Kyle responded very quickly to my call in Early February for assistance with a basement leak. He went to the house and looked at foundation cracks in the basement. He could have tried to sell me basement waterproofing, but he didn't. Instead, he diagnosed the cause as the front porch concrete slab that was leaning toard the house causing rain runoff to enter the basement. He suggested concrete lifting and gave me some basic info about what it is and how it works. He also suggested moving the downspout that was in the corner where the concrete reached it's lowest point. He said that his company didn't do this work but he referred me to someone else who did. (I called the contractor Kyle recommended, but never heard back from them, so I ended up calling a different contractor who did the work I needed.) Kyle said that we needed to wait until warmer weather before doing the work, which I did. I called him back in early march to say that we should begin having some days with above freezing temperatures and scheduled the job for March 8th. The workers arrived as planned and were there for about 3 hours, most of the time spend setting up the equipment and drilling the holes. I was not home, but called Kyle who provided me with progress reports. When I arrived later that afternoon the work was completed, the site cleaned up, and the workers gone without a trace except for the holes in my front porch step and the caulk they applied. Kyle then called me the next day to be sure I was satisfied with the work. I told him I was except for the caulk being a bit messy, but we agreed it was not a big deal. He charged me exactly what he quoted me $1500 plus the cost of the caulk : $42. The invoice came via e-mail a couple of days later and I paid it. So far, no more water in the basement. Thanks Kyle and coworkers!
Description of Work: K&G drilled 4 holes into the front porch concrete slab into which they pumped concrete grout that lifted the slab about 2 inches and corrected it from leaning into the house. They also applied caulk aroung the horizontal and vertical cracks on the porch slab and patched a concrete crack against the house. The caulking was a bit messy, but it should look better when it dries.

We have a poured foundation, and one of our basement walls had been slowly leaning in over the years. It had gotten to the point where there were a large enough crack at ground level where mice had been getting in. Kyle recommended reinforcing I-beams along the wall and sealing the cracks with epoxy. He estimated the job would take about a day and a half, and he was right on. They scheduled the work so that I would need to take a minimum amount of days off from work, and came in on Saturday to complete the job. The workmen always arrived on time, were respectful of the property, and did an excellent job of cleaning up. The quality of work was excellent. There is a lifetime, transferable warranty against wall collapse.

After three previous estimates, this representative (Kyle) spent the least amount of time at the house inspecting the problem before presenting his solution and price. He walked around the exterior and within 10 minutes was able to give me his quote ($24,000) for foundation stabilization. This company came recommended by a structural engineer whom we had out to our home for an inspection last year. Their solution made a lot of sense, and if the cost had been lower, we would have considered them to do the repair. Maybe for future, smaller projects we would use them.

He estimated $6700 to install 7 steel I beams and a sump pump. He suggested re-drylocking the two walls ourselves. His was the second most expensive quote. We really did not see why we needed a sump pump with only damp walls, and were hesitant of the invasive and unsightly I beams. Bill did not offer the carbon fiber straps. He was, however, very nice and professional. For steel I beams, he probably would have been a good choice. We ending up going with J&D Basement systems getting 8 carbon fiber straps and apoxy on the two walls.
Description of Work: Bill from K&G Contracting was one of three estimates we got for our basement. We had two walls bowing (1.25'' and 1'') and very damp block, drylocked walls. We had no standing water.

Kyle quickly determined that the crack in the cinder block wall, although somewhat ugly, was not a major structural issue. He recommended that we not add any I-beams at this time, unless the wall continues to shift, which it does not seem to be doing. He suggested that we patch it up and keep an eye on it in the future. If it continues to bow inward, then they would be happy to help and offer a quotation for the work.

Very good experience. Came out and met with me in a timely manner, was very personable. Made suggestions to replace gutters and redo paver patio first before digging up basement to do waterproofing. Admitted that they would not be the best company for this job, but were very helpful and professional. Appreciated his honesty and would use them for other home repairs in the future.

Bill (owner) first provided an estimate of $3300 in July '05 for 11 I-beams. I contacted him in February (he even remembered me) and advised that I need ''fortress strips'' in a certain section of the wall. Bill raised the estimate only slightly. Kyle and John (installers) arrived on time each of three days and were great to have around. Very helpful and both answered my many questions fully. When they got to a point that required work beyond the original scope of work, K&G stuck to the original estimate, which I much appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the company to anyone!!
Description of Work: Installation of load-bearing wall supports in basement. K&G installed 9 steel I-beams and 2 ''fortress strips'' on one wall of basement to ensure existing crack and bowing of wall didn't worsen.

GREAT EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND! KYLE WAS THE TEAM LEADER AND WAS PROFESSIONAL, ARTICULATE, INFORMATIVE, KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE TEAM WAS ALWAYS ON TIME AND HELD DAILY BRIEFINGS AND WALK-THROUGHS TO INSURE THAT WE WERE KEPT INFORMED. BILL WAS PATIENT, KNOWLEDGEABLE, PROFESSIONAL, AND FRIENDLY. PATTY WAS EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL, AND FRIENDLY TO TALK WITH. THE ORIGINAL HOME-OWNERS HAD WORK DONE BY K&G IN THE EARLY 1970'S AND K&G FOLLOWED THROUGH ON THAT GUARANTEE WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ABOUT DOING SO. THE WORK WAS DONE CLEANLY, THOROUGHLY, TIMELY AND WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL. WE WOULD HAVE THESE FOLKS BACK IN OUR HOUSE AGAIN, ANYTIME, WITHOUT QUESTION. WISH ALL COMPANIES WERE SO EASY TO DO BUSINESS WITH! ALTHOUGH THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF THE WORK WAS LARGE, WE ARE STILL THRILLED WITH OUR DECISION TO BRING K&G ON BOARD.

THE WORK MEN WERE POLITE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE, THE WORK WAS DONE IN THE TIME THAT WAS ESTIMATED, AND THE CLEAN UP AFTERWARD WAS GOOD. I WOULD HIRE THIS CO AGAIN IF I NEEDED WORK OF THIS KIND. FIRST BECAUSE TIME WAS TAKEN TO DISCOVER THE PROBLEM OF THE CEILING CRACKING, AND SECOND THE WORKMANSHIP WAS GOOD.
Description of Work: FOUNDATION HAD SETTLED, THIS PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. THE LIVING ROOM CEILING HAD TWO AREAS WITH CRACKS. AFTER GOING BACK INTO A CRAWL SPACE UNDER THE LIVING ROOM FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE OWNER OF THE CO FOUND A JOINT OF THE SUPPORT BEAM WAS DEFECTIVE, THUS CAUSING THE CRACKING IN THE CEILING AND A SIDE WALL CLOSE TO THIS JOINT. ANOTHER CO HAD SAID THE CENTER SUPPORT UNDER THE LIVING ROOM WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE CRACKING, HE WANTED $9000.00 TO REPAIR THIS AND THE FOUNDATION. K AND G TOOK THE TIME TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM THAT MADE MORE SENSE THAN THE OTHER CO.

WE WOULD HIRE THEM AGAIN, WITH CONFIDENCE, AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS.
Description of Work: NINE STEEL I-BEAMS WERE INSTALLED ALONG TWO WALLS IN THE BASEMENT, TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND TO PREVENT FURTHER BOWING. THE FLOOR WAS JACK-HAMMERED FOR THE PLACEMENT OF THE BEAMS, AND CONCRETE WAS POURED TO SECURE THEM. WOODEN PLANKS WERE ALSO INSTALLED AT THE TOP OF THE BEAMS, ALONG THE FLOOR BOARDS ADDITIONAL BRACING.

GREAT EXPERIENCE! BILL CAME OUT AND PRESENTED TWO SOLUTIONS THAT MATCHED WHAT THE HOUSE INSPECTOR HAD SUGGESTED. IT WASN'T THE CHEAPEST ESTIMATE WE GOT, BUT HE REALLY MADE ME FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THE JOB WOULD BE DONE CORRECTLY. BILL WAS VERY FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING AROUND THE HVAC GUYS WHO WERE REMOVING THE DUCTS, AND WHEN I CALLED TO ASK IF K & G COULD POSSIBLY COME EARLIER THAN PLANNED BECAUSE WE COULDN'T TURN ON THE HEAT AND THE WEATHER HAD TURNED COLD, HE PROMPTLY SQUEEZED US IN THE NEXT DAY. KYLE AND JOHN WERE ABSOLUTE PROFESSIONALS - CALLED TO SAY THEY WERE ON THE WAY, EXPLAINED WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO, SHOWED THE WORK TO ME AFTERWARDS, AND CLEANED UP THOROUGHLY WHEN FINISHED. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

IT HAS RAINED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE WE HAD THE WORK DONE AND SO FAR THE BASEMENT HAS BEEN ''DRY AS A BONE''. WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH HOW THE WORK WAS DONE...VERY PROFESSIONAL. WORKERS WERE CAREFUL TO MAKE AS LITTLE MESS AS POSSIBLE. THERE WAS GOOD COMMUNICATION FROM K & G AS TO THE STATUS OF THE WORK. WE WERE IMPRESSED THAT BILL EATON EVEN DID A FOLLOW-UP VISIT AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETED TO BE SURE WE UNDERSTOOD WHAT EXACTLY WAS DONE.
Description of Work: WATERPROOFED ONE SIDE OF OUR BASEMENT. WORK INCLUDED DIGGING A TRENCH OUTSIDE THE WALL, (ALONG THE DRIVEWAY), INSERTING A PIPE THAT RAN OUTSIDE TO THE STREET, AND INSTALLING A SUMP PUMP. THEY WERE WILLING TO DIG THE SUMP PUMP UNDER THE STEPS IN THE BASEMENT, WHICH IS VERY CONVENIENT FOR US (BUT WASN'T FOR THEM.)

I CONSIDER THIS COMPANY TO BE VERY HONEST. I HAD THE OWNER OUT IN MY PREVIOUS HOME AND HE WAS THE ONLY ONE OF THREE COMPANIES WHO SAID I DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM (AND I NEVER DID). THE OTHER TWO COMPANIES WERE READY TO DO EXTENSIVE WORK. WHEN I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS IN MY CURRENT HOME, I FELT MOST COMFORTABLE WITH THE INFORMATION I RECEIVED FROM BILL. HE WAS VERY GOOD AT EXPLAINING DIFFERENT OPTIONS AND THE IMPACTS OF DOING OR NOT DOING DIFFERENT THINGS. THE GUYS THAT WERE HERE TO DO THE WORK WERE VERY POLITE AND MADE SURE I WAS INFORMED OF WHAT THEY WERE DOING THROUGH EACH STEP OF THE PROCESS. THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO MINIMIZE THE MESS AND CLEANED UP EVERYTHING BEFORE THEY LEFT. THEY TOOK EXTRA STEPS TO ENSURE MY PROBLEM WAS FIXED, INCLUDING DIGGING AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF MY SUMP PUMP TO MAKE SURE THE LINES WERE OK. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.
Description of Work: THEY CUT AROUND THE INSIDE PERIMETER OF TWO WALLS OF MY BASEMENT AND ADDED MORE HOLES AND REPLACED A DRAIN TILE AND GRAVEL SO WATER COULD GET TO THE SUMP PUMP. THEY ALSO INSTALLED I-BEAMS ALONG THESE TWO WALLS.

I WAS VERY PLEASED, THE WORK WAS COMPLETED IN LESS THAN THE ALLOTTED TIME FRAME (2 1/2 DAYS INSTEAD OF 4) AND THEY CLEANED UP THE BASEMENT AFTER COMPLETION. VERY PLEASED WITH THE LIFETIME TRANSFERABLE WARRANTY ON THE WORK. I WAS REFERRED TO THEM BY THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WHO PERFORMED MY ASSESSMENT. AFTER COMPLETION I DID HAVE A CONCERN IF THEY REALLY RE-INSTALLED THE 4 EXISTING I-BEAMS. BILL CAME OUT TO DO A FOLLOW UP WALK THRU WITH ME AND WE DISCUSSED MY CONCERN AND I WAS GIVEN A DISCOUNT, DUE TO THE LESSER AMOUNT OF MATERIALS AND LABOR NEEDED TO MAKE THESE ADJUSTMENTS.
