Waterproofing and Foundation Repair. We offer a Free inspection for home owners.
No service performed, but they went and quot;door to doorand quot; in my mother's neighborhood. Talked her into returning for an estimate. Spent about 30 minutes max doing the and quot;free inspection.and quot; Then told her they would have to come back to do more detailed work - but the first cut estimate was and quot;5 figures.and quot; Fortunately, my mother is a sharp lady and we always cover any of these and quot;servicesand quot; before we do anything. Please note that she is 86 years old, so this door to door thing and the and quot;5 figuresand quot; estimate is concerning to me. Just based on that and quot;marketingand quot; approach and these Angie list ratings, we won't be continuing any conversations with this company. By the way, she's been in the house for 16 years, and while she has two spots in two different places that sometimes during the heaviest of rains (repeat days, etc) we do see some moisture on the wall surface, it has never even been enough to drip down the walls or collect at all. So 10K plus seems a bit overkill as preventative measures, don't you think? (this was in Heath Ohio)

All repairs were completed as described and workers were very professional. Workers cleaned up at the end of each day they were here and took every effort to see we were inconvenienced as little as possible. After several years the submersible sump pump failed and they responded to my phone call promptly and made the necessary repairs.

This was the worst and most expensive service that I have ever had completed. They destroyed my basement leaving concrete dust everywhere and on everything. This was completed in 1995 I believe and it took 1 year of getting my home and my basement to be livable. I had to spend months getting them to clean up the mess. They had to re-do the job 3 times before it was done correctly. This is the worst company that I have ever dealt with and would not recommend them to anyone. Worst experience that I have ever had with any business. DO NOT USE THEM.

They called the day before the appointment to confirm and I told them that I wanted to cancel. The woman on the phone began asking me I would be home and did not seem to want to cancel the appointment as requested. I told her that I had other companies that I was working with and getting estimates from. Still, she was very insistant and would not cancel the appointment. Later in the day, I contacted the company that had done some other basement work for me to ask their opinion if I needed this companies service. Afterwords, I called EverDry back and again tried to get them to cancel the appointment. She insisted that another opinion is always helpful. I told her that I did not contact them for help and that I was happy with the companies I had been working with. I finally had to lose my temper with the lady and insist that the appointment be cancelled.
Description of Work: They came to my home to offer a free home inspection. My husband said he would talk to me before scheduling an appointment and they said they would go ahead and set an appointment anyway and would cancel for any reason.

I was not pleased with their approach to estimate. In Angie's List, my experience is consistent with many of the other comments that were there that it seems we never got to the work almost every without exception, we're satisfied with the work that was done. If not, at least satisfied. However, there's chance to be a pattern of their approach to sales that begins with a higher price and a little more urgency than maybe appropriate and then kinda repeat it how we could actually do it and each time, bringing the price down. And so, it's just self very much like something about beating switch. It's a wrong terminology but they were just didn't care for the approach.

I was first visited by two salesmen for a FREE evaluation of my basement to include suggestions and/or repairs I could do myself. I had just purchased my house in October 2012. In hindsight, I got a VA Loan for my house and in order to get approved, the VA did inspections of everything - also, in order to get insurance, the house also had to be inspected. These two salesmen convinced me that my house was in danger of the basement walls collapsing. They used diagrams and told me that my basement was in Stage 4 condition (using cancer terms was also frightening) which meant the walls could collapse at any time. They asked me if my sump-pump had ever turned on, to which I answered and quot;no.and quot; They told me that was an indicator that all the drainage around my house was not working and there was a collapsed drainage pipe. In all the time I have been in the house, during many rainstorms, there has never been any leakage into my basement. These salesmen told me that because the previous owner painted the walls, this was also an indication that the walls had cracks that were in danger of collapsing. I signed on to have the work done at a cost of over $30,000 (including interest). Within the 3 days, I called to cancel. They said they would come visit again and understood I wanted to cancel the entire contract. A different (and good-looking) salesman was with one of the previous salesmen came to call. Although I told them I wanted to cancel, they used high-pressure sales techniques with me, even knowing that I did not want the work done. Again, I was told how my house was in terrible condition and that the E-Z Breathe System would help with all the mold and damage being done to the air in my home (using my Granddaughter as a potential sufferer) and how this deal would never come again. I felt alone and insecure and I believe the salesmen used this against me. They used the words and quot;I am not holding a gun to your head, but I need to recoup the money my company has already spent on this job.and quot; I was told that my original contract had not been accepted due to my credit rating, and they were going to be calling upon me anyway to tell me the contract could not be accepted, but I canceled before they had a chance to get back with me. I felt very guilty and actually ashamed that I caused these people so much trouble. They dropped the price even more (than the first time the salesmen visited) but raised the interest rate so that the final bill would be over $36,000 with interest) but convinced me it was the best deal I could ever hope for. Unfortunately, I agreed. The next day a man came to install the E-Z Breathe System - a very small plastic fan with a plastic exhaust going to the hole in my basement to an outdoor plastic cover with leavers. When they came to do all the work (yes, tearing up my basement and outside the foundation of the house) my son turned them away as per my request and told them I did not want any work done. They have since tried to bill $3,000 for the E-Z Breathe System. I said I cannot afford that and have been contacted and told they would come and take the system out - I have not heard from them since. I am not sure how this will all end ... I feel as though I was taken advantage of from the first moment. In my thoughts, if these were truly professionals who know their jobs, they would have realized that VA approval, insurance approval, and inspection prior to contract would have never have gone through if the basement was in such dire straits. If they were HONEST, they would have left it at that. I feel that I was preyed upon, as a disabled veteran and woman alone, I was a perfect target. They took $288 from me and I do not expect to see that again, but I do not want to pay $3,000 for a system that could be bought at the hardware store for less than $100. I do not know what damage they will do to my credit rating or what may happen in the future. No one has come to take the E-Z Breathe System out - it has NOT ONCE come on to remove excess humidity from the basement. There have been many storms since they have come and gone - not one drop of water is in the basement. I feel at fault ... in that I believed them ... it was counsel from good friends that were ahgast at what was happening and told me to immediately cancel. I only wish they had accepted my original desire to cancel instead of bringing a more intense salesman to frighten me more. Unless one has a certified home inspector at your side during the evaluation this company provides, I would stay away from them. They are not the knowledgable people they claim to be an are charging so much that they must be receiving great rewards from those who agree to have the work done. Good for those who are happy with the work, but I do hope you got a second opinion first.
Description of Work: Installed a worthless type of fan exhaust system in my basement that has never come on and it also included a hole in my basement wall to the outside for this exhaust system.

It was a total sham. The salesman first told me I needed about $30,000 worth of work done which involving digging a trench around the entire exterior foundation and installing water proofing materials. When I told him I could not afford that he dropped the price to around $20,000 and continued to drop the price every time I told him I could not afford it. I also told him I wanted to get other estimates. He finally put a number in his calculator and said and quot;this is my final offer.and quot; It was around $5000. He also told me that part of my basement wall was going to collapse in 6 months. Well, it has now been 9 years, the basement wall has not collapsed and my basement is still pretty dry. After their visit, I called Rogers and Phillips and both said the basement wall was NOT going to collapse and I did not need to do anything. Rogers said to put strips of duct tape on some of the cracks to monitor any movement. Those pieces of tape are still there! Even though this occurred nine years ago, I remember it quite well because I have told this story to many people over the years..

Everdry completed the job in just 1 1/2 days. The job was very messy inside and out but they returned my home to the condition it was when they started. The workers were very professional and polite and the general manager stopped in both days to oversee the work being done. We did not get estimates from other companies, as we probably should have done, considering the cost, but we trusted the BBB and Angie's List reviews and their 30 years of experience. The only negative comments was that they arrived the first day at 7AM instead of the scheduled 8 AM time.
Description of Work: We contracted with Everdry to waterproof our basement which also included a new sump pump and backup and air cleaner. We had obvious moisture and mold in our basement and was concerned about the health issues and future damage to the basement walls if it was not repaired. We also knew we would never be able to sell our home in the condition the basement was in.

In fall 2010, we had Everdry at our house for an estimate to waterproof our basement. We have a very large basement and were aware that there is a lot to be done. Their original estimate was around $15,000, which was far outside our price range, so we declined. A couple of days later, they sent a higher level sales rep to remeasure the basement and come up with a better price, which was about $12,000. They offered financing and had a book of glowing reviews, but it was still more than we can afford. In summer 2012, we were called again and told that they had too much materials and could they come again and give us a better estimate. I made an appointment just to see what the estimate would be this time, however I started to feel unsettled about it after reading other negative reviews on Angie's List. I cancelled the appointment because I didn't want to waste their time because I doubted the price would be much lower than before. They called again to reschedule and when my husband said we weren't interested, they hung up on him. It seemed to be all about the sale and at no point did I feel like anyone actually cared about waterproofing my basement. I was very disappointed in how it was all handled.

Overall the job was done as they said it would be. I told them i wanted the basement in a condition that I could resell the house...and it remains questionable if the basement would cause issues when I go to sell.
Description of Work: They straightened the foundations cinder block walls as much as possible. They dug out the perimeter of the basement floor, installed drain tile and installed 13 steel beams against walls. They installed what they call a new " smart pump" with the plumbing required. They anchored top of steel beams to the floor joist and they did a rather sloppy job there. The drilled holes were not level. One wall should have been pushed in in a certain area and they did not do that. I was not sure why they could not do this. They did finish in the 4.5 days they told me they would.

We only received estimates and this rating is based solely on the salesman and their methods rather than the services and/or the quality of the services provided. First off, our salesman was using high pressure tactics to get us to schedule as soon as possible. Looking back, I don't think he really even knew anything about waterproofing other than what was in the book that was given to him. He started swabbing the basement, showing us a vial that changed colors, and quot;this means your wood is rottingand quot;, he basically said. He took pictures of rust on the bottom of our furnace that we could clearly see, and continued to take pictures of other various and quot;wet thingsand quot;. He printed all the pictures out in the end to show them to us which I thought was redundant, going through his large booklet of the various options they offered. He said we needed the most expensive one. We stared at the large number he estimated as the cost, as he read off from his booklet a letter from an elderly woman thanking Everdry for their work... blagh. and quot;Oh and wait... Oh never mind actually... Err.. do you guys want to save a little money?and quot; and quot;Yes!and quot; we said eagerly. He explains that he can knock a thousand off if we opt to be a low priority job. From what I understood this meant that instead of a day or two, they would spend maybe a week here and there finishing the job. The original estimate went from $19,000 to $18,000 Anyways, he convinced us to sign up for the work. He got us approved for a loan to do it and left happily. After sleeping on it and thinking hard, and then researching the company on the internet, I filled out the cancelation form and dropped it off personally the next day at their office. According to several other sources they used the same high pressure tactics, and they apparently always throw in that and quot;low-priorityand quot; story. The original salesman showed up with his boss the next day and interrogated me. The boss told me that original salesman guy would have to reimburse the cost of signing me up for the low priority job (trying to guilt me). Boss man offered to do the job for $16,000 and quot;since they already did the estimateand quot;. They left after a while, leaving me and my girlfriend and quot;time to thinkand quot;. They walked back in later, immediately remarking that one corner of our house was sinking. We declined several times before another counteroffer for $12,000 was thrown out. They finally left, dumbfounded as to why we rejected. Moral of the story: DONand quot;T MAKE ANY IMMEDIATE DECISIONS WITH EVERDRY! Do your research. Don't take the first offer. They may do good work, but accept the work on your terms. I hate to see people taken advantage of by unscrupulous salesman.

Salesman's pitch was slightly agressive but that's to be expected. I had several companies come out for an estimate and they were all that way. Everdry was a few thousand dollars higher than everyone else but did 5 times the amount of work and had a warranty that blew everyone else out of the water. I am so glad that I went with Everdry! The salesman walked me through all the paperwork and was very detailed in his explanation of everything. The foreman (Eric) walked me through the entire process on day 1 and kept me informed of everything the crew did before they did it. He brought me to the basement and outside several times throughout the project to show me cracks in my foundation and other damage and what they were doing to fix it. The crew was polite and completed the job in 2 days. They cleaned up as much as they could on a rainy, muddy day! The work is exceptional! Money well spent!! The only area of concern I have is the "lifetime warranty" that only stays current if you pay a $50 fee every year. All in all, if there ever is an issue and they have to come out and look at it or fix anything, it would cost at least a few hundred dollars so I guess it isn't that much to pay.

The gentlemen were very prompt each day they came. They made sure that I was aware of what tasks they were doing each day, so that I knew what to expect. They also tried to keep the house as clean as possible, which was difficult given the snow we had at the time. Additionally they were very animal friendly, which makes it much easier for us dog owners. Once the job was complete, they reviewed the instruction manuals with us and also gave us some tips for maintenance. The service is expnesinve, but our basement has had no issues, and it smells much better.

We just had a death in the family and we are scrambling between things. We paid $18000 for them to trench around the house and waterproof it and go in the crawl place and do the rest. We thought that was the end and there was these back up palms and all these other businesses. Two years after they did it they sent us a letter saying that we either maintain the water in the batteries or we would have to pay a fee. We are very unhappy about that. I am extremely unhappy at the money they charged and what they did and then they come back 2 years later and say they want a maintenance fee.

Our basement has never fully flooded, we only had seepage issues and maybe 1-2 inches of water along one wall during the wet season. When Tom came out, he was very professional and personable. He pointed out where the wall was starting to shift inward slightly, as well as mold on the rafters of the basement. (The swab was taken the furthest point away from the wall). He then explained various options to correct the issue. He was not the pushiest salesman I have encountered, which was nice. As we discussed the options, I was concerned about the cost. He gave us a couple of discounts for paying cash and for being on a ‘short call’ list. (Short call is where they have some smaller jobs lined up to fit in between some larger jobs, and since our basement was not so large, we qualified.) When the crew came out to perform the work, they were wonderful. They were professional, personable and kept me in the loop at all times. Every morning the foreman would talk to me about what they would be doing that day, and when they left for the day, he showed me and explained to me what they had done. On the final day, they cleaned up after themselves, sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down the door, and putting straw down in the lawn where they had placed the drainage pipe. (I provided the straw). The crew was also wonderful about my dogs. I am always ecstatic when I find companies that are dog friendly. It makes it so much easier for me to allow my dogs to have the run of the house, rather than having to put them outside or in their crates when work is being done.(especially when the work takes all day for 3 days)
Description of Work: Jack hammered and installed drainage pipes around the inner perimeter of the basement, installed sump pump wiht battery back up, installed air mover/ dehumidifier, installed drainage pipe on exterior of the house, and tied it into exisitng drainage to the street.

When the sales representatives came out to give us estimates they were very high pressure trying to get us to sign a contract for $21,000 of work immediately without giving us time to think about it. They refused to come out and do the estimate unless both my wife and I were present. I found out why when the tried to get us to sign the contract on their very first visit. After refusing to commit to the work on the first visit they did follow up with in a timely manner. After discussing various aspects of the job my wife and I felt some of the steps outlined for our particular job were not necessary. After discussing the items we felt were unnecessary and how that would reduce the pricing by telephone we were told us that Everdry could work with us in order to be in the price range we were comfortable with since they had materials purchased and they wanted to keep their crews busy. The salesman insisted on coming out to discuss the pricing and would not give us numbers over the phone. Once again they insisted that my wife and I both be present in order for them to come out and show us the revised figures. When they did come out, their idea of working out a deal was to just to reduce the price by eliminating items that we did want included in the work. It was also a high pressure sales pitch in which they told us that the price quoted was only temporary and that we should act now in order to get this great pricing. Once again we sent them away to think about the large investment were considering. After a few more phone calls and a third appointment with a salesman, we agreed on a price and decided to have the work performed. Everdry called us a couple weeks later to schedule the work. They showed up on schedule and the crew that did the work was punctual every day and cleaned up well inside and out. The problem my wife and have with the job in general is that it was not performed as stated by the salesman. In the sales presentation we were told how Everdry was the only company to use a jackhammer with a vacuum system that was attached to the jackhammer itself which would greatly reduce the amount of dust released into our home during concrete removal. This was total BS. When the work began and I asked about the vacuum system I was told that the jackhammer unit with the vacuum was on another truck and they would have it on the job later. The concrete removal was completed with a standard jackhammer, NO VACUUM, lots of dust throughout the house. The next things I noticed that were not as stated in the sales presentation were the depth and back fill of the exterior drainage system. In the sales we were told that the exterior drain tile would be buried 24" to 36" inches below grade and that it would be back filled with pea gravel and just a small amount of dirt over the top. When I went out to see how the job was progressing outside I saw that the ditch dug around the foundation was only about 12" deep, if that, at the high point. I pointed this out to the foreman and he did have the crew dig it a bit deeper but it was not nearly 24" deep at the high point. After installing the exterior drainage system the crew did put a little bit of gravel over the drain tile and then they finished back filling with more dirt than gravel. Another lie we were told during the sales presentation was that Everdry used a special patented "J" channel on the exterior under the drain tile in order to funnel the water into the tile. During the sales presentation I specifically asked if the patented "J" channel was a thin plastic like visquin or if it was something more rigid. I was told that it was not thin plastic like visquin and that they use a more rigid plastic and I was lead to believe that it was something other than the thin plastic or visquin I could buy at any home improvement store. Once again, total BS. By looking at the plastic Everdry used to form this patented "J" channel I would guess that it was something like 6 mil. plastic sheeting. We also ran into a couple of other things that we feel were done incorrectly. The first issue we ran into was during the interior installation. When the crew got to the area where the water heater was located, close to the wall, they just pulled out the bricks under one side of the water heater without supporting it any other way. The weight of the water heater which was full, was resting on bricks under one side and pulling on our plumbing on the other side. Due to the removal of the bricks on the other side it was putting so much pressure on the copper water lines coming out of the top that the water lines were actually pulled from their original clamping point in the direction that the water heater was leaning about an inch. After the crew left and I saw the water heater leaning and how the lines had actually been moved I was concerned about the pressure being put on the lines. When I tried to straighten the water heater so my wife could slide a brick under the middle of it, one of the water lines cracked and began to spray water out. I shut the water off and put tape and a hose clamp around the cracked water line which stop the leak. The next day I told the foreman what had happened and he called the office. They did send someone out to repair the line. When the gentleman came to repair the line he asked me if I had a piece of bread and informed me that it was stuffed in the pipe in order to keep the line dry during the repair and that it would dissolve once the water was turned on. I gave him a piece of bread and he completed the repair. The next time I used the water the spray pattern was very erratic and then almost stopped completely. I tried another faucet, same thing. I pulled the screen off of the kitchen faucet and it was filled with particles from the whole grain bread that was stuffed in the water line. I had to go around the house and clean out every faucet and shower head to remove the bread particles, several more than one time. Maybe I should have left the water heater alone and let the work crew handle it but I don't like the thought of hundreds of pounds of water pulling on the water lines of my home and I don't think this problem should have occurred in the first place. They could have supported the center of the water heater somehow and still had room to work along the wall. The other issue I noticed after the work was completed was that when the exterior drainage tiles and the tiles for the downspout drains were installed, all of the plumbing from two sides of the house was tied into one 3" pipe. I am not a plumber but from my experience I would think that the the water flow from two 3" perforated drain tiles and two 3" downspout tiles which handle four downspouts would overwhelm a single 3" pipe during a heavy rain. All in all we feel the sales practices of Everdry are very deceptive and very high pressure. The work performed was not done according to what we were told during the sales presentations. We must admit that we have not had water in our basement since the work was performed so we are happy about that. We think it is still a bit humid even with Everdry's patented systems and their Easybreath system. If we had to have this work performed again we would NOT use Everdry of Columbus.
Description of Work: We had basement waterproofing done in the basement and drainage installed around the exterior of the home.

I called to get help on a specific water/leak problem in my basement. I should have been suspicious form the start, as they asked if both husband and wife would be home when the inspector arrived. I said probably, adn when he came, he was ready to give a pitch to fix the whole basment, rather than just address my problem. I think they only deal with fixing/waterproofing an enitre basement with some type of system, and if so, they should say so in the first place.
