Excellent service and attention to detail. Glenn Hollan knows what he is doing and he employees people who do as well. Bob was the main worker and did everything - framing, electrical, plumbing, tiling etc - and was absolutely fantastic to work with. We did have trouble with the floor installation, but Glenn was fair and resolved it to our satisfaction. Not the fastest or cheapest contractor, but you get what you pay for and we wanted it done right.

This person requested immediate response because he had rental property that his tenants had concern for their safety. I was not able to make it out for 5 days. It made him mad I guess. When I was able to go look at it I called him twice; he did not answer or return my call but was able to write his review.

I called on Wednesday, got a message back from Darren...if we needed plumbing work I should call a plumber because they were really busy. I called back, said it was just an outside faucet repair, didn't have to be done right away just within the next month. Darren called me Thursday afternoon, said they had a part delay for a particular job...he would have "....." there at 7AM the next morning. "....." arrived the next morning and had the job done in an hour including installing an inside shut off for the faucet.

The work is excellent, the crew was prompt, friendly, communicated well and was extremely tidy. They did extra nice things like touch up paint in places. Darren is professional and prompt in all communications including his billing which makes sense and is straightforward. We work lots of hours and have 'challenging" large pets and I am not an organized homemaker. Despite all this, these guys are great to work with and turn in a high quality product with a minimum of muss and fuss. What my husband likes best is they show up when they say they will, do what they say they will and bill accordingly. Classy.
Description of Work: Purchased and replaced all outdoor shutters. Purchased and replaced all indoor doors and hardware. Replaced awkward exterior window between rooms (one room had been converted from a solarium) with a terrific, attractive shelving unit. Tore out old basement drywall and finished basement walling. Built a closet with a door for the sump pump. Installed door going into laundry room. Replaced cabinet doors going down basement stairway.

I called, left a message for Darren Hoelle to call me. He called me the next day, told him I needed an estimate for painting. He came the next day. I had an e-mailed estimate the next day. he told me they could do the work sometime in December. I said I hope it's before my husband wants to put up the Christmas tree. He called on Friday,11/15 and said they would be here Monday,11/18 at 7:00am. Darren and two other men came promptly at 7:00am. Darren began work on the ceiling repair, told one man how to complete it and told them both what had to be done. One worked on the ceiling while one stripped the wallpaper. After the ceiling was repaired he began skim coating the kitchen walls while the other painted the family room ceiling, it took 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. The second day the skim coat was finished and sanded and the kitchen ceiling was painted. The third day one man painted the kitchen walls, baseboards, door and window trim. It took 2 men 2 days and one man on the third day. I was very pleased with their work and the results. They even hung plastic over the doorways to other rooms when the man was sanding to keep dust in the kitchen. They also vacuumed and mopped the floor. The price was what the estimate was. Darren Hoelle has done many things for us. He replaced front porch columns after a driver lost control, came up through our yard and "took out" the porch columns. His company replaced a bathroom double sink, counter top and faucets. His company installed a new built in stove, microwave, kitchen sink, faucet, disposal. His company repaired soffets on the back of the house and got rid of the squirrels in the attic. His company repaired window sills, trim, drip strips and painted the wood portion (the upstairs) of the house including window trim, shutters, doors and new garage door. I asked and Darren recommended a company. I bought a new garage door. Once my kitchen pipe, drain began leaking. I called, he was close by and Darren was here to fix it in 15 minutes. When "Hurricane Ike" came through here his company quickly came to cover the damaged roof area and then replaced the whole roof. He also did almost immediate repairs on several friends, relatives roofs which were damaged during the same storm. I met him in the 90s at a business show. He and his company have done many things around our house and has helped many of my friends and relatives. I have always been very pleased with the work, the responsiveness, everything about Hoelle Maintenance and Construction and I recommend the company.

On the first occasion that I used the service after purchasing the Big Deal Coupon for $75, a worker by the name of "Stacey" performed the service, and his work was very good - nice guy, professional, punctual, good at what he did. I was very pleased with the quality of his work and requested that he come back on the next occasion. Unfortunately, another worker was brought in to do the next round of handyman jobs and the situation was not good. Mr. Hoelle accompanied the man when he first started the day here and worked in my house for a time, until he left for another job. At that point in time, the new worker was stripping wallpaper in my first floor bathroom and he continued working in there for the remainder of the day. For many hours, I heard loud noises that indicated to me things were not going well - swearing, loud thuds from items being dropped on floor, etc. On far too many occasions, the worker went outside and stayed near his vehicle for what seemed too long a period of time. I finally checked on him outside and realized he was taking breaks, appearing frazzled. When I was able to take a break from my own job at home, I called Mr. Hoelle and expressed my concern over the matter, telling him that the man did not appear equipped to do the job. I asked Mr. Hoelle a couple of times if the man had ever worked for him before and he would not answer my question. He sounded very agitated on the phone and finally told me that the man had worked for over 20 years in construction, which still did not confirm that the man had ever done this sort of handyman work. The rest of the day was more of the same with the new worker and he finally left around 6:00 p.m. His final words were, "I better leave before I do more damage," and I actually felt sorry for the guy. My bathroom did not look good where the man had worked and I ended up needing more work done in there than I had originally intended. Mr. Hoelle had explained earlier in the day that small bathrooms are very difficult to work in, one of the hardest jobs to do, and I said that I never had seen trouble like that before in my past experience with handymen. He did credit me for a few hours of work ultimately, but I still ended up spending more than I should have. When I next saw "Stacey" at my house, he did confirm that the man had never worked for them before, and I appreciated his honesty. It seemed to me that what happened in my situation was simply a case of a company responding to a run on Angie's List Big Deal Coupons, whereby new workers were brought in on smaller jobs to get the job done. I did have Stacey come back for painting later on....good job, probably not at the greatest price, but needed the work done upstairs and had arranged it earlier on with the company.

Work done - Remodeled Kitchen & bathroom including: taking out wall, drywall work, changing and adding lighting, new floor, new cabinets, backsplash. Darren and his employees were a pleasure. Here are some of the things I appreciated: - Responsive and reliable: returned calls and emails quickly, told me when they would be here and showed up on time. - Easy to work with, patient, not "pushy", good suggestions - Honest/integrity; I felt comfortable welcoming Darren and his men into my home and around my family. Everyone was clean cut, polite and used "G" language. - Corrected problems: Throughout project, if problems arose, I was confident that they would be corrected. - Price: This was not the least expensive option/quote, however, I am pleased with my choice. Plus so much more... Darren worked with us to create a downstairs area suited to our tastes and wants.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to get some handyman work done. He did several things. I don't remember all of them. He changed some registers out for us and worked on some door locks. He did some ceiling tiles for me in the basement. He did several things that day. I only paid the initial price of the Big Deal. Darrin was helpful in connecting us to a source of countertop materials. His crew then removed the old countertop and he ordered the new for us. Since it took about a week for the new granite top to be cut to order, he ensured that we could use our kitchen a bit with temporary plywood boards. We were not able to have plumbing attached, but we were able to use the kitchen area. He facilitated the arrangements to have the counter installed and then his crew, lead by Stacy, installed the travertine backsplash. The entire process took just a bit over a week to complete. As with previous projects, the service was prompt, professional, of high quality, and left us with the construction debris cleaned up each day. We have used Hoelle for other projects and have been pleased each time. I would happily recommend him to friends and family.

The services rendered were of very high quality. We are extremely well pleased with the results both from a construction and an aesthetic point of view. We appreciated Darren's suggestions and guidance as we made decisions relative to space and design. His advice was always well considered but never pushed. He was prompt to provide his proposals as we made several changes along the way. He was able to provide suggestions as to vendors where we could view materials and was flexible with our choices. We appreciated his being the go-between for us with the vendors. Darren promptly returned phone calls as well. The crew, scheduled to arrive each day at 7:00 a.m., always arrived on time and left at a reasonable hour as well. Tarps were used to protect carpets and furniture, and clean-up was great. Stacy vacuumed each day in areas affected and in the hallways leading to to work areas. The crew was always pleasant to work with and to interact with. Stacy's work is of the highest quality. The bathrooms are wonderfully done, the tile was laid beautifully and the fixtures great. Darren suggested infinity doors for the showers which added greatly to the updated feel. The drywall work looks great as well. All in all, the work was well done, efficiently completed with high quality. I would happily recommend this company to others. .
Description of Work: They remodeled a shower stall, replaced toilets, removed an old tub, replaced it with a shower, and removed old flooring from 3 bathrooms and replaced it with ceramic tile. In one bathroom, they took out a wall and door to create one large space rather than 2 areas. In both shower areas, they removed soffits and replaced light fixtures. Some electric lines had to be installed as well. The cost indicated above included most but not all of the materials and supplies.
