I was looking for carpeting that had the Green Label Plus certification by the Carpet and Rug Institute. Unfortunately, I've only come across one salesperson in my area who knows what I'm talking about when I refer to this certification. I did find a quality Karastan carpeting at Great Lakes Flooring that I liked and called Karastan myself to find out whether or not it has this certification. (I was told all their carpeting does.) Great Lakes was offering many different sales when I visited their showroom and it got a bit confusing at times. I was told there was a whole-house installation special of $179; however, that ended two days after I made my first visit. I was unable to make a decision that quickly. The salesperson said that the installation price would then be per square foot, but either way, the difference in the two prices was minimal. (She knew I was planning on doing the living room, dining room, a hallway and three bedrooms.) I scheduled a measurement. Kurt came out to measure and was very professional. I really appreciated that he took off his shoes at the door. When he was done, he told me he would figure the numbers and then the salesperson would get back to me. Well, the measurement was 1260 square feet and at $0.75 per square feet to install ($945), I just couldn't afford to have Great Lakes carpet my home at this time.
Description of Work: I was looking to replace the carpet in all rooms in my home. I had a measure done and found a carpeting I liked.

My experience with Great Lakes was fabulous! When I called them for an estimate, Scott came over the next day. He wrote up my estimate 5 different ways when I couldn't decide which design to use. He made suggestions about different things that would look nice. He also helped me deal with a cranky insurance adjuster and answered all of my questions. When it was time for the installation I had another contractor come in to do some work before Great Lakes and took longer than planned. They rescheduled with no problem. Then when the got started, the project took less than the time Great Lakes had estimated. I used one of the designs that Scott suggested and he was right- It looks great!
Description of Work: The first floor of my condo flooded and wrecked the flooring. The flooring throughout the first floor was replaced with tile and wood.

They have been more than accommodating, they never tried to up-sell me.
