They did a very good job on the basement. I had one issue that they resolved. There were paint spots all over the floor after they painted the walls. It seemed to be one guy who might have thought that I was going to carpet the floors after and that would cover up the mess. I tried to get the paint up myself, but it was just too much. I ran into some trouble with management becuase they didn't want to send someone out to get the paint up. They did evenallysend someone out and he sanded the concrete until all of the paint was removed. He did a good job and even took pictures back to show them how much paint had been spilled. Overall, I am happy with the work when it was completed.
Description of Work: I hired them to finish my basement remodel They seperated the room with walls using their waterproof system.

After they got here, it was fine. There seemed to be some troubles regarding the time they were supposed to arrive. I was told that unless they called back, they would arrive at a specific time. The guy arrived almost two hours after I expected him. I don't blame him as he was very professional when he arrive. It seems they have more than one location they send technicians out from. I sent a message on their facebook page, but they didn't respond to me. I finally called them. Once they were there, they were very professional, got the work done, and I was pleased with the work.
Description of Work: I hired them to put up strapping on a wall where the wall was bowing.

Cracks developed in the basement walls. Water seepage occurred at the middle and/or bottom of the cracks. The Basement Guys not only fixed the symptoms (leaking walls), they also determined the root case of the fault. The cracks had developed because of settling of the foundation and placement of the deck onto the back of my house. Since re-doing either of those was not a viable financial option to me, they recommended repair using Carbon Fiber Roll and a chemical bonding agent. According to the manufacturer, in addition to waterproofing any leaks, this type of repair increases the load bearing capacity of that repaired area to a tensile strength higher than that of the existing wall. The repair was actually done very quickly and professionally. After the job was completed, there was no evidence that a repairman had even been there (well except for the repairs that had been done to the walls). We've had some pretty heavy rain on a couple occasions this fall, and the areas that had leaked in the past (from even a small amount of rain) are now completely leak free!
Description of Work: Repaired leaking cracks in the basement walls.

My two crawl spaces, accessed through the basement, were sealed last April by an insulation company. (Note: the house was insulated too tight) The crawl space blocks have been wet over the years but there was no standing water in the crawl spaces. Possible mold/mildew problems. The sealing of the crawl spaces was done because the rooms above them are always cold in the winter. After the sealing was done I smelled a foul odor coming from the basement up into the house (like mold/mildew smell). It continued to get worse over the summer and since the weather has gotten colder and the furnace is on, my windows have a lot of moisture and water on them on the inside (which they never had before). The humidity in the house has been running at 57%. I've found that this humidity is coming from the sealed up crawls even though I ran a dehumidifier daily. I had two estimates. The salesman from The Basement Guys was very thorough and spent a lot of time listening to my story and looking around for his own assessment. He was very professional and detailed on his analysis of my situation, the other salesman - not so much. Also, this company's materials were better quality than the other company. After this meeting, I researched a number of sites online, talked with a number of people, and came to the conclusion along with this company that my crawls need to be encapsulated. The workers came and installed their materials in place, cleaned up their mess, and the crawls look great. Immediately the smell was gone. I am still struggling with lowering the humidity level in the house by running the dehumidifier on the main floor. My thought is to remove the existing humidity and lower it to a decent level and then I shouldn't have a problem as long as the crawls are not allowing any more humidity to escape into the house environment. So far, I am pleased with the result of the encapsulation!

Overall, we were very pleased with the workers and the completed job.
Description of Work: The Basement Guys re-enforced our basement walls where necessary to prevent further damage to the foundation. They advised us when they would be arriving and were very punctual when doing both the job and the estimate. Our cost did not exceed the estimate. The workers were fast and did not disturb the family at all.

The salesman was just that a salesman. He promised things that would be done, that were not explained to the workers so they did not get done. I had to talk to supervisors who then had to set up another appointment to reconcile the situation. The workers however were very polite curtious, and explained in detail everything they were going to do. And even did some things that were extra, like silicon the edges of some windows that had gaps in them. I have no problem with the workers or the work that was done, I just expected that what the salesman said would be done would have been completed the first time.

It was really good. The first guy that came to provide the quote was a little pushy. After I let him know who I was and that I was in charge, it got a little better. I got a really good discount. He was able to come within a week. They were very prompt. The guys who did the work were there when they said they would be. They were very fast.

There were some issues when they put up the wall coverings and it wasn't done very neatly. They came back out and fixed it promptly and made sure it was done right. They were really good on price. They were really flexible about understanding our needs and what we wanted. Other companies would only do the full basement but they would just do part of it. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Description of Work: I called the Basement Guy's who were refrred to me by my insurance company. My basment had flooded for the first time. They sent out a slaeman who told me I needed the basement water proofed and a sump pum installed. Everything was fine with the work done. I later had a sewer issue in the basement, so I called a plumber. The plumber advised me that I did not need the basement water proofed I only needed a sump pump. I wanted a second opinion so I called a second plumber who gave me the same information. I contacted the Attorney General who advised me to contact an attorney, so I did. They are unwilling to refund any money for the $9,000 waterproofing job that I did not need. I have no complaints about the un-needed work that was done. I believe they took advantage of a single woman that knew no better. I think this info. needs to told. Do not hire these people unless you are sure you need the service they are selling.

Response from The Basement Guys
Here are the actually notes from the conversation when the customer called to make and appt with The Basement Guys. (She has no plans bt 10 and noon tomorrow. The house was built in the 70s and she has owned for 10 yrs. The walls are block and painted and the floors are bare and have cracks in the corner areas where water seeps through. She has an inch right now. She said her basement flooded again last night and she needs this fixed asap. Her house is up for sale.) When then went to her home and gave her a quote to fix the problem which we did. The Basement no longer floods nor is there any water coming in anywhere. Sump pumps do not stop a water problems. I Sump pump is a area where water is directed to be removed. If you do not direct water to the sump pump it will do nothing by itself. So we put all new drains and directed all the water to the sump pump and that is why the basement is dry. That was the right fix that was needed. If we put a sump pump in then she would have said that we don't know what we are doing when her basement flooded again and still would have ask for her money back. We contacted one of the plumbers in questions and they did not report the same response that was mention here, in addition he is not a nationally certified waterproofer with no training and could not make any accurate statements regarding this problem even if he said anything. The customer used very foul language to our staff and wanted her money back even thou her basement problems are now completely solved, She told our company she would call anyone and everyone she could to get her money back in a threatening way. We are a honest company that does the work that we say we are going to do and we fixed her basement forever.

I wouldlike to thank Justin and Larry. Justin came out and explained everthing in detail to me. Gave me more for the money than the other companies quoted. Larry was very prompt and reliable. Kept communication going throughout whole project. On the second day of work we had a heavy storm that came into the tri-state and I was able to see the water flowing out. Amazing. They were on time and cleaned up afterwards. We are very pleased with the job.

Great customer service, warranty satisfaction, and reliable work. Great value for quality.
Description of Work: Luke was one of 6 bids we acquired while remodeling my father in laws home. The home had a basement and sub basement and an inground pool near the back of the home. The two lower levels were very damp and the sub basement even flooded several times prior to service. Luke was not the cheapest, he was very reasonable and cheaper than 3 of the other 5. Luke was always available to me or returned calls promptly. They had to dig trenches in the basement floors to add drainage, installed 3 sump pumps, and dug trenches outside the house to create proper drainage near the foundation. All of the work was done timely, on budget, and with follow ups for weeks after the repairs were made (very rainy season) to ensure we were not having issues. I have reccomended "The Basement Guys" regularly and all of my friends have been very satisfied with their work. As a side note- six months later my fahter in laws girlfriend unplugged one of the sump pumps in the sub basement and burnt the 2nd one up. Luke came out an dhandled the clean up as well as replaced the pump FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE.

When I ask him for an estimate, he refused to give me one(quote) because he wanted me to take the paneling off the wall. Now, I have had other estimates from your list and no one ask me to take my paneling off especially when they can clearly see some damage at the bottom. So, I ask him to just give me a quote without using those windows. He claim he could not do that, that was when my daughter asked him about remodeling the basement. Then he said well that could be from 10-50K. They could do that over the phone. I'm thinking why did they come to our home. Did they just look at us and assume we could not afford? That was when I ask about their waterproofing system and did he have literature. He said no but if I like he would go back to the car and get a business card, my daughter let him in without seeing his card. He asked me if I wanted him to come back and give me an estimate, after I taken all the paneling down.. These people lack professionalism. Yes, I am trying to save money that one reason why I joined list.
Description of Work: He was an hour late, when they came my daughter open the door. I did not realize that they did not even give her a business card. The Sales person did not tell me anything about his company, he just started writing on the back of the papers and asking me the questions that he would be see when he would look at the problem. When finally when down into the already finished basement. He just used his cell phone to take picture at the top of the wall. I told him don't you want to look behind the washer and dryer. Then he said I do need all of them. That was why I could not understand this next part.

Response from The Basement Guys
we are truly sorry that you are upset with your attempt to get an estimate. This is the notes in our system in regards to your appointment." Justin called in with his results this morning. The customer told Justin she thinks the water is seeping from her windows. Justin told her the only way we can determine where the water is really coming from we need for her to have someone remove the paneling from around the window. then we can come back out and see the what the problem really is." The Basement Guys can not give you an accurate quote unless they know for sure what needs to be done. For example does your house need waterproofing or does it just have one crack that need fixed or just one window that needs fixed. Sure we can give you a quote for thousands of dollars but what if you didn't need that. Then you would have posted that we tried to sell you something you didn't need. Justin did the right and ethical thing by not trying to sell you something you may not of needed. We could not give you a Basement Finishing quote at that time because the water issue need fixed first an that is why he just ball parked a quote. It is unfortunate that you implied that we think you didn't have the money or that we are unprofessional due to not giving you a quote. I can assure you that those statement are not true. We do thousands of jobs and we do know its hard to please everyone 100% of the time but we attempt to always do the right thing and unlike yourself others customer would have been very pleased that we were thorough in finding the correct solution so that they did not have to invest a lot of money that they may have not needed to do. Again we apologize for your opinion because as a customer that is what matters to us the most. Sincerely, Dan Reed CEO

From the first time I spoke with them they were very accomodating. The customer service was wonderful. I am a woman and didn't know much about my basement as my husband travels alot and they couldn't have been nicer. They explained step by step what they would have to do and how much it would cost me. I felt that I fully understood what they would be doing. At times when I did have questions about some things I didnt understand I called them and they always got back to me promptly. As I said my husband travels alot so he did meet them on the first visit and he felt very comfortable with the credibility of their work and was pleased that I felt confident and comfortable. When the work was to be completed they showed up on time, did the work and cleaned everything up like they had never been there. When we received the bill, it was for the exact amount they had estimated and not a penny more. I would work with them again, highly reccomend them! You guys are awesome!
