They work hard and do a pretty good job. If you can do you own lawn, I think your lawn will look better in the end. Scott?s service compared to others does a good job.

Fertilization went well, & there were reduced weeds in the front, but nearly no weed control in back. That wasn't the biggest issue, though. They didn't call before they slit seeded & they seeded a hole in the ground which is now hidden for people to twist their ankles. Additionally, we weren't able to moisten the slit seeding area so they basically just scratched the surface which gave a VERY poor result. I then called to speak with a manager. I was told I couldn't because a technician would need to come & evaluate it first and if he found anything wrong, he would inform a manager. Well, the tech came out, apparently, & noted that our back yard was sprayed for weeds but there was no flag left. I didn't know if I could leave the dogs out. Didn't know what the progress would be on the slit seed evaluation. I was fed up by this time. Lack of communication & not doing nearly what they said they would do OR miscommunication about what they DID do was really angering me. I called again. First, I had to ask about how long to keep the dogs out of the yard & was told that they would have to call me back. Then, I asked about the slit seeding & was told that the tech said it didn't look that bad. At that point, I just canceled, which they did without a fight...yet. I was called back & told that the yard was NOT sprayed after all & that a manager was planning on coming by to reseed the area. I said not to bother at all. The funny part about all of this is that with the lack of communication during service, I really didn't get to talk to any manager AT ALL. Since canceling, I have had no less than 6 phone calls from management on some level. 6 CALLS! Wish they had done that BEFORE I canceled. The last call was a doosie, though. It was the local manager who explained that the reason I hadn't heard from him is that this all goes through the Dallas call center and corporate first. Um, aren't local managers supposed to handle these things directly...it's what you hire them for? Then, I made the mistake of telling him I had another service with whom I was happy & told him how much they were charging me. THEN it became like an auction. He told me how much I was paying was ridiculous & that he could do it all for 50% of what the other company was doing it for. Ironically, I was paying MORE for TrueGreen than I am with the other company. Thus, he reduced his own company price by nearly 60%. Can someone tell me why THAT price wasn't the original price I was paying??? If you can cut costs that much, do it from the beginning! After I said no, the manager intimated how stupid I was not to go with his cheaper offer. Note to managers: insinuating that the customer is stupid is no way to earn business back! The next call I get from them will be bordering on harassment at this point. But I hope not to hear from them ever again. I will NEVER recommend them!
Description of Work: They were hired to do fertilization, weed control, all-over seeding and slit seeding to one particular area. They were asked to call before they came, particularly for the slit seeding so that a hole there could be filled, the area could be moistened (our lawn is very compact) and to ensure dogs were inside. They said, "No problem. We'll call before we come."

I hired this company on the recommendation of my next door neighbor. I contacted the company, and told the representative that in the fall of 2009 I had removed a huge flower garden from the front yard and replaced it with sod, and had just had the entire yard aerated. But the yard still had a number of weeds, the grass needed nourishment, and I wanted a professional, reliable service to improve the quality of the lawn over the summer. I paid in advance, in full, for a series of five treatments, which I was told would take place every 4-6 weeks over the summer months. The first and only treatment was on April 27, 2010. In checking my treatment schedule on-line, my yard was due for the next treatment on May 25, 2010. I did not receive that treatment. After two weeks, the May 25th scheduled date disappeared from the on-line schedule and was replaced by "service pending." I noticed some weeds in the yard were shriveling after the first treatment. But so were the poppies and daylilies in a flower bed adjacent to the grass along side my garage. I wasn't pleased, but I decided not to complain at that time, assuming that the service tech mistakenly thought he was treating emerging weeds instead of flowers. As of June 9th, my yard still had not received the second treatment and none was scheduled on-line. Also, there was a balance owing on my account, which there shouldn't have been since the company figured the amount of all five treatments and I had paid the entire bill in advance by charging the amount over the phone before I received the first treatment. So I called customer service. I began by telling the service rep about the balance due on the account. She offered no explanation or solution other than telling me to ignore it. I started to tell her about the dead plants, and that I was not pleased about not receiving the service I had paid for. But she interrupted me, and talked over me as I was trying to voice my complaint, not listening to a word I was saying. Which frustrated and angered me. So finally I raised my voice and said very loudly "Do not interrupt me!" She told me that I couldn't speak to her "that way." I didn't use any profanity or foul language. I told her again to stop interrupting me and she told me I couldn't speak to her "that way." She said she was trying to apologize. I told her I didn't want an apology. I wanted to cancel the service and a refund for the remaining four treatments, which she would have known of she'd stopped interrupting me, talking over me, and listened to what I was trying to say. Supposedly the service has been canceled and I'll receive a refund in the mail. I have never spoken with a customer service rep as rude as this one. Repeatedly interrupting the customer, talking over me, refusing to listen to my complaints, and then accusing me of being rude to her because I raised my voice so I could be heard, is very bad business.
Description of Work: I hired this company to fertilize and treat for weeds in my front yard and along the sides of my house.

The price is for lawn treatment. The pest control runs $67 and they come three times a year for that. They are excellent and we are very happy with them. Our lawn looks great and we don't have bugs in our house. We've been with them for about five years. Our lawn was terrible when we first moved in.
Description of Work: We use Scott's Lawn Service for fertilizer and lawn treatment. They also do pest control.

I don't know if the guy was in a hurry or wanted to save on chemicals but there were large strips of grass that went untreated! I ended up with a striped lawn with weeds popping up in the untreated sections! When I called to express my disappointment they had another guy come out to spray the weeds. He ended up spraying and killing many of my perennials inside a well defined, pavered flower bed! Ugh! They were horrible! Look elsewhere for lawncare!

I started to use Scotts Lawn Service last year upon friend's reference. They came over 5-7 times in a year, mainly for fertilizing and treatment. I was told it should cover major weed removal and prevention. I also ordered an extra service last fall for aeration. Generally I'm satisfied with the service. The frequency of service was predetermined when started the contract. I was not informed in advance for each service, but would find a bill with service details at the door on the service day, as well as a sign on the lawn. I can also go online to check the service and pay. The only thing negative is that I can still find some weed on the lawn, though I believe that there would be more without their service. I'll continue to use the company for at least another year to see whether there would be some impressive changes in the long run.

It was horrible. I have used Trugreen since 2007 on an annual contract (prepaid)--and for several years at a previous address. I decided this year to go with someone more local and better rates who had done work for me before. When I received the bill for annual renewal, I threw it away, since I was not going to use their services. They applied the treatment anyway (after my other contractor had already done it). When I called to complain, I was told that since I had not told them that I didn't want the treatment , they assumed that I did. They agreed to cancel future treatments, but insisted that I pay for the unauthorized treatment or they would turn me over for collection. The customer service representative told me that the bill for annual fee had a statement to contact them if I did not want service. I know of no other company that you pay on annual basis (such as a magazine subscription?) that requires you to tell them that you don't want to renew. For most companies, if you don't pay, the service stops, but apparently not Trugreen. They'll continue the service and send it for collection even though you haven't authorize the continuation of that service by not paying to renew it after it has lapsed. In addition, the man I spoke to on the telephone had a very cavalier attitude with poor customer service skills. I do not see how I can be turned over for collection (my wife and I have very good credit ratings) for something I did not tell the company I wanted, but because I didn't tell that I didn't want it.

They did come regularly. It seemed like they came more in the winter until I called and complained to wait until summer. It always seemed like the weeds were going away, but the next spring the grassy weeds would come back in full force. Grassy weeds are still covering 35-50% of our lawn. They hardly treated for grassy weeds during their normal treatments. I would ask for them to come spot treat the grassy weed for free like they promise, but they would respond that they cannot until it is continually over 80 degrees during the day and night....well that isn't until summer, and the grassy weeds have already taken over by spring because the bermuda doesn't start growing until late spring... This phone called happened repeatedly. Only once did they come and do a large portion of the weeds in our lawn, and that was after a threatening phone call.They never came when we were home so we could show them the weeds and make sure they treated.
Description of Work: We had Scotts LawnService do fertilization and weed treatment for over 2 years. They came 8 times a year to treat our front and side yard at $76, and during the summer, they also did additonal spot treatements 2-3 times for free.We started using them becuase they said that they gauranteed 90% less weeds in one year. We have a wide variety of grassy weeds in our front and side lawn which was the sole reason we started treatements.

My evergreen trees were not doing well , so I decided to cancel tree/shrubs services. I still wanted to keep lawn services and let them know when called and cancelled tree service, I also paid my balance in full at that time. I didn't expect any trouble, didn't keep confirmation number. A few days later, they came to my house and applied tree/shrub service again, then sent me a bill. I called again, explained situation and CSR said she'd take care of this, this time I kept confirmation number and the name. But today, I got additional call, asking to pay remaining balance. The person seems the manager who did the tree/shrub service, started explaining my trees were good ( which I didn't want to argue with him about, I still have the right to cancel, even if I had a small doubt or not), he also was rude to me, argued with me , I gave him confirmation number and the name, he kept arguing with me prior to checking with that person and said my confirmation number was invalid. Eventually, he agreed to check with the person , but I expect no better news when they call me back. I am very dissapointed with customer service. Even if there is no record I wanted to cancel, they should have honored customer's word, this is only $55 and I'd continued to be their loyal lawn customer. I will cancel lawn care company now, would like to feel good with customer service and be sure I can always cancel if want to without being harassed to continue with them and pay the bill whenever they feel like.

We have been using them for two years and they have been pretty good. They come once a month now and that will stop during the winter. The appearance of the lawn has improved since we have been using them. I have .8 of an acre. When they spray, they put a sign in the yard and they put their findings on a piece of paper on our door.

Scott's came out and did core aeration on my lawn which is about 1/3 of an acre. Someone answered the phone both times I called instead of getting to voice mail. The invoice was left on the door. They had multiple payment options. Very pleased with the service.

They gave me a very good price and picked up a tree according to what I liked. They sent out two employees who are very nice. I also asked them to move another bush that I had. They did a very nice and neat job. I then asked them to remove a trunk of a tree for me, and they did. I compensated them for the extra work and was very grateful that they were so accommodating. They charged me $400 for both the price of the tree and the planting.

They did a good job and reported accurately on what they did. They were very accommodating. Their charges have varied between $50 and $60. We have been satisfied with them and we will probably use them in the spring.
Description of Work: We use Trugreen to take care of our trees. They do the trees, and spray the shrubs and the roses for insects and that sort of thing. The last time they were here for the beetles. They came 4 or 5 times during the summer months.

I have used them for a couple years. However, I am not satisfied with my lawn, at least my back yard. I have done everything they have told me to do and have had them do everything that they wanted to do. I am not thrilled yet. I may give them one more chance, I may not. I haven't decided as yet. The lawn is not responding the way I would like it to respond. The price is reasonable and in line with the other companies. I am not sure about the quality of work. They were responsive as they did come and look at my lawn and give me advice on what needed to be done. They were here when they were supposed to be here. My overall experience was average because I am not through with the results.

I am not really happy with them. Once, they didn?t do a thorough job and the guy who came out, just rushed over everything. They always come out again and fix problems. In turn, they give me a free application. They always end up redoing things, instead of doing it right, the first time. Their prices are high, too. They are pretty responsive. They never inform when they come out. They just come out and treat the lawn whenever, they are in the neighborhood. I don?t think I?ll use them again.

I have used others, but, when Scotts took over, the grass seems to have fewer weeds. They are quite responsive about anything that you asked them to do or any complaints that you might have. They used to do six treatments a year and now they provide seven treatments which I thought was unnecessary.

Rotten experience, I will never EVER use Scotts again. They don't follow through with the simplest of instructions.
Description of Work: HORRIBLE! They contacted me a few months ago about starting up service again. I reluctantly tried them again since we had just moved. They offered a special on aerting and overseeding, I told them only if they called the day before, and waited til I gave them go ahead since we were having an addition put on the house. Well sure enough, no call ahead and they came out while my back yard had a huge pile of wood and trusses in it and the ground hadn't even been leveled out. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. Have asked them to contact me to discuss, however, they have not bothered to return messages.

The lawn treatments cost around $600 total a year, does not worth the value. They also sold me the Grub control with guarantee, but big part of lawn is dead because of the Grubs, the technician first tried to deny it and tried to sell me also $200 for seeding, and finally I through BBB to request them reseed for free. Very lousy service and totally rip off.

So far we are satisfied. Our grass has thickened and is growing well. We did not have weeds before and do not now. Our main complaint with our previous company was that our lawn was getting progressively thinner and what they were doing was not helping. We used the previous company for seven years.
