It took roughly 3 days. Everything went as planned. Good crew. Cleaned up well. I would recommend to a friend for bathroom remodel. We did our own painting of the bathroom walls to save on cost. They installed two grab bars that I had pre-purchased. I also installed the shower rods myself.

It took six days with 3 different workers coming to the house, each not knowing what needed to be done when they got there. Work was shoddy and rushed at best.

It is our responsibility to provide excellence in work performed for our customers. With that said, we will gladly return to bring our work up to the high standards we hold for ourselves. In regards to length of project - after initial start, we were required to pull off the job while the customer completed the tile floor, and proper dry times were allowed (as outlined in contract and dialogued via emails). This aspect had direct correlation to the timing of project completion.

I have reviewed with our office personnel how this might have transpired - for as you can see by other reviews, this is our first such situation. As most know, there are human error factors in all things. We have reached out to this gentleman several times to extend our apologies and request how we may assist him in his projects, with no response. This is the most we are able to do to rectify his dissatisfaction.

We ordered Kraftmaid cabinets from Lowe's and sought out multiple bids from contractors to install them. We chose Home Solutions because they said they could start the soonest, and it would take 10-12 days. We are now a month behind schedule because they started a week later than they said they would, and claimed that they didn't have all of the information for the install, so they charged us for extra work, and took their sweet time getting it done. I've been told multiple times that an electrician would be here, only to have them no-show, and not even receive a phone call to let me know plans have changed. I had to push back our countertop and floor installations multiple times because they are so far behind schedule. The entire old ceiling had to be taken out for canned lighting, and the team put in a brand new ceiling (although you couldn't tell because of all the blemishes). I had to call and complain that the ceiling was not in fact done, and that took them over two weeks to fix. The seems were showing horribly, and there were tons of nail pops in it as well. The guy they sent to fix it couldn't believe it was a new ceiling because it looked so bad. The team that did it didn't sand the ceiling before it was primed, so it looked like crap! I wanted the ceiling painted before the cabinets were installed, but since they never sent anyone out to fix the ceiling, now I'm stuck painting it myself (I had a painting crew, but they couldn't keep getting pushed back), and I have to paint around all of my cabinets. After inspecting all of the cabinets, the installer dinged and chipped multiple cabinets, (our cabinets cost almost $25,000 and most of them are blemished now). I'm 6 months pregnant, and wanted my kitchen done as quickly as possible. I deeply regret hiring Home Solutions of Maumee! It's been over a month without a kitchen, and they keep on adding extra charges. So the bid that appeared to be the best on timing and price, was all a facade to get our business. They are so unorganized! We have multiple jobs that need to be done to our new house, and they could have made a lot of business off of us, but there is no way I'd ever hire them again!
Description of Work: Home Solutions was hired to demo our previous kitchen, and install our new cabinets that we ordered from Lowe's. They were hired to do all the electrical, and appliance hookup as well.

Angie's List Response to [Member Name Removed] I arrived at this kitchen appointment on time. I was given a rough draft of the kitchen. I asked this client why the cabinet supplier was not installing them. She said that they were too expensive. I asked her for a more detailed schematic of the kitchen cabinets and layout, she responded that since they were not installing, she could not have the plans. My pricing was predicated on the drawing she gave me. Not mentioned or in her drawing was an extensive amount of finish trim, pull out trays, drawers, side skins and half wall construction for installation of her side skins. Again, my pricing was arrived at by the drawing Mrs. [Member Name Removed] presented to me, not on the extensive amount of finish details that were omitted from the drawings. I ask that you please keep in mind, her cabinets were ordered by her and not yet delivered at the time of our contract. I had no control over the delivery or the quality of the cabinets, which came in with multiple defects. My technicians were inundated with Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s continuous complaining about all the flooring, tile and painting companies she had hired. We all know someone that will never be made happy with whatever you do, but we sincerely tried. We at all times were conscious of Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s well-being. This attitude was reinforced, despite her negative review, when she called us and said her tile man had created an electrical issue and asked if we would help. I promptly dispatched my Field Supervisor to correct the problem, which he did at no charge. This is truly who we are, not as portrayed.

It went very well all the way up to and through the plastering. We were very, very pleased with Troy, the main carpenter and Cody his partner. Both were very neat with everything they did, covered our carpeting with canvas drop cloths and cleaned up all things prior to leaving each day. Sometimes we were not even aware that they were going up and down the stairs. Troy and Cody were very respectful of our privacy and our home, They were always careful not to damage anything while they carried large items up to the room. The young man, Ryan, who did our plaster work and knock down finish did an excellent job with this too. We ran into an issue when Troy and Cody were pulled from our site to fix a problem at another site. We were also very pleased with the man who was sent to do the painting of the room. Another person was sent to do the trim work and door frames and finish the work. We were not happy with some of the things he was doing and called to express our feelings and why we were not happy. We did not feel he was ready to work on his own as a finisher, even though he was willing to listen to our suggestions, his skill just wasn't where we wanted it for our room. This young man was then pulled from the job and the following week Troy returned to finish. We are very pleased with the outcome of the bedroom and would use Home Solutions again.
Description of Work: We had an area in our attic that was large enough to put a 10x12 bedroom without the need to raise the roof. the floor needed to be raised to meet existing floor. Home Solutions did all the work needed to meet our need for another bedroom.

I talked to Mike to set up the consultation. He said he was sending Charles out on Friday for the estimate. Thursday they called to confirm the appointment. Charles came exactly at the appointed time. He was pleasant and willing to add the broken fence post replacement in the back yard to the job. We discussed my needs and he made suggestions. He was friendly and very professional. When we agreed, he left to get materials exact pricing and said he would call within an hour. At exactly one hour he called with detailed pricing for materials and labor. He said he was available to do the work the same day. I said that would be wonderful. He came back and asked if it was OK to keep the garage door up and he would work in the driveway and keep the saw dust out of the garage. He had gotten a very pretty railing and even bought special paint with slip proof elements in it. I didn't know that was even available. When that was complete, he went to replace the split rail that was broken. He did not like the post color match so he went and bought one that matched the color better. You would never know it was not the original fence post. I couldn't be happier with Charles or the work he did. The steps and railing are perfect and make the garage look "complete". Not to mention they make my recovery period much safer getting in and out of the house. There was not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. He does beautiful work an is the easiest person to work with. I immediately Emailed a friend who is looking for a remodeling company and told her the company name and number. We both have horror stories about supposed professionals that turn out to be a disaster. When I get my medical bills paid off, I definitely will use this company to do more home updates. I would recommend them to anyone. My experience was so much better than I ever hoped for.

We were absolutely happy. The subcontractor showed up every day on time and worked very hard. The chimney damage was much worse than originally thought; however, they showed us the problems, explained the options and did an outstanding job. We believe they charged a fair price. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

The exterior workmanship and the team that did the work was great. The company fell down in scheduling, communication and follow up . I was in the dark when they would come and when asked it was always an excuse like " the truck broke down, we had to get materials, we had a job run over etc" I never had any idea if or when they would show up. On the interior repair of some window trim and drywall was needed as the exterior work caused some damage on the interior, but was so bad that I had to redo it myself. The 2 day job took a week because of the workers getting to the site late and without the correct materials even though they made a special advance trip to measure for the materials, and still went out each day to get them. Two outstanding items that were of concern. The first was that they wanted to subsitute painted wood for the quoted laminate for my cabinet shelf, telling me it is better, (which i know better since I am an Architect). This would have been cheaper for them but did not match the existing cabinet and was not what was in the quote. Getting the correct material delayed the project by 3 days. The second item of concern is that I authorized additional work for $450 and when the bill came it was more. I called the office twice and was told the Owner would call to discuss the additional amount but he never did. After a few days I sent a check for the agreed to amount.
Description of Work: Work included siding work under bay windows that had decayed in both the front and rear of my house and adding a plastic laminate shelf and modifing a built-in TV cabinet .

First, they did remove the tub but replaced it with another tub and not a walk-in shower per the contract. The owner acted surprised that a tub was installed instead of the shower and blamed it on the warehouse. He did not inspect the work of his employees until I called to inform him of the error. The house was left in a mess and I had to request they clean-up. My husband had to finish installing the drywall panel behind the faucet... We will not use this company to complete the work on our bathroom.

we had a major remodel job in our small bathroom we expanded into the closet to add more room to the bathroom we put a new walk in shower, toilet, vanity, light fixtures, medicine cabinet , floor ,new drywall , painted as well as closets made . They bascially redid everything the plumbing all redone the vent had to be moved in the wall as our toilet moved to opposite side of the room to make bathroom more workable for what we wanted . Mike was very easy to work with and helped us get the bathroom we wanted in the space we had to work with. Also we had a closet moved and remade on the bedroom side of the bathroom came out very well. Brian was our guy he did all the remodeling he was great to work with and did very good work . we love our new bathroom had a pocket door installed and the door frame widened he did a custom job to make it work the door and frame. The plumbing all redone works well. Dave was the plumber. The thing that most impressed me was the honesty of all the staff including the office staff Suzanne and Barbara everyone was so very nice ready and willing to take care of any concerns we had.I knew when I met Mike he was honest and would make sure the job was done right and if we had concerns he would take care of them and he did.The other thing I appreciated was being told if a unexpected issue came up for example when the wall was torn off there was no insulation rotted wood under a window i was shown the problem told the price to fix it and then it was my decision as to what to do. it was fixed. We would have them back again and would recommend home solutions to others.

They painted my oak cabinets. I did not know this at the time, but oak cabinets are not supposed to be painted. I feel like they should have known this since they are the experts. The owner Mike Phillips came out and agreed there was a problem. He also sent a painter who concurred there was a problem. He suggested they could be dug out and repainted. I refused this because I did not want another cobbled up job. He painter concurred. I was told they contacted an insurance company to come out and see the cabinets and after about a month, an insurance agent came and took pictures. He advised his client was now in the service and on deployment and it would be four weeks before he could talk with him. After seven weeks of waiting I called Mike Phillips the owner and told him he would need to settle with the insurance company and pay me himself. He offered me $600 which I told him was not adequate but to send it and I would do what I needed to do. I did call the insurance to let them know what he paid me so they would not pay him more. They informed me that their client did not do any painting in my house and they would not be paying anything on this claim. Seems Mike Phillips suggested to the insurance that $1000 would be a fair settlement. I estimate it cost me $2000 to have this job done by Home Solutions and it has cost me over $3000 to have the doors replaced. I do not feel I have been given a fair settlement. The owner of this company is very dishonest and I would not recommend to his company to anyone. I believe there are employees who understand what went on but of course would not step forward for fear of losing their jobs. I have also reported this company to the Better Business Bureau in our area and to a local TV station that does investigations.
Description of Work: I hired this company to do several things for me. They removed a soffit and repaired the ceiling and wall which was done ok. They painter all walls in the kitchen, living room and entry way which was ok. They painted my oak cabinets which were ruined by doing that.

Response from Home Solutions of Maumee Valley INC
In response to the complaint issued by customer [member name removed], the following is a detailed history of our communication. These are the contents of the original contract entered into by Home Solutions (hereafter referred to as ‘HS’) and signed and agreed to by [member name removed]. Contract Date: July 11, 2012 [member name removed] gives her approval for: remove all kitchen soffits, all counter tops, backsplashes, sink, faucet, remove cabinet doors, drawers, hinges and pulls. Take cabinet doors and drawer fronts to shop to sand, furnish and apply caulk in cabinet door creases and apply 2 coats of hard surface white paint. Install new granite countertops, undermount sink and faucet; furnish and install finished plywood to box-off tops of cabinets; furnish and install crown molding on tops of all wall cabinets. Remove wallpaper; repair and skim coat walls throughout the house; remove loose drywall tape and repair cracks in vaulted ceilings *caused by lack of humidity due to high heat). Apply primer and 2 coats of finish pain on walls and 1 coat on ceiling (the contract called for flash painting but HS painted entire ceilings). Re-install painted cabinet doors and drawer fronts; furnish and install hidden hinges. Work started 11/2012 Work completed 12/2012 Customer called 2/2014 The customer rated HS ‘F’ on communication. The following shows this is not a truthful or valid rating. 1. 2/16/14 HS receives [member name removed] e-mail regarding problem with the cabinets (“painting peeling off cabinet doors”). Customer states she wants a refund. 2. 2/17/14 HS contacts [member name removed] to discuss her concerns. She wants a refund. 3. 2/19/14 HS Owner to [member name removed] home to assess issue. She wants a refund. 4. 2/21/14 HS Painting Contractor to [member name removed] home to assess and advise. 5. 2/24/14 HS Owner calls [member name removed] to review painter’s assessment (actual issue: caulk in creases of cabinet doors was contracting due to dry air caused by excessive heat) and offers to re-prep and re-paint the cabinet doors. [member name removed] does not want this done; she wants a refund. 6. 2/24/2014 HS then contacts Insurance company for instructions on HOW to file a claim (as HS has NEVER had never filed a claim prior to this). 7. 2/28/14 Insurance agent is faxed a copy of the original contract. 8. 3/4/14 [member name removed] calls agent asking when an adjustor will be out for status as she hasn’t been contacted. HS also calls agent. 9. 3/5/14 Insurance agent advised HS he is reviewing information and will advise when claim will be filed. [member name removed] is called by HS with that info. 10. 3/11/14 HS is contacted by Insurance adjustor requesting dates for the work done for [member name removed]. A copy of the contract is faxed to the adjustor. 11. 3/14/14 Insurance agent contacts HS advising that a claim is in process. [member name removed] is called with that info and told an adjustor will contact her but an exact date and time is undetermined because the insurance company is OVERLOADED with EXTREMEM winter claims. 12. 3/19/14 HS is contacted by Insurance adjustor with a claim number. HS attempted to call [member name removed], but her phone was not working and a message was not able to be left. 13. 3/20/14 [member name removed] is reached and given Insurance adjustor’s name and phone number along with claim number. 14. 3/28/14 HS is contacted by [member name removed] saying she wants a conclusion (13-15 months after final work was completed). She wants owner Mike Phillips to work with the insurance company to resolve the problem and issue her a total refund for the work done. 15. 3/28/2014 After re-viewing the signed contract which includes a 1 year workmanship warranty, HS in good faith, mails [member name removed] a check in the amount of $650.00; a fair adjustment refund for a job done 13-15 months ago with no previous indication of any difficulties, particularly with a problem caused by extreme cold weather conditions which prompted prolonged high dry heat in the interior, something no one could predict or control. From the onset, [member name removed] repeatedly stated she wanted her money back. She did not want HS to repair the cabinet doors, which led HS to believe she was only interested in re-facing or replacing all cabinets. [member name removed] did not report the problem until 13-15 months AFTER the completion of the job. HS warranty is for 12 months. We offered to once again prepare, caulk and repaint the cabinet doors at no charge to customer, which once again refused and demanded a full refund. Customer mistakenly reported she received a refund check for $600 when in fact we refunded her $650. In summary, we have attempted to satisfy this customer in a reasonable manner to no avail. Respectfully submitted, Michael T Phillips, Owner, Home Solutions of Maumee Valley

He really didn't want to quote on the work we wanted done. Instead he made his own proposal which wasn't bad but his quote wouldn't have given us what we wanted.
Description of Work: Gave us a quote.

Response from Home Solutions of Maumee Valley INC
This is the first time in my 20+ years in the construction business that I have not been embraced for attempting to save a new customer a significant amount of money. As I reviewed this elderly couple's needs and wants, I saw the potential of fulfilling their needs within the space under their existing roof, rather than adding a costly addition to their home, which would have added about $20-25,000.00 to the estimate. They showed a heightened interest in saving time and money with this suggestion. When I left their home I had a sense that they appreciated this alternative and would give it their consideration. I clearly stated that if not, please brief me so we could re-visit the addition option. We received a phone call from the home owner within the week expressing his sincere thanks for coming out to his home and working through their needs, but were not going to pursue the project with Home Solutions. I can only say that this incident (which should not be a D rating) will not alter my attempts to provide my customers with viable, sensible and cost-effective measures. Mike Phillips, Owner

The owner was very courteous and spoke to us about our options and what we wanted our end project to look like. The men that built the roof had wonderful ideas and we have a one of a kind roof over our deck. They were pleasant and professional and cleaned up after themselves. We appreciate the fine work they preformed in a timely manner and if and when we need more work done they will be the ones we call.
Description of Work: Built a roof over our back deck and installed lights and fans.
