I use this company for weekly lawn cutting. I'm pretty particular about the way things are done, and so far, this company has done a good job, The crew is in and out in no time and I haven't had any negative experiences with them so far,

Terrific! The crew arrived early, completed the work professionally and in a very timely manner. They left my lawn and gardens in excellent condition. I was happy with fee as well. Interestingly, when I tried to tip the two-man crew, they politely refused and said they were only doing their job. Would I hire again? In a heartbeat!

I have never written a negative review on Angie's List in more than a year of being a member, but Mowtivated Mowers has earned it. We hired them to mow our yard in the summer of 2014 for $35/week. Everything was fine for about a year. In the spring of 2015, we added a few trees and a garden to our yard. The company came out and mowed the lawn approximately six times in the spring before the owner called and said that due to the new obstacles, the price would increase to $45. After discussing this with my wife, she called him back and offered to have us do all the edging/weedwhacking work if he kept the price at $35/week. He agreed. About a week later, we got a bill for $45/week. Thinking it was a simple clerical error, she called him back. He said the increase was correct and was insistent that we "should have known" that making changes to our property would result in an increase. This was not in writing anywhere, it's just something that, in his words, "everybody knows." To be clear, he was increasing the price retroactively and insisting that we pay it. I just spoke with him again on the phone and he threatened to take us to court over the $10/week difference ($40 total). If you search them on Google reviews, there are a number of negative reviews about the company including one about the company being "rude and sneaky." I couldn't agree more. I can't fathom how someone can think it's a good idea to operate this way in a small town like Granville. If a guy is willing to threaten to go to court over $40, you wonder how his business is really doing. Incidentally, on Google Reviews, one of the 5* reviews there (Michael Smith) is from someone with the same name as the owner of the company. I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it was him. Makes you wonder who the other 5* reviews are from.

They often come in the middle of the night to perform these services, make a lot of noise, and wake me up. I have asked the owner of the company to stop coming during the time of our town's noise ordinance, but he refuses to listen, and he treats me disrespectfully. They also have unapologetically damaged my property in the process of performing services for my neighbor. Do not hire this company. At this point, since I have repeatedly asked the owner of Mowtivated Mowers to refrain from making so much noise, I feel that his refusal to be respectful is intentional harassment. I have filed a formal complaint with the police.

I authorized the work on April 16th. The work on the landscape beds was completed on April 26th of average quality; however, they did not split the wood. About three weeks later the company sent an invoice and asked when I was going to pay it. I told the owner I would pay it when the job was completed. A company representative followed up and told me that the job was done and demanded payment, but it was not true. The representative later came to the site and still insisted that the job was completed even though the wood was obviously not split - hard to understand. The job eventually was finished on June 11th, 2013, but it was not done very well and certainly not per my written instructions. I paid the invoice on June 12 and instructed the owner that I was willing to pay additional funds to complete the job to my satisfaction (assuming he did not have enough money in the job). On June 18th he sent me an email indicating that he would not do any work until I paid his invoice. I replied in a late evening email telling him that I did not understand and asked him to call me to discuss. He responded a couple of days later by sending another confusing email and I ended up reaching out to him by telephone on June 24th. He claimed that he never received my check and would be charging me late fees. I apologized, explained that I had mailed a check, and told him that I would send a replacement check to him as he returned the second check if the first was found. He agreed to this arrangement and I mailed a check on June 25th. It is July 6th and I opened my statement to find that he cashed the first check on June 14th and the second check on June 26th. So now he has managed to get himself paid twice for the same job without satisfying the customer. DO NOT use this vendor. I have used his company in the past for snow removal and lawn mowing and experienced average work for a reasonable price, but something has changed and the vendor can no longer be trusted.
