When I spoke with a customer representative (CR), she said that they were working on the problem, and that it would be fixed that day. The next day, there was still no internet service. I called around 6:30 am, and got the same recording. When I spoke with a CR, he told me that they were working on it, and that the recording would be updated when the dispatcher came into work at 7 am. He assured me that they had been working on it since the day before. After 7am, the recording was finally updated to say that it would be fixed by 11:27 pm. That morning, we noticed Windstream trucks in the area for the first time. It was finally fixed by 5 pm. Not only did we lose two days of internet service (which are essential to my work, especially over the weekend), but the company did not communicate accurately (I'm being polite here) about the facts of the problem and what they were doing. No truck was in our area on Sunday; I'm sure that they started work on Monday morning, despite that assurances of the recording and the CR's that they were "working diligently to restore service." I'll be looking for another internet provider, that is more reliable and tells the truth to its customers.

I have a fast internet connection. They are my local phone company and I have a bundle package. They cannot change the price for 3 years. I have had good service with them and when I have a problem, I can call them and they will walk me through it. I am glad that I switched over to satellite TV. They are very good with customer service. I will continue to use them.

I was sent this email and asked to rate this internet provider. It's service has been unreliable, its customer support personnel, while well trained, obviously have systems that aren't able to accurately to troubleshoot local connection problems. Repeated outages and long waits on both tech support and billing line calls (in excess of 15 minutes, sometimes in excess of a half hour to get a person.) Always the assumption is that the problem is the modem or the router or a connection, but this is never the case. Problems mysteriously fix themselves hours or days later without any connection to what they ask you to do on the phone. I can not tell you how many calls I have made to this company but I can say it has meant hundreds of wasted hours over several years. I can not state more adamantly that I would not recommend this company as an internet service provider to anyone in our neighborhood, and in fact am now willing to pay a premium to obtain service from another company.
