If you want a thorough inspection, call these guys. If you then want to have to argue with a very, very pushy salesman, call these guys. I signed up for Angie's List after talking with Travis, and realized that my experience pretty much matches many other reviews over the last year. I won't be doing business with them. Update: I've since had two other companies look at my basement, and tell me the cracks and water deposit spots are completely fine, and that a bigger dehumidifier is all I need to solve the humidity issues. Also, through discussions with them, and my own online research, the "mold test" done by Everdry is NOT an actual mold test. He swabbed a beam, dropped the swab into a solution that turned purple. The Everdry salesman then proceeded to tell me that I'm now required to report this "positive" test when/if I sell the house. A REAL mold test would be much more involved than that. This company is flat-out dishonest.
Description of Work: I had been having issues with high humidity in my basement, and when offered a free basement inspection I agreed. Bill came out and did a very thorough inspection, and pointed out several major cracks, pointed out high moisture readings on the block walls and the floors, and swabbed for mold that came up positive (still wondering about this one). After a discussion of what my problems were, the sales pitch began. If you want a service provider that goes for a shady used car salesman hard sale, call these guys (I feel like this is an insult to car salesmen, honestly). He wanted to put in an exterior drainage system, dig out the interior of my floor (after pointing out my existing interior drainage pipes), drop my sump two feet, put in two new pumps with battery backups, and install a $1500 air purification/dehumidifier. Within 5 minutes of giving me a $15000 estimate for a 40x25 basement he had pulled out the calculator to calculate my monthly payment and was pushing to ask how much I wanted to put down. He seemed quite unhappy when I told him I didn't want him to tell me a payment, he needed to tell me what their loan percentage rate was, and I got a vague answer, somewhere between 8 and 12% (which is flat-out ridiculous). I also questioned why a $1500 dehumidifier would be necessary after he sealed the cracks, put in exterior and interior drainage systems, and dropped my sump pit, and he seemed downright offended by that, and said that's the component of the quote that people generally want the most. I had no intention of putting money down that day, and began asking how long that quote would be valid. His response was a vague "well, the prices are always going to go up" and would not put a solid date on the quote, and eventually said that he could probably honor it within the next 30 days. At one point, when I said I'd let him know if I had any more questions, he responded with "I want to make sure your questions are answered today, because I'm not coming back". He also explained thoroughly their lifetime warranty, which I'd have to pay $75 a year to maintain. After saying he wouldn't be coming back, Travis at EverDry called me two days later to tell me that Bill had talked about my basement with the OWNER of the company, that the owner had some more ideas to save me money, and asked to schedule an appointment for a supervisor to come back, look at the basement, and give me a second estimate to compare to any other estimates I get. So, they go for the hard sell for an over-priced, probably un-necessary repair strategy (I'm still working on getting more estimates), and once they realize you're not an idiot and you're going to get more estimates, their answer changes. Shady, shady, shady.
