He was horrible. I wanted like $20,000 to fix the house. Then he called the city on me. Cause we were putting in a new door cause somebody broke in. It was like a coupon, he gave me a hard time and he had an attitude. Once he came over he was like it is 20 grand. He used the opportunity to take advantage of me. He had nothing done I had to pay $100. He was really overpriced and wanted to mike you for what you got.

I left a message describing the issue and asking if they were interested in responding to a "small" service job. Ed returned my call in a prompt manner. He asked several questions concerning the job and gave me an estimate over the phone. Ed and another gentleman arrived on time and quickly replaced the outlet. In addition, I was provided with additional options, if this repair didn't completely correct the problem. My Angie's List discount coupon was accepted without issue. Ed was patient and polite.
Description of Work: Replaced an exterior electrial outlet, which was leaking, during wet weather, causing my GFI to "trip".

They showed up when they said they would which was good. They gave me a fair estimate pretty much a ballpark over the phone and it was well within what they said on the phone. The service guy was fine. He suggested something that made things easier. They did the job within the price they said.

They are elecricians and know how to do it. They have done a good job. I trust the work they do. I would recommed them to others. I do not have any problems with them and I am calling them back to do more work.
Description of Work: I used the services of Gary’s Electric in the past and then they are coming out to do another job on Monday. The last time I used them was on September 25th of 2009. It costed me $1300. They changed the electrical service to the house. They upgraded the service panel.

I had a great customer experience! From the time of my call to request service, throughout the duration of the service, I was treated in a friendly and professional manner. An electrician was sent out within a short time after my call and when the work was completed, fortunately, I didn't have to call the HVAC folks back! I received an explanation of the work needed and the electrician took the ime to answer additional questions I had, not specifically related to the service call. I will definitely recommend Gary's and will be reaching out to them for additional work.
Description of Work: My furnace stopped working and I called an HVAC professional. At the recommendation of the HVAC professional who was unable to diagnose the problem as he believed there was an issue with the electrical wiring to the furnace, I called Gary's Electric (who I found in the classified ad section of January issue of Angies List). The electrician checked my furnace panel, electric breaker box as well as the furnace switch and connections in the furnace junction box. He found a loose neutral wire and tightned the connection. He also re-did the wiring for my washer outlet!

Ed (the electrician from Gary's) was able to replace the conduit and re-wire the light. It took him and his assistant 2 hours, but were able to fix the problem. They did a nice job.
Description of Work: I needed to have an outdoor flood light re-wired due to squirrel's gnawing on the PVC conduit and wiring. The gnawed conduit and exposed wiring were located in an tight, small wedge shaped space located between the roof of the our sun/three season room and the soffit of the house roof.

The entire job went very well and orderly. I selected what I wanted or could find at very good stores Ed told me about. I did make a mistake when ordering the madallions but was able to take them back. Everything was taken care of and it's nearly exactly what I wanted. I could not use a dimmer switch on the fan lights, that's all that upset me, due to the bulbs used for the lights and there was option for no other choice is available for the Hunter fixtures and still have a clean design that I wanted. The guys were wonderful to work with and knew their business very well. Ed took a new bad bulb out the hanging fixture in thekitchen that was not sealed right at socket and was hanging by the elements and when I put this very large designer bulb on the table, it had rolled off and shattered on the kitchen floor, so I could not take it back to the store for replacement. I'm the only one who had an accident. No other problems occured, not even another by me. Everything went in several steps due to returning items and waiting for correct items to be delivered to the store. The only thing that took a lot of time was getting the correct parts and returning the wrong ones. I was suprised how fast Ed was at getting the work completed! The $1,200 was all the work done by Gary's Electric. I can't tell how nice it is to have over head lights in the great room but, it's wonderful. The conversion from dirt collecting multipal lights in the bedroom was great and there's no a glare that was horrible before. I use night lights through out my home to keep the cost of electric down and for walking through the house at night. I only use my other lights when needed. I can say that now, when I really need a lot of light, I finally have it! The men were wonderful to work with. Gary's electric is not expensive for the work they did and this was good as I'm watching my spending. Ed will even give you ideas on how to get the lights or electric you need in the least expensive way. I did meet Gary and he is a nice person to talk to. Most of the time I only talked to Gary on the phone. Ed did nearly all of the work but had a man who helped him when needed. They cleaned up after they completed their work each day, this is not something all workers will do and to me, this shows class!
Description of Work: Added new lighting to two drop fans in great room, changed lighting on master bedroom fan, added lighting fixtures in garage, added outlets (3) in garage, added new drop lighting fixture in dinning room, installed new drop lighting fixture over kitchen table and added madallions to both of these drop lights, installed out door lighting and new switch inside for backyard deck and new security outdoor lighting for side of house and front of house and a new switch in garage for them. Ed also added new electrical outdoor outlets to side of house and to the front court yard. They were very careful, neat and clean at all times and also helpful in letting me know where to buy items I needed to order. The drop lighting fixtures was converted from swage lamps I had bought many years ago and used at another home.

It took quite a while between first contact and completion of work, but holidays, bitter cold weather and the need to get other quotes delayed the work. The old electric panel was corroded because the plastic sheath protecting the exterior wires was cracked and had a large hole in it. Ed and Richard installed the new panel and exterior wiring including a riser to bring it up to current codes. When they were finished they cleaned up and took their trash with them. My only complaint is that the dryer and a/c circuit breakers were labeled wrong.
Description of Work: Replaced electric service panel and replaced exterior wiring on a recently purchased 1950's house.

My experience with them was fine. The electrician made a special visit to check the problem and resolved the issue. I haven’t yet received a bill from him, but I feel that the price would be inexpensive. The quality of his work was good. He also called me to let me know as to what was going on, as I wasn’t at home. He was very helpful and responsive. He called me back immediately after I called him to set up an appointment. He also called me before he left my home to inform me about the situation. He was punctual, as he showed up when he said he was going to. He was very professional as well. I will use his services in the future, if needed.

Gary's Electric was recommended by our kitchen general contractor. Employees met with me prior to installation to discuss number and placement of cans, and how I would like the lights to operate (which lights on which switches). They were able to cut into the ceiling drywall and install with such precision that I didn't even have to repaint my ceiling. The cost above includes cans and installation - I supplied the light switches.
Description of Work: Installed 10 can lights in kitchen and living room. Rewired existing and added new switches to control different groupings of lights.
