Jim, my inspector, was there before I was. He seemed very focused and thorough and I feel that he spent a good deal of time, even though it is a small house. I had never gone through a home inspection before and didn't understand why they cost so much (although Seagate is lower than most) but I feel like it was worth my money. Luckily there were not many major problems, but he did make suggestions of small things that he would have fixed if it was his home. He went from when thing to the next, but was always willing to stop and answer questions or explain what he was doing. I never got the feeling that he was just going through the motions. At the end, he laid it all out in a thorough report with pictures and arrows to explain each issue. He gave me an overall assessment first and then went into very detailed descriptions of each problem and made recommendations on how to resolve them. He was very knowledgeable and explained things in a way that I, a single woman, could understand, but without diluting the information. If the other inspectors at Seagate are half as thorough, professional and knowledgeable as Jim, I would use them again and again.

It was terrific. The inspector was prompt, and courteous. The inspector took over 4 hours to inspect the house. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. He let us follow him the entire inspection and we asked several question during the inspection. He was able to answer all our questions. He found major problems with the property. He gave us a DVD with the inspection and with over 120 pictures included. He also gave us his phone number if we had any other questions or concerns.

They were very professional and polite. They answered all my questions. They also had a booklet and DVD that had the results of the inspection. I would recommend them to others.

Seagate Inspections invited the buyer to attend the house inspection unbeknownst to me, so I was very shocked when the buyer showed up at my house. The inspector removed the digital thermostat from the wall for some reason and disconnected a wire, intentional or otherwise. The thermostat malfunctioned and caused my air conditioning to malfunction. I called a HVAC repairman the next morning to fix the air conditioning and he informed me of the cause of all this malfunctioning. In the meantime, the inspector misdiagnosed a drafting/ venting problem in the water heater. A plumber was called in to fix the drafting/ venting problem and informed me that, in his professional opinion, the water heater was drafting perfectly. Therefore, I am out a $65.00 service call charge, and without air conditioning for 26 hours during the hottest days, so far, of this summer. Needless to say, I wouldn't be inclined to trust what this company has to say about the condition of any house.
