Everything went as planned and as expected. Randy and his crew did a excellent job on our room and it came out better then we could have expected. Everyone on Randy's team was very professional and friendly. I would have no problem using him and his team again. Randy and his team gave us allot of options on how to get what we wanted done. The Heating and air conditioner system added fits in the room cleanly and works very well. Randy worked within our budget and came in on budget and on plan. It was very nice to work with a contractor that did what they said and had a very accurate estimate that was accurate with no hidden expenses at the end. Overall working with Randy and his team was a pleasure and we are extremely happy with the way the work was done and the final product. Thank you Randy.

They did a great job. They are so much more reasonably priced then anyone out there. We had no problems at all.

Randy quickly responded to our call for a quote, provided his professional opinion and a reasonable price. He and his team were able to start our project quickly and finish within a week of their original estimate. They did an amazing job and paid attention to every single detail, from framing to wiring to painting and woodwork. We have a beautiful space that we, and more importantly our two-year-old son, loves now and we couldn't be happier with the work Randy and his team did. I highly recommend them and will us them again for any work we will need in the future!

He gave me a very high estimate to build one 6 foot wall to create a 3 ft by 6 ft closet in my laundry room. I asked him to come back with an alternative estimate that wasn't so expensive. I never heard back from Randy. So he has my money and I haven't received any carpentry services.

I had first attempted to contact RVW in late February because of his Angie's List ratings. After two phone attempts (a week apart) with no reply to voice mail messages, I finally reached him on my third and final attempt. He told me he was very busy, and would be for six weeks. I told him we had several projects, and that we would want the work to begin in mid to late May (approximately 8 weeks from the date of our conversation). He said that would work for him, and we scheduled an appointment for him to determine an estimate. I sent an e-mail to the address listed on his website, listing my address, directions to my home, and contact information/numbers. The schedule time came and went, with no RVW and no explanation call. The next day, I left a voice mail message, and when RVW returned my call and apologized f for the missed appointment, he told me the contact information on his website (including his e-mail address) was incorrect, so he had never gotten my e-mail. We discussed the scope of the work required, I agreed to re-send the original e-mail, and we set another appointment. The second appointment was last week, but history repeated itself...no RVW and (to this moment) no explanation call. I called and left a voice mail message that I would be writing this review, but received no response fro RVW (as of the writing of this review. Randy Van Winsen may be the greatest carpenter/woodworker in the world, but if hired, I would question his responsiveness, his professionalism, and his dependability.

He did a nice job. He did quality work and he's very easy to talk to. He listens to the customer; what their needs are. He makes reasonable recommendations and fabricating when things don't work perfectly; he was able to do a lot of work himself and make it look great. The staffs are very good. He was more interested in getting the job done. Their price is very good. He's very professional. I would use them again. He is highly in demand. He was going to come back for some minor issues.

I was very pleased with their pricing and the finished product was nice. I used them a couple of years ago. We did several projects with them. Their work is very good. The only downside was how long it took them to do the projects. They were similar to other contractors.

Job went great. I have used Randy on two basement finishes (separate houses) and a kitchen remodel. He always provides on time and professional service.

Had the owner come out to do an estimate for built in shelves and office.... After 3 weeks and 3 phone calls ( approximately one a week) we NEVER received an estimate even after we had been told multiple times that " when we get a chance we will email it to you". After realizing the company has a lack of accountability, we will not be going with them for fear of not ever getting the job completed. Also, when you call this number you simply get someone saying " hello" rather than stating the company, so expect that response when you call.

Randy is quite flexible with hours.

Ordered in January- 10 days went by without response. He had death in family so understandable. Called multiple times to get Mr Van Winsen to come and look at the job. For instance- he told me that he would call me back the following Monday when he had a better idea of his schedule and come to see the job that week. When he did not call back that Monday, nor the next Monday I called him. Finally 4 weeks later he came to see the job. After seeing the job the plan was for me to draft a list of fixtures that I wanted. He said that he would call back in 10 days so we could discuss the list and price out the job. Again no call, so 14 days later I called him. He told me to email him the list and that he would call me back that same evening to discuss my items and the job. I emailed the list immediately, over two weeks ago- no call. Mr Van Winsen has always been very pleasant, I just think that he has a lot on his agenda right now. I did call to tell him that I would be canceling the job.

I was very happy with the quality and attention to detail. There were some challenges getting the boards fitted well and he had good solutions for everything. The baseboards were cut perfectly and he even put caps on the ends(without having to ask). He also caulked them so the job was 100% complete. Getting the door just right in the existing frame took a bit of work and he again knew what to do to resolve the problems. It works great and I am very happy with his work. I would use him again for any wood work.

He has done a great job, he is coming back later today.

They were busy because of the deal, but I was flexible with scheduling. There were no additional costs beyond the price of the deal. Everything turned out well.

Randy was incredibly nice and willing to do whatever I asked. I purchsed a "big deal" and he was willing to customize it for my purposes. He was usually a little later than he said he would be, but usually called to let me know. Sometimes he (or another worker) would show up at times unexpected, but never on a weekend without first acknowledging. The work is solid, I'm very pleased with the outcome however it took a long time. I didn't press to get it done faster, but the timeline was significantly longer than originally stated. Otherwise, everything is up to par and I am happy

I called Randy about this and he said he would get it fixed but I never heard from him again. I finally pulled the frame out and reset it myself. Although Randy is an extremely nice guy I will not use his services again. I was really disappointed because I was looking for someone to do my kitchen remodel the next year and hoped Van Winson would do a good job. Poor workmanship and not good value.

Randy did a great job. He showed up on time, stayed until past dinner, and worked the whole time. The items i had him do were in an 80 year old house so challenges arose from walls that were not square, etc. Randy was able to figure out a solution each time and i am very happy with the work. it looks great.

Trimmed out a pocket door and put down base board. He did a fine job, looks great. Would like to get a price on a built in for my basement.

Randy installed new baseboards and crown molding in my living room. I had more choices of trim than I would have had at the local hardware stores, but with less expense. Quality service, affordable price.

I called him to set up a time for him to review the work. He kept talking about how many jobs he had because of the special. He came over, reviewed the job and said no problem. He was supposed to call me to schedule the work. 2 weeks later I finally called him and scheduled. The job was to cover an opening in the ceiling, replace an interior door and hang some blinds. He arrived 20 minutes late. He talked on the phone quite a bit while here. In the 4 hours he spent 3 hanging the door (and talking), another covering the opening in the ceiling. I didn't get my money's worth.

It turned out very well! It was very nice! He has not done the work yet because right now he has some other projects that's going on, but he did come out. He followed what we wanted him to do, and he told us what's in the guidelines. We also contracted him to do some other things for us. He was very polite and very courteous. He was on time. We did like what he offered. He made suggestions to some things that we didn't think of. We were very, very pleased with the work that he hasn't done yet, but he's going to do. They were very good when it comes to responsiveness. They were quick on the spot. I think, he was having some trouble accepting his portion of Angie's list. When I called him, he was very responsive. He immediately made an appointment to come out to set up the estimate. I was very pleased. He was on time, and actually a little early. He's very professional, very polite and very kind. we have contracted him to do some other things once he gave us our four hours. We were very, very pleased with him.

It has gone so far, so good. We are going to use him, but we have not started the project yet. The estimated price is about $30,000. He has been really good about staying in contact and giving us updates; I am happy with that. It has been a very positive experience. Randy is a really good guy who is easy to deal with, straightforward and honest. He does not nickel and dime. If it is not a big deal he will take care of it, but if it is he is a straight shooter and tells me what it is going to be and what he is going to do. He has good suggestions on what he thinks will work and what won't. He is easy to talk to and does not try to ram things down my throat. He listens and gives good advice and opinions, but if there is a direction I feel strongly about, he will do that too.

The old front door threshold had to totally be rebuilt to get the new door to fit properly. He worked a lot on the door...over 8 hours plus the painting. He's not fast but does quality work.
