I was not overly impressed with their promptness; but when phoned a second time they did complete the estimate in a timely manner.
Description of Work: I contacted them for an estimate and after providing detailed drawings was not informed of the two week time lag before obtaining an esitmate. When the estimate was delivered it was in the same range as two others, but 15% higher than an equal which I would likely have chosen had the project moved forward. I will consider obtaining a second bid from them on new projects; but I will inform them of this cost disparity and should their price meet the other (from Windy Hill Hardwoods) I would move their "price" from "c" to "b". I hope to be involved in many residential rehab projects and will have more reviews (including service beyond the mere delivery of an estimate) on which to judge their performance.

We completed a good sized remodeling of our kitchen, family room, and dining room in our home. The project started when the 1957 double oven died, and to get an up to date one we needed to modify the associated 1957 cabinet. We and ldquo;foundand rdquo; Jim Artel at Alpine Cabinets from a neighbor who had recently finished a major remodel and loved him. He had also remodeled the kitchen of our friend's previous home. Based on seeing his work and being a repeat cabinet maker for someone who is a very particular customer, we had Jim and ldquo;look atand rdquo; our kitchen. He gave us options and his opinion on trying to match one new oven cabinet to the cost of refurbing and painting or starting from scratch. In the end, and 9 months later, we decided to take the leap and gut the kitchen and family room using a general contractor. Alpine Cabinets was our specified cabinet maker, and was our subcontractor and not the general contractor's. Our cherry cabinets are in now and are beautiful. Jim Artel has a level of detail and craftsmanship that exceeded my already high expectations. Kitchen cabinets were the most angst generating decisions for us, and we worked our way through 4 revisions to Jim's specification drawings over the course of 3 months (He was very patient). He came to the house twice for his measurements. Also, during the general contractor's demolition and electrical wiring he inspected the progress to make sure his plan was OK. Then basic installation so the granite counters could be installed, and then finishing the detail trim work. He worked very well with the general contractor. We compared Alpine's estimate to another smaller cabinet store using well-known semi-custom national cabinet manufacturers. Alpine had higher construction quality, were customized, included standard features that were adders by the other bidder, and actually cost less. I did not fully appreciate what a good decision we had made in choosing Alpine until I witnessed the level of expertise and attention to detail Jim Artel and his son had when installing the cabinets. Where the walls floor and ceiling are not perfectly straight and square, I do not believe a merely and ldquo;goodand rdquo; cabinet maker would have had the experience or taken the time to do a superior job. His knowledge of house construction, in my opinion, is equivalent to a general contractor. When our project expanded into a new fireplace, we had Jim make the mantel, which was also was a good decision based on quality, installation, and price. I have already recommended Jim to one of our friends. In addition to above, he is organized, timely, stuck to his estimate, all adders were based on my decisions, has clear invoicing, and is neater in our home than we are. I obviously cannot say enough positive things about Jim Artel. I expect to be using him in the future for bathrooms, home office, and media center.
Description of Work: Design, construction, and installation of entire kitchen cabinet system. Design, construction, and installation of fireplace mantel.
