These guys did a great job and were quick and efficient. They laid out the schedule beforehand and stayed true. Warned that I may need to touch up the white quarter round along the baseboards but these guys were so careful that no touch up was necessary. Will be calling them again whenever I rip up the carpet on the second floor. 5 stars

We hired Fabulous Floors to install hardwood throughout our home in October 2017. This involved installing some new flooring and refinishing some existing hardwood flooring to match the newly installed flooring. This work was done before we moved in to the home. First, I should state that I have very intentionally waited more than a year to post this review because I wanted to be sure to experience the floors in our home for a significant amount of time before posting a knee-jerk reaction. (In fact, the longer I have waited, the more problems we have experienced.) Overall, I would strongly not recommend Fabulous Floors. We are extremely unhappy with the craftsmanship of the work. The gentlemen doing the work were nice and it was pleasant to work with David. He tried his best to accommodate us and address the problems we experienced. However, we certainly would not use them again and I would never recommend them to do other work. Below is a list of the issues that we experienced and continue to experience: • There are many spots throughout the home where the circular marks from the sander are very visible and quite ugly. There is even one spot in a hallway where someone set a can of stain down and left a round mark on the floor that is visible. In fact, all of this is so bad that David offered to refinish the floors in our entire house at no cost. We opted not to do that because there was no way that we would have been able to move all of our furniture out of the house and live somewhere else while they completed that job. Plus, we didn’t trust them to do quality work a second time. • There are multiple spots where the hardwood flooring boards continue to pop up. This is not the typical squeaking that might come from the subflooring. These boards are actually popping up to the point where the unfinished side potion of the wood is visible above the rest of the floor. I assume they were not installed correctly. David’s crew tried to fix this once by pounding the heck out of the floor. This slightly fixed the problem but they are coming back up in various spots. We seem to notice new boards popping up every few weeks or so. • They installed new stair treads and risers. This was very poorly done. The steps squeak and creak badly. There are gaps where the stairs don’t fit correctly. They damaged the existing portions of the stairs such that we had to hire someone to repair them. • They damaged door frames and moldings in various places, which I had to repair. • There are several places throughout the house where they used wood with gaps or cracks in it or they left gaps between the boards or between the boards and the wall. They attempted to fill in these spaces with wood putty. Over time, the putty has been drying and cracking and it leaves the gaps unfilled or cracked, which is quite ugly. • There are spots where nail holes are visible in the floors. • There are several spots where they didn’t sand well and the wood is bumpy or there are knots that stick up higher than the rest of the floor. In some spots the finish of the poly is rough or bumpy as if they didn’t sand between coats or as if there was debris stuck in between the stained wood and the coat of poly. • The floors scratch very easily. We never wear shoes in the house and we have noticed dozens of places where the floors have scratched. We have tried to hide the scratches the best we can with a Minwax stain pen. We do not feel as if the floors will hold up well over time. We are certain that at some point we will need to have the floors refinished. If you are thinking about having hardwood floors installed, my wife and I strongly recommend that you not use Fabulous Floors. I decided to list this review not to be mean but to make sure that someone does not make the same mistake we made. We invested a lot of money into installing hardwood floors in our home. Each time we see one of the cracks, notice one of the sanding mistakes or step on a loose board, we are reminded how disappointed we are. We are especially disappointed when we have a guest in our home and they notice the mistakes. I am sure there are other people who are thinking about making the same investment in their home and I want to help them to make an informed decision.

We hired Fabulous Floors based on price (got mutliple quotes) and recommendation from a friend. We had them refinish prefinished floors to a darker color. We also had them replace a carpeted room with wood flooring to match the rest. We were a little nervous as we had gotten mixed information on the ability to refinish prefinished floors (we wanted to get rid of the groove/bevel between the planks). We are thrilled with the work done, the floors turned out great ... you cannot tell the difference between the old and new floors ... they match so well. They did a decent job taping off areas to minimize dust. Only issue is that the tape pulled off paint on one wall. Communication was a little difficult with the workers on site.

I liked the owner but he doesn’t do any of the work. Nor is he around when the work is being performed. The sub-contractors used my home like a lumber yard. The cut all the hardwood inside my home. When I demanded it be done outside, they refused, then stated we don’t speak English. The stain job was average and the first layer of seal coat had bubbles throughout. Not sure if was old or just left outside and applied cold. They did resand and reseal the Floors. Still have places that the hardwood planks are pulling apart from each other. In the end I should have used some of the reputable businesses!! Price was similar to other appraisals.. (definitely not $1 sq ft as advertised). Experienced other issues too, but you get the point. Substandard work.

While I understand your frustration that the crew doing your job did not speak very much English, they do very good work. It was not "substandard" and I was there multiple times and the job was completed and looked very good when we finished it almost 3 months ago. We also discussed the "bubbles", and as I explained, when the first coat of polyurethane is applied it tends to look uneven and possibly bumpy as the grain of the wood pops up...that is why it is screen sanded between coats prior to the final coat of polyurethane. in your case I even did a 3rd coat of polyurethane. The $.99 advertised price is for resurfacing, not resanding/refinishing and installation which is the service you requested and I provided you.

David, the owner, came out and measured and gave us an estimate. We felt the estimate was fair, and since the company was highly rated on Angie's List, we decided to go with them. David instructed us to get 340 square feet of wood, and have it waiting for him to install, which we did. He did not discuss with us any trim or molding pieces, we were left to guess what was needed. The crew came on time on the agreed upon date. Unbeknownst to us, they were subcontractors who did not speak English very well. They brought their own microwave, and set it up in our kitchen without asking permission. We ended up running out of wood, even though we bought more wood than David instructed us to buy. The installers used the bad pieces of wood included in the boxes (worm holes, warping, etc), and did not even think to hide those pieces where the kitchen cabinets would hide the imperfections. We had to purchase another box of wood, then wait to have the crew come back to install it. The crew came one day later than scheduled to finish the job. I spoke with David about having the crew replace the bap pieces of wood. He instructed them to do so. Once I saw how they make repairs (sawing out a 4inch piece of wood and gluing a replacement piece in) I decided to leave well enough alone. Another thing that bothered me was the fact that they used stain that was way too dark for the wood, to try to cover the spots where wood filler was used. This only highlighted imperfections. David did not come out to inspect the finished product or to collect payment. We just received a text asking if we sent in our payment. I am absolutely disappointed in this process and would not recommend Fabulous Floors.

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment and apologize for any misunderstandings. Originally you were not sure if you were going to do the laundry room so it was quoted separately; the wood to order amount was for the kitchen area; I guess I should have been more clear. I was also original going to demo the existing tile and discussed that my subcontractors would be doing the work. Your husband and I discussed the trim and mailing payment upon completion when we started the job. Again, I am sorry for any miscommunications and will discuss the microwave issue with my subcontractors.

It wound up running into several issues and dragging out for 3 weeks. The quality of the work when it was done was good. The issues that we ran into were timing. First of all, when the first coat of stain was put down, the workers came back very early the next morning, even though they didn't finish staining it until late in the afternoon. They said that the stain was still wet. They couldn't do the first coat of polyurethane that day, even though they didn't wait exactly 24 hours or even close to 24 hours. That kind of bothered me because it pushed us back another day and we were out of the house another 24 hours off of that. Once they completed the polyurethane, even though they were explicitly told not to put any type of molding down, they nailed down molding into the wood floors, and then they polyurethane on top of that. They damaged the floors by putting in molding that needed to be ripped up. They had to come back several times to fix the molding issue. They had to rip up the molding again and polyurethane again. My wife and I were out of the house for over a week because of this. Essentially, the issue was, the workers and the manager had poor coordination between the two. The work they did was good. The way we had to fight and argue to get it done, was not. The price is about average. It's not a good price, it's not a bad price. It would have been a better price if they had kept it to the timeline that we had originally said. One of the reasons I went with them was because I needed it done quickly. My wife was pregnant at the time so I needed her to be back in the house as quickly as possible for obvious reasons. The turnaround that we were projected was 3 to 4 days. It wound up being 5 days initially, and then we had to be out of the house for 2 more days. It wound up taking over a full week. so twice as long as originally projected due to all of the issues and I had to keep calling. There were also other issues, but I guess they were unrelated. Pricing wise, it was between $2 - $3 a square foot. The quality of the work when it was done was good. The owner who was also managing the project, was a very nice guy. He was helpful in trying to re mediate all the issues. It was just we were working with timelines with his other projects. The workers, I feel like, they themselves were not as responsive as the management was. The manager was good and responsive. He would notify us if there were any issues. The workers themselves, he would say they'd be over to finish. They could show up from anywhere from 7:30 in the morning to noon, which is really unacceptable when you are working with a drying timeline. The management, his name is David. He was great. Very professional. The workers on the other hand, they were initially cordial, but I could tell that they were displeased that they had to keep coming back. One of them specifically questioned me about why we wanted the molding pulled up. I told him we didn't want it to begin with and we told them explicitly not to do it. He seemed a little obstinate about that, trying to convince me I should just let it go, which was bothering me. They also on two separate occasions, they used the downstairs toilet and urinated in it and didn't flush it. Another gentleman used the downstairs toilet and went full bathroom and didn't flush it there. It sat there for 2 days because of the polyurethane drying. I would say that's fairly unprofessional. That was very disappointing. The management himself, he was very unhappy with the situation when I told him about it. He was great to work with. His employees on the other hand needed work. If I ever did use them again, I would have to be very strict about everything. I would have to micro-management, which I wouldn't want to do. He seemed like he was very busy and he took the time to address all my problems. It just was something I was not available to deal with at the time. It was not exactly the sort of experience I wanted. If I used him again, it would not be for a while. I would wait and hopefully he was either have some changes in his team or have some more specific guidelines for them to follow before I would follow. There is no fault with the owner / manager. He was great. Unfortunately, his team did not follow his directions or he was not clear enough.

David, the owner of the franchise was fantastic to deal with. However, his subcontractors weren't supervised and did an "OK" job, but not a great job. I had to call David and tell him the issues, he promptly sent the subs back out to rework and fix the problems. But, if David had inspected the work in the first place (I live out of town and it was a non-occupied house), he would have seen it wasn't acceptable and fixed it before I had to tell him.

I can't begin to explain how excited I am with the finished product!. My kitchen floors are Ebony mulit-shaded and remainder of the rooms are Early American. The original flooring had a beautiful design around the edge of the rooms. David's crew worked a miracle in my home:) The floors are absolutely beautiful!! I have already had 3 people ask me for the contact information for Fabulous Floors. The crew was incredibly professional and paid attention to the smallest of details. I feel like I have a new home. They performed the work in a very timely manner and were able to start the job quickly. I was very happy with the cost of the service however the floors were not as finished as I would like. The sanding was uneven in many areas. The replaced the toe moulding but did not fill nail holes and paint which not a huge deal as I was able to do it. They did get stain on the white faces of the steps and on some of my custom painted cabinets which is difficult and tedious to fix. I had some difficulty communicating with the work crew as only one spoke some English.

They did an amazing job. I knew they wouldn't be able to get a lot of the stains out and I was fine with that but they still look amazing. Sometime in the future I'm getting them completely redone and I plan on using them again.
Description of Work: We had floors that had been covered up by carpet for god knows how long so really we just needed a little sprucing up (that's a wood pun). I can not be happier for the final look of the floor! It is GORGEOUS! Everyone came to our house LOVES this floor. They had not damaged any baseboard. Sand (from the floor) was an bit of issue, I guess they collected 95% of it but still a lot left in the area. Although they covered carpet area and stairs to 2nd floor, but the dust was everywhere. I cleaned it in 2 days BUT it was worth, I strongly believe. I wished that the manager told us prior to the day1 that he will be bringing clews who does not speak English. When they came across a question, we needed to call him to communicate with the clews. He came at the end of the project and make it sure that everything went well.
Description of Work: They refinished our first floor hardwood flooring (620 sqft), including kitchen, breakfast nook, 2 closets, powder room, hallway, mudroom, and the entrance. I initially wanted to just re-surface, but the floor had previous cheap product peeling off from the floor and they recommended re-finishing instead. They sanded the floor day1, stained (natural) and sealed (satin) Day2, and we waited for 24hrs to walk.

This was the worst experience I have EVER had. The owner subcontracted out all of the work. He NEVER told us that. He said he was going to do it. I only saw him once, for less than 5 minutes, when he came to pick up the deposit the first day- and actually asked me to pay in full in advance. The workers came on time, and were pleasant. I am not sure they ever got the right instructions. I had to have them come back twice because they did not remove all of the paint on the stairs and left one area without poly. Although I asked the owner to come to see the floors and he said no. I offered to send pictures and he said it was not necessary. This provider does not live in Cincinnati, which may have contributed to him not coming to see the work.

Sorry that you are dissatisfied. I discussed that I have subcontractors when I initially met with your husband and also the first day when I got there ahead of the subcontractors. When you expressed concerns, my subcontractor and I responded as quickly as possible within your availability parameters. When refinishing older steps that have been painted and are not tightly installed, it can sometimes be more difficult to get in between and remove paint that is lodged in between the boards. We did come back and get in between even more than the first time when you expressed dissatisfaction. I strive to ensure that we do quality work and again I am sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction, older floors can not always be brought back to perfect condition.

[member name removed], sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction this way; we did this job a year and a half ago. We discussed the nail hole discoloration when we first talked about doing the job. I explained that we would do what we could to minimize the damage but the only way to totally get rid of the problem was to replace the boards. We did fill them and we even came back out and worked on it a little more after we were done. I went out of my way to accommodate getting your job done right away and we did a good job on refinishing your older floors.
