I called Fast Response and the owner said prove it. He yelled several times and said their contract covers against issues. He said I was trying to make money off of them.
Description of Work: On August 10, Fast Response Heating and Cooling, came to our home to move our condenser unit to the side of our home. The following Sunday morning, the air conditioner stopped. On Monday August 13, they concluded that we needed a new compressor in addition to a new coil. He also said Hey, I can have a new Goodman Unit in for you tonight! Another company pointed out several issues: Service door was left on the ground near the condenser unit. Pad under unit was never moved with unit. Condenser unit was placed at an angle on the mulch with no pad underneath. Unit was left two inches from the sump pump release valve. Unit was less than 10 inches from the home. We could actually hear the king valve leaking Freon. This was so loose that it could be removed by touching and twisting it with his fingers. Oily film all around the king valve due to refrigerant leaking. Refrigerant tubing was not flush with the house. Out six inches from home.

In the Fall for the first appointment they were a no show. I had a supervisor call me. He came out the next day and performed the check at no charge (I thought "things happen" and they seemed pretty good). Now comes the Spring and I called to have my A/C checked and made an appointment. AGAIN they were a no show. I called and I got a story about how their computers went down. They promised that a tech would be at my home between 9-11 AM. I got a call at 10 AM stating that they were busy and would not be able to make it. Furthermore, I have called on 3 occasions to bring this to the attention of a supervisor or manager and no one is ever available.
Description of Work: I had initially had Fast Response perform my annual furnace check up in the fall and called again in the Spring to have the A/C checked.

The company responded under the American Home Shield warranty program. Discovered that a Harry Homeowner job that installed the wrong thermostat. Messed up the wires in the furnace and was causing the no heat problem. Could gave fixed it for about $500. Instead, recommended a brand new HVAC system to take advantage of $3,500 warranty money available under the American Home Shield program. I was skeptical so I checked with another contractor. High on Angie's list. Found out that the price of the system was at least $8,500 so the $5,000 price was good. Also, the recommended equipment American Standard was good equipment. The company was prompt, had nice employees and did a good job.
Description of Work: New gas furnace, electric air conditioner, humidifier, UV air filter and digital thermostat.

SAME DAY RESPONSE AFTER ANOTHER COMPANY SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AND FAILED TO SHOW. CALLED BACK IN FOR FURNACE CLEANING. EXCELLENT JOB, VERY THOROUGH, TIMELY AND PROFESSIONAL.

HE SAID THAT THE FURNACE WAS OK TO USE. AFTER GETTING A SECOND OPINION, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FURNACE WAS PRODUCING TOO MUCH CARBON MONOXIDE AND DISCONNECTED THE FURNACE. I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!

THE PERSON THAT THEY SUBCONTRACTED THE JOB TO WAS RUDE AND INTIMIDATING. HE DEMANDED FULL PAYMENT FOR A PROJECT AND THEN WOULD NOT LEAVE WITHOUT A $50 PAYMENT FOR SHOWING UP. THIS ACTIVITY SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, USE CITY WIDE HAVC.
Description of Work: WE CALLED CITY WIDE AND RECEIVED THE LOWEST PRICE QUOTE. CITY WIDE CONTRACTED THE WORK OUT TO A NOBODY. THE PERSON INFORMED THAT HE WOULD NOT BE DOING THE WORK THAT DAY AND DEMANDED FULL PAYMENT OF $450. HE SAID THAT PRE-PAYMENT WAS NORMAL. WE SAID THAT THAT WAS NOT TRUE. NO CONTRACTOR SHOULD BE PAID 100% BEFORE THE WORK IS COMPLETE. HE THEN INTIMIDATED A STAY AT HOME MOM INTO PAYING A $56 RESPONSE FEE BEFORE HE WOULD LEAVE MY HOME. I DO NOT SUGGEST THAT ANYONE EVER CONTACT CITY WIDE HEATING AND COOLING EVER AGAIN.

THE FIRST VISIT THEY CAME OUT, I LET THEM TALK ME INTO A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT FOR TWO SERVICE VISITS. MY UNIT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. THE FURNACE WENT OUT AND I CALLED THEM, THEY CAME OUT AND CHARGED ME FOR A SERVICE CALL EVEN THOUGH I HAD A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT.
Description of Work: THEY CAME OUT TO FIX MY AIR CONDITIONER. THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING, AND CHARGED ME FOR A SERVICE CALL. THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT AGAIN AND THEY CAME AND LOOKED AT IT AND SAID I HAD A LEAK AND NEEDED A VERY EXPENSIVE PART. THEY REPLACED IT.

Description of Work: CONTACTED 9-23 AND SCHEDULED 5:30 APPT FOR 9-25-02. ON 9-25 I CALLED TO SAY I WAS DETAINED AT WORK, WOULD BE 20 MINUTES LATE BUT MY HUSBAND WOULD MOST LIKELY BE HOME. TECHNICIAN NEVER ARRIVED AND DID NOT CALL. I CALLED AGAIN BUT NO ONE CAME. ON 9-26 I CALLED AGAIN AND RESCHEDULED FOR 5:30 9-26-02. TECHNICIAN CAME DURING DAY INSTEAD OF 5:30, HE LEFT MSG ON ANSWERING MACHINE. I CALLED BACK TO VERIFY EVENING APPT. BUT BECAUSE I WAS UPSET WITH THEM BOB YELLED AT ME THAT HE WAS NOT ANTHONY (TECH) AND HE''D HAVE TO CONTACT HIM TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. ANTHONY CALLED TO SAY HE''D BE OUT BY 7:00 BUT HE NEVER SHOWED UP NOR DID HE CALL. I HAD ALSO ARRANGED FOR THEM TO DO MY ELDERLY NEIGHBORS WORK, TOO, SO THEY LOST TWO JOBS.

I REALIZE THE TECHNICIAN WAS TRYING TO DO ME A FAVOR BY HAVING ME CONTACT THE CARRIER REPRESENTATIVE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD MAKE ANY CONCESSIONS SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED; HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH THE TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN WONDERFUL DURING THE DAY, THERE IS STILL A PRETTY GOOD CHILL AT NIGHT AND DURING THE EARLY MORNING AND, FOR 7 DAYS HE LET ME LIVE WITH NO HEAT EVEN AFTER I TOLD HIM ABOUT MY RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS AND THE FACT THAT I AM VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO BRONCHITIS. I WILL NEVER USE HIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE AND, SINCE I HAVE ALSO NOT HEARD A WORD FROM THE CARRIER REPRESENTATIVE I WILL ALSO NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CARRIER PRODUCT.

ON MONDAY MORNING AND HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK WITH CARRIER AND GET BACK WITH ME. I THEN CALLED THE TECHNICIAN AND ADVISED HIM TO GO AHEAD AND ORDER THE MOTOR. ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON I HADN''T HEARD ANYTHING SO I CALLED THE TECHNICIAN AND TOLD HIM I HAD RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS AND THE NIGHTS AND MORNINGS WERE TOO COLD AND I WOULD PAY THE REPAIR BECAUSE I NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE SOME HEAT. THE COMPANY DID NOT CALL ME BACK WITH AN APPOINTMENT TIME, THE TECHNICIAN JUST SHOWED UP UNEXPECTEDLY.
