This company has terrible customer service. Plus I suspect they intentionally damaged my roof in order to file an insurance claim and repair it. If you like missed appointments and being ignored, this company is for you.

I called Rugh’s Mon Jun 7 & asked them to evaluate a gutter problem & estimate repair. They said they’d talk to someone and call me back. I got no call so I called again Wed Jun 9. They offered someone could come that day but I wanted to be there to talk to them and I wasn't going to be available until after 2:30. They said someone could come Thurs between 12-2 and I agreed. No one came or called to reschedule. When I realized I had a gutter problem, I called them first because they're located just a mile from my house, I’ve seen their vans at neighbors’ houses, and I like giving business to hometown companies. So I was very disappointed when I made my time available and they no-call/no-showed me. I concluded they’re unreliable and decided to find someone else.

Rugh's Remodeling and Restoration did a tear off and re-roof on my house and garage. They were on time and gave full details of what to expect ahead of arrival. The crew worked hard and had the job completed by the end of the day. There was one small detail of damage to a flower bed and Rugh's went the extra mile to make it right. That's the highest level of good customer service. I would give Rugh's the highest recommendation for anyone needing any of the services that they provide.

Throughout the entire process, they maintained terrific contact and were always punctual. They were very good on pricing and worked well with adjusters and insurance. They also managed the multiple work scope and subcontractors well. Everything was great and they are definitely at the top of my list for any future work. I only give a B for quality due to some items such as poor exterior outlet initial installation and gutter getting damaged/bent after painting. However, once I informed of the issue, they resolved as with anything to which I wasn't satisfied. They also went the extra mile to get our exterior water faucets replaced which ultimately required a plumber. This level of work was not initially thought to be required and was not quoted, but was completed at no extra cost to me. They will take care of you.

To start with my rating is becaus of lousy follow up service. The initial work/ contact w Tom - who is no longer with them - was fine. Worked with us and insurance company. Over 33 square were removed and replaced in 1 day. My problem relates to damage done to gutter brackets a damaged downspout and the lack of response to fix them. Work was done in November or 2017. There has been no answering of calls to their office, no response to voice mails left on their service. When I ran into two of their people at the home and garden show they said to call their office and talk to Rhonda. I don’t think she exists. Not true because she did answer my my email when I was trying to get my warranty. In fairness total clean up, courtesy of the onsite crew and overall roofing job was fine. But with several brackets missing on my gutters, I don’t feel the job was completed satisfactorily. They would have received a much better rating from us if they had responded to the concerns. So if you want to use them just make sure all your gutters, downspouts, shrubs are fixed or not damaged.

-Roof was installed Monday, November 6, 2017, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 and Wednesday, November 8, 2017. (Cold and partial wet days the first 2 days of install) A little insight of how the first day went: I was told they would not do if we had any precipitation on any of those days. I was told they would do the roof in sections and cover roof to protect from rain. The first day they tore off old roof and laid felt. They left exposed wood not protected by felt and that night we had very hard and long rain showers. I text them at 4:00 am the morning of the second day because they assured me my roof would be covered from rain. I wake up to several men at 6:30 am in the pouring rain trying to cover an enormous roof with 8 small tarps. Needless to say this was a problem. They had told me that it didn’t matter if the felt got wet and after a long intense argument and after I called Owens Corning who told me not to let them lay any shingles on my roof that had wet felt they agreed to replace with synthetic felt which they said could be laid in any weather conditions. The Gaf Synthetic Felt was supposed to be fastened with only plastic cap nails or plastic cap staples (which was not used by them). After the complete installation of the new roof my mortgage company, PNC came to do an inspection and pointed out some concerns that they noticed. Upon that info I had 3 other roofing consultations, with 3 different roofers and all reports were consistent noting the biggest items below. Should this go to court there is a bunch of little items but in effort not to split hairs below is the MAJOR issues. Per the roof inspector who inspected my roof prior to new install and after new install his words verbatim, “You have a much worse roof now than you had with the old damaged roof prior to this install.” The following was found and consistent problems noted by 3 roof inspection after new install (Note)-The shingles are Owens Corning Oakridge Estate Grey. I was told and sold that the shingles were of better quality than my previous shingles. This is untrue, Owens Corning Oakridge is a the base entry level dimensional shingle that is typically used on entry level track built homes not on $750,000 custom homes. Below is just the problems that can be determined from general observation it is unknown what other problems or improper installation is below general observation. The shingles are NOT laying flat AND badly buckling for various reasons. Even after the sun and warmer weather the shingles will look the same due to improper installation procedures. Of which the Owens Corning product warranty clearly states as reasons they can void the warranty. 1. Underlayment appears to have wrinkled during installation. 2. Decking not cleaned off completely prior to install 2. Shingles are NOT to be loaded or stored across ridge. Shingle bundles are to remain flat especially when cold and for extended periods of time. They were on the the ridges for the entire 3 days of which time it was below 40 degrees and wet which makes the problem worse. 3. Shingles were installed in cold temperatures. Hip and Ridge cap evaluation 4. Ridge caps being installed in cold temperatures, has caused cracking at the apex of the Hip and Ridge. 5. The newly installed ridge caps are standard 3 tab shingles that they cut and not Owens Corning Pro Edge designer ridge cap. (old roof had designer ridge caps not cut three) This has caused the uneven wavy look that had not been present in old roof . Underwriters Laboratories recommends installing above 40 degrees minimum. 6. The shingles are not installed on a even horizontal plane with roof eave. Causing uneven rows of shingles especially across main front gable at entry. 7. Starter course of shingle that installs at entire perimeter eave (290 lineal feet), is installed in increments of 3 feet. The starter rows have up to 6 inch gaps from one to another (should set edge to edge around entire perimeter.) Refer to figure 17 of the Owens Corning installation guide 8. Valley metal is raised in areas. Valley shingles have been installed incorrectly according to the Owens Corning Roof installation guide Refer to Figure 19 of installation guide. 9. Shingles were not laid evenly causing the inconsistent look of roofing 10. Chimney flashing has been re-used and caulked with silicone. Step flashing around the chimney is misaligned and has exposed holes. 11. Several damaged shingles and several shingles with holes 12. Old damaged bent furnace cap was reused and painted black. Rubber gasket on pipe boots are painted and covered in silicone 13. Ice shield gaps between shield and shingles leaving wood exposed under not properly installed in several areas. 14. Nails not sealed in flashing throughout

Response from Rugh's Remodeling & Restoration LLC
In every way does Rugh'[Member Information Removed] Remodeling strive for the best experience possible for all of our consumers. We truly take pride in all we do and have always tried our best to resolve the hand full of complaints over the years. With averaging 400 roofing systems per year and in the thousands in our companies lifetime;very few times has any problems with our customers . With the [Member Name Removed] job we were here from beginning to end trying to restore the home to its pre storm condition. We inspected it and handled the claims process to ensure the homeowner would be correctly recovered by her insurance company. We go over our product line and process and then pick colors with the homeowner to begin the scheduling and build process. In this case the consumer had specific days she wanted the build to happen on so we tried to appease her in every way. When dealing with the insurance companies our estimates and product quality is based off of what is existing on the home. We provided the consumer with a Owens Corning Oakridge laminated dimensional shingle which is considered a 40 year shingle with amazing warranty and specs. The first day went off like any other build, we wrapped up shop and looked forward to getting back out the next day to continue progress and get completed. Unfortunately mother nature has its own game plan and decided that a 10 percent chance of rain through the evening meant pour buckets of rain through the early am. Fortunately we had the home weathered in and didn't result in the home being damaged inside. We worked through that the morning of the second day with the homeowner and got back busy. The roof got completed and next we did the gutter system. I received a call from Teri happy and thankful that we got through this occurrence as a team. At this time we hadn't received any form of down payment due to the homeowners request for an immediate installation and the insurance check needing to be endorsed by her mortgage company. Which is not uncommon for us to provide work in advance of being a deposit. Weeks went by and Ms. [Member Name Removed] became very difficult to get ahold of and not one complaint since the build. Once it came to the time that our right as a company to place a lien was almost up i reached out letting her know that it would be happening and that in no way was this against her or a case of not thinking she would pay, but step that was necessary to protect my business. She understood and still no complaint of any kind. Then she reached out with several problems and wanted resolution. She told me she hired several companies to inspect her roof and there were issues. I asked for copies of them and pics so we could review and resolve or for myself to come personally and inspect everything and go from there. She told me no one would be getting on her roof until spring because we were now several months past installation and the middle of the worst winter on record in 20 plus years. (which to my knowledge the roof did its job through). So i said ok we will wait until then. She messaged me that i was being notified that myself or anyone affiliated with Rugh'[Member Information Removed] Remodeling were not allowed on her property. We are more then happy to come out and resolve any issues that may be present. All it takes is a phone call and some scheduling. In no way does Rugh'[Member Information Removed] Remodeling stand for nor allow corners to be cut. If something was then it will be resolved the best way humanely possible. Ms [Member Name Removed] continues to defame my companies character through out social media and other avenues. We at Rugh'[Member Information Removed] have never been sued for roofing or any kind of home remodeling issues. We strive for the best and will continue to do so. Let me know when further action or resolution is needed.

Received company name via referral from a neighbor who hired them. Eric handled the whole project from the first call to final call including calling with me present to the insurance company to begin our claim. The estimate was in line with others but more importantly, Eric did a phenomenal job working with the insurance adjusters to help get everything covered beyond our deductible. The roof was replaced while we were out of the country and grandparents were watching the kids. Both Grandfathers monitored the install and said everyone involved did a fantastic job including clean up....We literally only found one stray nail that was missed.

Went well. Installed new roof within a few days of signing the contract. They worked with the insurance company to get the roof replaced for only our deductible payment, which was reduced for a referral, a yard sign, and a review on Angie's List. The roof replacement was completed in one day's time. No problems so far, although I can now hear the rain outside my bedroom window, so I'm not sure if the gutter was damaged and have not contacted Rugh's in relation to it. The subcontractor left some minor debris and killed grass on our front lawn. No problem, the grass revived and the debris was easily removed by my husband. The problem we ran into is that when the trim was removed from the window, there was clear damage to the plywood, etc. beneath. The subcontractor, Al, was going to complete the work. Al's response was sporadic. He'd show up randomly and say he'd be back the next day and never showed. Eric inspected the area a couple of different times and still said they could replace it, but now there would be a greater charge. Okay, that's to be expected. After my husband's repeated messages and texts he finally got in touch with him. Eric made a trip out to pick up the final insurance check and said that the work would be completed over Labor Day Weekend (over 30 days from the initial trim removal). Labor Day Weekend came and went with no workers and no contact from Eric at all. My husband left him a message Tuesday after Labor Day. No response. My husband finally began texting and calling daily with no response. After more than a couple of weeks, the secretary called my husband and explained that Al had skipped town and Eric was in the process of finding a new hire to replace him. Oh, and could we please send the check that Eric forgot that day in August? She said that she would let us know when they hired someone to complete the work. Meanwhile, we have a huge blue tarp covering the entire corner of our house and kitchen windows. At this point the secretary began calling us repeatedly about the check, with nothing to say about Al's replacement or when they planned on finishing the work that they started. In addition, Eric removed a small piece of our neighbor's siding because he said it would be no problem for them to find a match and replace a larger piece that my son had damaged. Not only are we being affected, but so is our neighbor, an elderly woman who just wants her house fixed. Finally, on September 29, Eric's brother Anthony called us and threatened legal action over the remaining $2,000 check. At which point, I called and spoke to the secretary. She took the information that Eric was supposed to pick up the check when he replaced our neighbor's siding. I explained that we were happy to spread word of mouth about their company and how they tore the corner of our house apart and then abandoned us. Within minutes Eric texted my husband and said they they have gone above and beyond to help us, that they took the siding from our neighbor and tore apart our house as a favor to us. Anthony called me and apologized for all of the issues, assured me that my neighbor's house would be completed by the end of the week, and that he had instructed Eric to ask us to consult with a builder regarding our house. At this point, now October 19, still no completed work at my neighbor's house, they still have the piece of siding that belongs to my neighbor and there has been no additional communication from them. Rugh's is definitely on my never hire list. I cannot recommend their company to anyone in good conscience.
Description of Work: We contacted Rugh's to provide an estimate on our roof. Eric completed the estimate and was gracious enough to work with our insurance company. The roof was replaced by a sub-contractor on July 30. Eric also indicated he could replace some trim around our kitchen window and a damaged piece of siding on our neighbor's house.

Ron & Tony came to my house to consult me on how to bring more natural light into my 1950s ranch home. I was considering a sky light but they talked me into a picture window instead and they were 100% correct. Tommy came over and installed the window taking only a couple of days which was amazing considering the cold and snowy weather. The new window is twice the size of my old window so he had to cut a big hole in the front of my house. He taped plastic to the ceiling around his work area to keep the dust to a minimum, installed window, moved my front porch light over, hung shutters, framed the window inside, applied drywall and got it ready for me to paint and hang curtains. He also cleaned up the work area after each work day and hauled away debris. The new window is beautiful and I love it. I wish I could share a picture on here to show everyone how nice it is. I plan to hire Rugh's again in the future. This is a wonderful company and everyone was very professional, friendly and polite.

In early September, 2014 I was in the process of bidding a full roof replacement for our home. I noticed my neighbor was having his home re-roofed one Saturday and decided to ask the company for a bid after observing their quality workmanship. Eric Rugh took my call and was agreeable to meet with me the following day - a Sunday! The appointment was at 4 PM and Mr. Rugh was punctual, professional and not pushy. He took the time to answer my questions and I was impressed with his knowledge and confidence. I was honestly thinking of replacing our roof myself since I had re-roofed previous homes but was not sure I had the energy to switch out a fairly large roof. The other roofing sales people gave me the feeling that they had someplace better to be, did not answer my questions, look me in the eye, etc...Eric took the time to prepare a full estimate and pointed out multiple areas with hail damage (most noticeable on soft metals ) which had damaged gutters, shingles and screens. In addition, he found wind damage on both roof elevations. He informed me that the roof replacement for our home would be $11,100 which was the second to lowest bid I had received from company's that you see and hear about constantly in various advertising media. He also told me that he thought that I had a legitimate storm damage claim and I may consider filing a claim. He thanked me for my time and left without aggressively trying to sell the roof replacement. I ultimately contacted our insurance company and filed a claim. Eric met with the claims adjuster three days later and the claim was approved. Work commenced three weeks later after insurance company delays and all of the roof tear off, replacement, clean up, etc was completed in one day with the new gutters/downspouts being replaced three days later. This experience was one of the few times in my life that the and quot;stars alignedand quot; properly - meeting my wife, the birth of our children and meeting Eric Rugh. You might think I'm kidding but the experience with Eric and Rugh Remodeling and Restoration was truly impressive and refreshing. Thank you and email me at fflaherty@insight.rr.com if you have further questions.

Tony was very responsive when I contacted him for some roof repairs and the water damage it left on my ceiling. He was out the following day to assess the situation. Most of my shingles had been bent during a recent wind storm and he walked me through the process of contacting my insurance company. He made my scary situation a simple, easy and stress free process. Within a week my roof was replaced and the ceiling was repainted. Every crew member was courteous, friendly and paid attention to every detail. When I came home the evening the ceiling had been painted I never would have known they were there; the house was spotless. I've worked with contractors in the past that leave a mess behind and neither the painters nor the roofers left anything behind. I am thrilled with the finished products and have already referred them to several family members and friends. I highly recommend using Rugh's for your roofing and remodeling needs. A+ in my book!

Eric Rugh (Sales Manager) and Jeremy Garber (Project Manager) were in our neighborhood providing a free roof inspection for one of our neighbors. I approached them and introduced myself. Both gentlemen were very polite and professional. They carefully explained they had recently completed two roof replacements in our neighborhood and were inspecting our neighbor's roof at our neighbor's request. They kindly agreed to inspect my roof when they were done at my neighbor's home. From my window, I watched them on my neighbor's roof. They seemed to be very thorough. The carefully tested the shingles to see if they were loose and sustained wind or hail damage. After they were through, they went up on our roof to inspect. After their inspection, they met with me and carefully reviewed a hand drawn diagram of my roof. They inspected gutters (no damage) and the shingles. There had been some terrible storms rip through our area over the past summer, and they reported damage in many areas of my roof. The damaged areas were indicated on the drawing. They carefully explained the process and urged me to absolutely have someone, even if it's not them, be with us should we report this damage to our insurer. He said it was important to have someone like him to help look out for us. I trust my insurer, but I agree with his sentiments. While I'm not certain to go with them on the repair/replacement, their level of detail and professionalism during the inspection landed them on my short list of possible contractors. The last thing I would mention, is that I did ask them about Angies List. He told me that "they are on Angies List", but it's hard to get listed on the website. I grew suspicious (I'm quite a pessimist, unfortunately). So, I called Angies List, and asked how someone could "be on Angies List", yet not show up online. Turns out Eric was telling the truth. Rugh's submitted their name for Angies List in May, and members (like myself), can submit reviews online by manually entering their contact information. However, Angies List refuses to list them until there are 3 reviews. So, this is their 1st official review. So, they passed another test - not making up some story about why they can't be found on Angies List. If I use their services for repairing/replacing my roof, I will definitely return to post a very detailed, full review. Bottom line with Rugh's Remodeling and Restoration, LLC... so far so good.
