Gene is skilled, meticulous, and does top quality work. I'm glad I hired him. For any future electrical needs, he will be my first call.
Description of Work: Gene replaced and installed 3 new exterior lights next to the front door and the garage. He's an excellent electrician.

+ -1 moreServiceman came early and went straight to work. Isolated the problem within minutes and began the repair. Explained everything he was doing and also explained my error during my DIY repair of the problem. He also offered an explanation as to how the GFCI system works and what to look for if other similar problems occur. Technician was professional, pleasant and confident in his work. Will definitely use in the future. I have not used an electrician before so I am not certain what normal/average rates are per hour. Be advised that the rate as of today is $125 for the first hour. He was there less than an hour but I believe additional hours were $85 per.

+ 0 moreAn unforeseen consequence of taking my side porch off and rebuilding a new side deck was that I had to redo the wiring to accommodate an outdoor light before the city would sign off on the deck permit completion. I got Gene's name from the list of certified electricians for my neighborhood. Looked him up on Angie's list and found a perfect A rating. Gene was very responsive and came out quickly to assess the situation, provide recommendations and give me an estimate. He also was able to squeeze me in within a few days of that visit. He aligned the motion sensor & lights perfectly, installed an on/off switch at the conduit in the basement, and provided the light fixture. He also did a follow up call a few days later to ensure I was satisfied. Very professional.

+ -1 moreMy objective was to address safety issues with the older wiring in a house we had just purchased. A home inspector had already recommended that this work be done. Mr.Goubeaux assessed the job, provided a bid, and clearly explained what the job entailed and why. He completed the work on schedule and exactly as spec'd. Mr Goubeaux is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and attentive to details. I could probably have obtained a lower bid, but given the quality of the work and resulting peace of mind, this was well worth the price.
Description of Work: Replaced electrical service with new 200A panel, new service connection, new mast. Added new GFCI circuits, and additional rewiring and repairs.

+ 0 moreWe originally hired him to do about 20% of what he ended up doing. He quoted us an hourly rate and was good to his word on that. Instead of the two hours he estimated, it took close to eight hours. That was our fault though for asking him to do a lot more. He worked diligently and was efficient with his time. He is very easy to get along with and knows what he is doing. I gave him all "A"s except for price because he charged more for materials than I could have bought them for a Home Depot. Maybe that is what all electricians do these days, but that seemed a little odd to me. It wasn't a lot fo money, but it did put an edge on the experience that was otherwise great. I wouls definitely recommend him for anyone needing a home electrical project to be done professionally.
Description of Work: Split the basement wiring onto three zones and added three breakers to allow for better control. Also created three lighting areas so that the lights are not on in the whole basement whenever we turn on the first switch.

+ -1 moreThis is my first review ever written on Angie's List after years of membership. I normally just read reviews. Mr. Goubeaux was so good to us, I felt compelled to say something about his work. if you need ANY electrical work, I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: i have worked with many contractors over the years and never, have I been as impressed as I was with Mr. Goubeaux. He came out on a weekend to discuss my electrical needs around installing a exterior connection for a generator and took over an hour explaining my options including one that included him not making any money at all. He explained how I can save money by calling my electric provider AEP and having them install a plug at the meter called GenerLink. He even called to follow up with me to see if there was anything else he could do. At that time, I told him I was going with his suggestion around Generlink. He is a true tradesman and honest to the core. I would be nice if everyone were as intelligent and honest as Mr. Goubeax. If I ever need additional electrical work or hear of any of my friends that do, I will certainly suggest they call Mr Goubeaux.

+ -1 moreWorking with Gene to address an electrical issue at my son's home was delightful. He systematically worked to identify the cause of the problem. Once the cause was identified, we discussed a "quick-fix" and the "right" fix. The latter was chosen. Gene regularly suggested a couple of ways to address an issue as we proceeded through the project which led to an excellent outcome. I would definitely ask him back for further electrical work.

Description of Work: I had several outlets in the house that quit working. Used Angie's list to find Mr.Goubeaux. When I spoke to him he offered me a couple of possible self fixes to try and we scheduled an appointment just in case. Turns out one of the free hints he gave me solved the problem and he did it over the phone no charge. I don't know that I have ever had a professional offer me free advice to solve my problem before. Description of Work: I came home to find my bathroom outlets were suddenly not working. I checked the breaker box and the GFI, and I thought I had reset reset them, but nothing seemed to work. I called Mr. Goubeaux b/c he was in my service area and had great reviews. Mr. Goubeaux was kind enough to walk me through the process again, this time explaining I needed to unplug anything from those outlets, in order for the reset to occur. I have done some light electrical work in my day and I had NO idea I needed to do that. Voila, the reset worked and the outlets were once again 'on'! It was very kind of Mr. Goubreaux to walk me through that vs coming out and charging me for something so trivial. I truly appreciate his kindness and the time he spent with me. I hope to never need electrical work, but if I do, he's the first company I will call, and I will most-assuredly recommend him to anyone who asks for a trustworthy electrician.
