Found MIke on Angie's List. Called him at 5:30 pm and left a message on his phone. He responded quickly and agreed to meet us within a 1/2 hour to look at air conditioning unit. He looked at unit, informed us of problem, gave us a quote which we approved, got the part needed off his truck and replaced it immediately. House was cooling down within 1/2 hour of his arrival!

I called asking for information and if it was possible to repair a problem with water intrusion in vents contained in a slab home and if Price could do it. The owner called me back later in the day when he returned to work and spend 20 minutes to a half hour on the phone with me going over my issue and possible solutions to the problem. His knowledge and intuition of the problem was outstanding. Even though I did not require his workmanship at this time, his time was invaluable to me and I am very grateful for it. If ever I need help or work done Price will be the first ones I call. I now have a direction to go that will not involve me spending as much on my home as it is worth. I cannot thank you enough for your time. I wish every company had this type of one to one customer service.

We had a new furnace installed last winter as the old one was cracked. We did not see much difference in air circulation with the new one. When we tried to put a new filter in, the instructions were not clear -- we could not figure out how to change the filter. Also, in the past we have always had the furnace checked twice a year and missed our usual fall check. He checked the furnace carefully and found that it was not sealed in properly nor was it vented correctly. He immediately corrected the sealing problems and helped us with our problems changing the filter. The filter was an odd size and shape which he did not have in stock. He immediately ordered what we needed and was hand delivered to us the next week. We also, made an appointment to correct the venting problem which was handled in a professional manner.
Description of Work: Repairs and general inspection. Mike found that our furnace was not sealed properly and immediately made the necessary corrections.

Started by figuring out which pieces to take apart first what we needed to do job. Other guy went to get parts while we tore things apart. Put those together when he got back. Turned the water on but pipe leaked below where we had fixed because we had crushed that pipe when we tightened the pipe above. Had to get some other pieces to finish that section, to conect to the rest of the loop. We both agreed we should have just replaced the whole loop instead of replacing just a section of it. Also learned that the caps on the ends of loops are for clean outs for build up of sludge. Guess it was a learning experience for me on steam heat. Mike is very professional is his work, I would recomend him any time for HVAC work to anybody.

Mike came in and debunked what a home inspector had said he found wrong with our old furnace. However, we decided to get a new furnace anyway, even though Mike said their was nothing wrong with our old one, just needed a good cleaning. We were selling our home and decided to just get a new one. He gave us one h*** of deal. I can't say enough good things about Mike, or his son who also came over to inspect the old furnace. Furnace was installed in about 4 hours start to finish. Do yourselves a favor, if your looking for heating and cooling needs, call Mike first.

When they came out to give the estimate, they already had gotten our square footage from the Internet, asked all about the amt. of insulation. They asked if we had 2x4 walls or 2x6's. They quoted a price on the size unit we needed. We got 2other estimates. When we contacted them, they gave us a date when they would install. They were here on time, they covered all the floors from the back door to and including the cellar steps. They were very careful removing the old units.....Our old units were vented up the chimney. These units needed had to have an intake and output pipe that had to be drilled through the basement wall and into the brick exterior. They were meticulous job. My husband was extremely impressed.we can't say enough about the professionalism of this company. We would feel comfortable recommending them. We are totally satisfied with this experience!!!

Originally contacted Price for a rough estimate on replacing our aging, ancient heating and cooling in our 103 year old house. Bill came out, and gave a very detailed inspection and evaluation, then mailed and emailed the exact details of what he proposed, with prices. In our discussions, he demonstrated in depth knowledge, and explained why he did things the way he did. Our 30 year old furnace finally died, and we had to re-evaluate what we wanted to do, due to budget, and Bill was more than accommodating our needs and desires. Price came this morning, and by 2pm, we had a new furnace! The technicians took the time to explain how the new thermostat worked, where everything was, cleaned up any mess they had made. Price's price was a bit higher than others, but my opinion is, the level of professionalism of Bill and his crew is WELL worth the added money. They will be back in the spring to put in new A/C to go with the new furnace, and I'm sure we'll be just as happy then!

A complete estimate was given, which included 2 price options. Recommended increasing duct size to increase cold air return. On the installation day, 2 individual came, and work steadily, and neatly until the job was completed. They were polite, and answer any and all questions. Because we chose a high efficent furnace we were eligible for a rebate from Dominion. The building analyst from Good Sense, who did the energy performance on our home was impressed with the quality of the work and the product. I think that says it all!!.

Noticed my A/C was making a loud noise. Went outside to look and saw that, although it was running, the fan was not turning. I turned it off in 94 degree weather. It was a Sunday. I went to Angie's List to see ratings for some local HVAC businesses, although I had always used Price in the past. Angie's List only confirmed that Price was the one. I went online to their website and under "contact us," sent them an email that I needed them to call me to set up an appt. for an A/C repair. I then forgot all about it. While at work on Monday, my cell phone rang. IT WAS PRICE! I said, " Oh my goodness! You read your email." She just laughed. They schedule an appt. range for that afternoon. The repairman arrived in the middle of that timeframe and withing 15 minutes, the A/C was fixed. He never had to enter my house. He did try to sell me a maintenance contract whereby they would periodically check both my A/C and heating, but I declined. He was very pleasant, as was the entire experience.

Chris went over our goals for the project and twice submitted plans with modifications we requested. He was knowledgable and patient with our questions. If he didn't know answers, he sought out information from reliable sources. Century home with 15 rooms and no duct work presented complex planning. Minimal interior cosmetic repairs were part of goals. Split units with outside heat pumps (4) and interior wall hanging units (5) have served our purposes well so far this spring and early summer season. Install was timely and professionally performed. All efforts possible to control dirt, dust and debris were done with daily clean up. Crew arrived on time, were pleasent and professional. Due to the nature of the home (lathe and plaster) some unexpected wall damage occurred. Price arranged for their insurance company to evaluate and check promptly issued for repair. Accounting services were cooperative, knowledgable and very pleasent. Would seek their bid in future for any heating and cooling needs

Our central air stopped working on May 3, 2012. I called Price Heating & Cooling because they have serviced our furnace & central air every year. Mr. Miller, service manager, came out that same day around 3 or 4 p.m. He checked our unit and found the coil in the unit, which was only 6 years old & bought from another company, had stopped working. At first we were just going to buy a new coil for the central air unit, but we were told if we did that, and the furnace stopped working, we would end up having to buy another new coil to fit the furnace. (I need to add that when we had our furnace inspected & serviced by Price in the fall, the technician warned us that we would have to replace it soon. After all, it was over 30 years old.) We made an appointment for an estimate to replace the furnace & the central air units together for May 7, 2012. Mr. Miller, service manager, came out when he said he would, and explained all of the central air units & furnaces they had, and what the cost savings were with each one. He also explained we could get a $150.00 rebate. It applied to residential, add-on replacement purchases during a certain period of time for Carrier products. Only Carrier systems or units purchased from participating dealers between March 1, 2012 and June 30, 2012 and installed by July 15, 2012 are eligible for the rebate. We decided to purchase a new furnace & a new central air unit from Price Heating & Cooling. The warrenty is 1 year labor, 10 years parts on all equipment & thermostat, and a lifetime heat exchanger warrenty. The installation date was May 9, 2012. We were told they would arrive at our home around 8 or 8:30 a.m. They were in my driveway exactly at 8a.m. There were 2 technicians working, and one was working with the central air unit outside and inside, and the other tech was working on the furnace. The tech outside leveled the old pad where the existing central air unit was, and we could reuse the outside disconnect the exisiting refrigeration lines & the existing gas pipes and gas valves. I went upstairs to do some house work, but checked every now & then. They never stopped working, only to take a lunch break. The total removal & install time was 8-4:30p.m. Excellent techs, very friendly, answered all of my questions (why this & why that).I have 3 cats and one of them was hidden below the steps in the basement. I wasn't sure where she was, and they told me they saw her go in beneath the steps, so I managed to get her & take her upstairs, so she wouldn't be in their way or run out the door scared. All in all, great service from the whole Price team. Will use them every time....excellent staff & very helpful & friendly.
Description of Work: Services performed were: Labor, materials & equipment to replace an existing H.V.A.C. system and install a new Carrier Infinity 95% AFUE gas furnace with Carrier Infinity Control and Carrier Comfort Series 13 SEER R410A air conditioning system. The heating system cost was $4200.00, and the cooling system cost was $2940.00(with furnace). Included with the installation: Removal of all old equipment from the premises, furnace pad, new PVC pipe & flue pipe, sheet metal modifications, new thermostat, reuse existing AC pad & level it, wiring from existing box, condensation removal pump, install a new vent to use fresh air for the heater, install new SSY & fuse, install chimney liner, proper refrigerant recovery, and both techs checked, tested & started up the new units & thermostat. I was given a booklet to show me how to operate the thermostat, and the tech also showed me hands on what to do with it. He also showed me where the filters would go & the size of them & how to replace them. There were no problems at all. Everything went very smooth with the install, and they cleaned up afterward. The only thing I had to do was just a little damp mopping after they left to dispose of light dust. They started the removal & install at 8 a.m. and they were done with everything by 4:30p.m. Great job and love the new furnace & AC!!!!

For the last couple of years we had the furnace installed by him and they did a very nice job installing it. They installed it by not fitting directly on the board and they were very clear about how to take stuff out and didn’t leave the house in a mess. They did a good job cleaning up and being professionals. When we had remodeled our bathroom they really messed up and caused a lot of damage but this guy came and did a good job and he worked stressing out himself. He did work the whole day, and the next day he came out and finished a few things. It wasn’t an unpleasant experience. The price was for furnace, I think it was $6000 range. Overall, they were excellent. With regards to the price it’s incomparable because we had an air conditioner also with that service. With regards to the quality it’s the best service that you can get. I would call him again in March to clean the furnace and get the new filter in it.

I had been planning to call Mike about looking at my two furnaces for some time now, but just never got around to it. Well one evening I was at my fathers condo and I noticed that it was on the cold side, so I went to his utility closet to check the furnace and found it to be flashing an error code as the burner wouldn't stay lit. So, I told my father that I had heard of a local hvac person I had been planning to call to look at my own furnaces, I might as well call him to check yours out also. So the next morning I call Mike around 7 AM and he promptly answered. I explained the situation with my fathers furnace and he seemed to know right away what the problem may be. Mike then asked me if I was a mechanically inclined, because if I was he could save me some money. I said yes I was and then he proceeded to tell me that it sounded like the "flame sensor" was just dirty and needed cleaned. With that, he explained to me how to clean it. I followed his instruction and it worked like a charm! He could have easily done the 5 min. job himself and charged my father a service call, but he said that he didn't like having to charge people for such simple jobs. After we got done talking about my fathers furnace, I told him I'd like to schedule a service call for my own furnaces. He told me that he could come later in the day, so I wouldn't have to leave work to meet him, which was nice. The day of the appointment about a half hour before he was supposed to be at my house, Mike called and said he was sorry, but he was running late on the appointment that was before mine and would it be ok if he came to my house a bit later. I said sure, I had not problem with that, I understand sometimes things happen, I was glad he was courteous enough to call. Actually him being a little behind schedule (and caling me) showed me that he didn't want to rush the job he was working on just to keep the appointment time exactly...I certainly wouldn't want him to rush my job. Anyhow Mike and his son (who was working with him that day) showed up at my house. I showed them to the basement and explained my concerns with my furnaces and as we were speaking Mike noted that the one furnace wasn't working properly so he began looking into it. I left them to their job and went upstairs. A few minutes later Mike came up to get some tools from his van and when he came back in the house he had drop cloths which he placed over the pathyway from the entry door to the basement. He said he didn't want to be tracking across the carpeting with wet work shoes (it was raining) so he was putting them down. I have to say, that is the first time I had a service person or contractor ever take that kind of concern. After Mike and his son (Pat I believe) looked at the furnaces, they asked me to come back down as they wanted to show me something. Well they found that both heat exchangers were cracked, which they let me see and also told me they found a gas leak on the one furnace which they corrected and for some reason the one furnace was getting so hot that the high limit switch was shutting of the burners. They said it could be an air flow problem with my filter or possibly something else. At this point I said I just want to make sure they are safe for the time being as they will need replaced obviously, so they removed the air filter and sped up the blower motor to help keep the furnace limit switch from having to kick in. They also did C02 checks to ensure that things were safe for the time being, oh and they also checked my hot water tank for gas leaks as well and I didn't even ask them to and I certainly appreciated that. After they finished servicing the furnaces we talked about replacement options of which I was given some choices of brands and setups. I asked him to give me a couple quotes with different brand/setup options, which he said that wouldn't be a problem. Once he finished measuring for new furnaces on the inside, he wanted me to show him where I may want to vent the new furnaces outside. After looking outside and getting some ideas, they were about to leave and I asked Mike what I owed him for the service call and work they did. Much to my suprise he said nothing! I said what? I have to pay you for your time and then he said, well let me figure up the quotes for new furnaces and if you decide to go with me, there will be no charge for today and if you decide to go another route then there will be a service call charge. I said really?? That was a first for me, talk about fair, actually I think that goes a bit above fair actually. I will be sure to add another review after I recieve the furnace quotes and especially if they end up doing the job for me. From my experience with Mike Byce heating and cooling I can honestly say that I would gladly recommend them.
