Dematteo's Patios

I had posted a negative review in March because because I never heard back about an estimate in 2014. Michele Dematteo responded to my review and I called to see if they would do the repairs. Mechelle was very quick to look at the job and had an estimate to me within a few days. They were able to do the job sooner that expected and had it done within a day. The steps are now set in concrete and solid. The edges of the patio have been leveled and it looks great. I never had an issue with the quality of work, we've been very happy with the patio. My only issue was them not getting back to me with an estimate in 2014. That doesn't seem to be a problem now that Mechelle handles that part of the business.

The steps on our paver patio were pulling away from the patio and the pavers were sinking. I called Tim because his company installed the patio and we were happy with the results. Tim explained that they were now installing steps differently than they did then. He told me that he would give us a discount because they had installed the patio. I never asked for or expected a discount because it had been nine years. Tim said he would get back to me with an estimate either that evening or the next day, I never heard from him. I left numerous messages, and even asked that he call me even if he wasn't interested in doing the job so that I could call someone else. None of the calls were returned. I didn't write this review back in 2014 because I thought he may have gone out of business. I would not recommend this company for a couple of reasons. First for not standing behind their work, he basically admitted that the steps were not done correctly. Second for the lack of customer service.

They did a great time. They helped us select colors and stones. Delivered a clear estimate. Very patient in addressing all our questions. Arrived when expected and worked long days. The patio and fire pit are perfect. Answered questions after the sale. Definitely recommend them

They came out to give us an estimate for work on our patio. The guy said he would call back the next day with our estimate.He never called back. My husband left several messages, but they would not call back. He sent an email to the email address listed on their website and it came back as undeliverable.

Pretty good! They were friendly, clean, efficient and worked well with us to address all their concerns. They were accommodating, we had decided we wanted to change things and they accommodated us. They cleaned up after themselves everyday which was very good.

After receiving quotes and designs from several different vendors, we decided to move forward with Dematteo's patios. They were not the least expensive quote that we received but did by far the best job of explaining how they constructed a patio, the difference between what they do and the majority of other patio companies and why they may not be the cheapest but would build a patio to last. The company was able to begin the job when I wanted, however, the materials that I wanted to use were not released in a timely manner. Tim did a good job of keeping us informed of Unilock's delays and was willing to work with us from a timing perspective. Ultimately, we decided to change the materials due to continued delays of a new product from Unilock, and Tim worked with us to get us moving quickly. After Tim and his crew began the excavation, I decided to change the patio a bit and increase the size. This request was accommodated without hassle. Tim's approach to customer service is one where the customer needs to be pleased (within reason of course) and he was willing to tweak or make changes as requested without much delay or expense. Due to weather changes and design/material changes (at my request) the job took longer than originally quoted (two weeks) but I feel that was more me than them. Another item I must comment on is that Tim and his crew were very careful about trying not to damage our yard as best as possible during the process. In those areas where there was damage (Because of bobcat traffic), he and his crew repaired it to my satisfaction. Additionally, they were very respectful about not leaving trash around and cleaning up after themselves at the end of each day. Overall, I would definitely recommend hiring Dematteo's Patios. This is the second time that I have used them. ( The last patio was 12 years ago at a different house). I am extremely particular and expect a good product and service for what I am paying. Due to the fact that I have used them twice should speak volumes as to the professionalism and quality of craftsmanship.

The work was completed very professionally and Tim went to great lengths to ensure our satisfaction. The only negative was when I had some cracking in the sand about a month later. He said he would come out and have a look, but never did. Other than that we have been enjoying our new addition.

Mr. DeMatteo originally put in a stone patio and stair for us about 4 years ago. It was just this spring that we noticed that the stone stairs had sunk in a bit on the back row of stone. Upon removing some of the loose stones we noticed that under a thin layer of sand there was dirt (Mr. Dematteo later called it gravel but it was really dirt with small stones in it). The "gravel" is right up next to the wood and the wood is badly rotted out! I called Mr. D and he said he always waterproofs behind something like that but when he came out to have a look he admitted that he made a mistake and didn't this time (guess he forgot). He looked at it for awhile to determine how to fix it and then said he would call me the next Tuesday to set something up. He did say he had told much of his equipment and was now working with someone else. When I did not hear from him the next week I called him and always got a busy signal. I tried his fax and it was disconnected. I have tried for over 6 weeks to call his number and it is always busy! I sent him a certified letter and he refused to pick it up at the post office and it has been returned to me. I have gotten estimates from two other companies on fixing it and the lowest bid is 850.00 plus tax! I feel that Mr. Dematteo should fix my steps because it was his mistake that caused the damage to my house. If he cannot fix it then he should pay for me to have someone else do it. Mistakes do happen but it is dispicable that he does not stand behind his work! I hate to take him to small claims court (this is not "small claims" to me, but I may have to! I would not recommend that ANYONE have work done by this person.

They removed a wooden deck and replaced it with a paver patio with paver steps. They did the work on schedule. The workers arrived early in the morning and stayed till dark. They were there every day until the work was done.

Construction starting on a Friday afternoon and was completed by the following Friday. The workers cleaned up the work area and front yard nightly which was very nice because I was very concerned that I would have a construction mess until the project was done. The Dematteo's workers were nice and very polite. I made a couple of surprised stops during the work day to make sure things were going fine. Worker were there and only stopped long enough to answer any questions that I had. When the project was completed the area around the patio was cleaned up.

Tim is a very friendly and easy to work with gentleman. The work was done on schedule, quickly, and cleanly. They cleaned up after themselves and the work was better than we even expected!! We will come back later and finish the landscaping and we will use Tim again. He was very thorough and followed up with us afterwards to make sure we were satisfied.

We met with Tim and discussed ideas regarding a paver patio. He had a few ideas and was generally helpful. The next step was to be a follow-up call/appointment to review high-level plans and estimates. We never received a call back.

Contacted Tim to give us an estimate to install a paver patio and sidewalk. Tim showed up as scheduled for the appointment, but never returned an estimate for the work. I followed up with Tim about 3-4 weeks later and asked about the estimate. I read great things about Tim and was looking forward to working with him. Tim said he was just looking at his notes and would get the estimate to me soon. It's now been another eight weeks and never heard back from Tim. Very POOR customer service.

Tim DeMatteo and Andy Argo were very professional. I started the project and then decided that the cost of renting a compactor for several days would cover a big chuck of the labor related to patio installation. Tim fit my two-day project into a Friday and Saturday - between much bigger projects. About 10-days passed between estimate and project completion. Andy provided the estimate to me via email, which was very helpful because I was traveling for and still able to respond to specific items on estimate via my blackberry. Tim's crew consisted of three men. They left the site very clean and organized after the first day. The crew also left the site very clean after completing the project.

Tim came out and was very nice, prompt, and professional. His price was similar to other bids we received; however he based the quote on the price for the lower end of paver stones pricing. A more likely range would have been the middle until the final stone was determined. Given this, the actual job may likely have come in much higher. His quote sheet only had the square feet and price per square foot and price for steps. No materials were listed or itemized. We didn't really feel we were clear on what we were getting. We did appreciate his quote stating his 3 year warranty on workmanship. I marked Yes for hiring him in the future because we would certainly consider him and would ask for more detailed information. I'm sure he would have provided it.

Had scheduled an estimate for 5:30pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2006. Did not show, did not call.

THE WORK WAS PROFESSIONAL. TIM WAS THE COMPANY THAT LISTENED AND THEN PRESENTED A SKETCH. HE HAD GREAT IDEAS AND THE PATIO IS BEYOND OUR EXPECTATIONS. THE PRICE WAS MORE THAN FAIR FOR THE QUALITY OF WORK. HE IS ON TIME AND A GREAT PERSON TO PARTNER WITH ON LANDSCAPING AND DECK/PATIO DESIGN. WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.

TIM AND HIS CREW WERE FANTASTIC. THEY WORKED VERY FAST AND DID EVERYTHING ON TIME. WE COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH OUR WORK. ALL OF OUR NEIGHBORS HAVE STOPPED BY TO COMMENT ON THE QUALITY OF THE CRAFTSMANSHIP.

TIM REALLY LISTENED TO WHAT WE WANTED AND GAVE GOOD SUGGESTIONS. HIS IDEA TO BOX IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CHIMNEY WITH THE WALL STONE LOOKS GREAT. THEY GOT THE JOB DONE QUICKLY, AND LEFT IT VERY CLEAN WHEN THEY WERE DONE.

WE HAD TO WAIT (BUSY TIME OF YEAR) FOR THE SERVICE, BUT THE WORK WAS DONE WHEN PROMISED. TIM (THE OWNER) MET ME AT THE SUPPLIER TO DISCUSS THE PRODUCTS USED (SO WE COULD DECIDE ON THE MATERIAL AFTER SEEING THEM IN A FINISHED LANDSCAPE). TIM WAS EASY TO WORK WITH, AND HE AND HIS CREW WERE VERY POLITE, AND VERY HARD WORKERS. THEY WERE VERY CONSCIOUS OF DOING THINGS CORRECTLY. I INTERVIEWED OTHER CONTRACTORS, AND TIM'S PRICE WAS COMPARABLE TO OTHERS, WHICH WAS VERY REASONABLE. I CHOSE TIM BECAUSE HE WAS EASY TO WORK WITH, AND UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WANTED. THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY PLEASANT, AND WE LOVE OUR NEW STAIRS AND PATIO. I CERTAINLY RECOMMEND DEMATTEO'S PATIOS.

THEY DID COME OUT ON TIME, HOWEVER DO NOT DO CONCRETE WORK.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY. STAFF WAS PROFESSIONAL, WORKED VERY EFFICIENTLY AND COMPLETED THE JOB IN JUST OVER A WEEK. PATIO LOOKS FANTASTIC. WE COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED WITH THE WORK. WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

HE CAME WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. HE HAS ANSWERED HIS PHONE OR RETURNED MY CALLS PROMPTLY.

TIM AND HIS CREW INSTALLED A BEAUTIFUL PAVER PATIO AND RAISED BEDS. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, PERFORMED THE WORK IN A TIMELY MANNER, AND LEFT OUR YARD CLEAN WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK. FOR THE PRICE AND THE QUALITY OF WORK, THEY CANNOT BE BEAT.
