RHINOKOTE ASPHALT SEALCOATING

I emailed a request for an estimate and Kirby came out around a week later. He was very informative about the process and the product they use. I very much appreciated that he talked me out of spending more money than I really needed to. My driveway needs replaced in a few years so there was no point in going beyond a topcoat for now. (I was asking about crack sealing and patching, etc.) Another company gave me an estimate for 2 topcoats with extra sand(!?) and said it would be almost $800!!! I trusted Kirby's opinion and had Rhinokote do my driveway job. I'm so glad I did because they came today and my driveway looks AMAZING! The guys were friendly and polite. They did a great job and I will be calling them next year!

Overall the process went smoothly. I was able to reschedule the date with out issue. The work was done promptly and professionally.

The estimator showed up on a Sunday afternoon. I agreed to the price and told him I would call in to schedule the work. He said he would handle putting me on the schedule. He asked if I was home during the day, and I said yes. I told him to call me and let me know when the work would be done. On Monday morning, the doorbell rang. By the time I got to the door, no one was there. A few minutes later, I walked into the backyard and saw that my driveway was being sealed, while my car was still in the garage. The workers said that they had called en route, about 15 minutes earlier. I had happened to be in the shower and missed the call. They left a message, but I did not get downstairs to see it in time. I called the company immediately to express my displeasure but never received a courtesy call back. My car was stuck in the garage for two days.

The company's response was splendid. I had left a message with their answering service, and Rhinokote called back within a half hour--and said they would like to begin the work the following morning. They arrived by 9:30AM, cut and removed the old asphalt, tamped down the exposed dirt with a machine, and then poured in the new material. The work was carefully and expertly done, the two-man crew friendly, and very informative, and explained every procedure. Their work caught the eye of a few neighbors, and as a result a company representative appeared. My neighbor next door had a similar problem with deteriorated asphalt, and engaged Rhinokote to repair and seal his driveway too. Meanwhile three other neighbors engaged Rhinokote on sealing and patching jobs on my street. My neighbor next door was as impressed and satisfied with Rhinokote's work as I was. (A second crew, with separate truck and trailer equipment showed up to do the sealing.) In all Rhinokote spent some three days of careful work in my neighborhood.

I received a call from Rhinokote requesting me to schedule having my driveway sealed. I spoke in depth with the representative about the many cracks in my driveway. I was told they had 2 processes to patch the cracks one of which was $79 and the other was included with the sealcoating. When I came home after they did the sealcoating I noticed the cracks had not been patched. I called the company and was told they only repair cracks if you pay the $79 and they had no other process. My call was never returned when I requested a call back from the person in charge of the sealcoating. If I had been told they did not patch the cracks I would have never scheduled with them considering I have so many in my driveway. Also, they did not do the job the day they had originally scheduled me - this was not a weather related delay.

Scheduling the work was difficult, because they couldn't give us a specific time, it rained one day, and they had mechanical difficulties with their trucks another day. On the third rescheduled day, they called to reschedule again or to send the owner himself at the end of the day. We chose to have the owner come after their normal hours, they did the sealcoating at approximately 8 pm. Did an excellent job, and I don't feel like they cut any corners even though it was late on a hot summer's day when I'm sure they would rather have gone home.

They were prompt, they did the job neatly, and they seemed very honest.

I realize people are busy this time of year, but called twice and was told someone would be out. No one ever showed up. No one called. Not acceptable. Unprofessional.

Kirby tries to schedule residential jobs in clusters which makes perfect sense to me. I called them 2 months ago and asked them to fit me in when they were in the area. I think they forgot me. However, when I called for a follow-up, they were out within 72 hrs. They did a good job and I would use them again.

It rained the day they did the work, and now there is black powder all over my driveway. The guy dismissed our concerns about the work. He did not want to address any of them. The man was pretty rude when he was here. He called me at 6am to tell me they would be here at 7, and they never called or showed. We had to call them to figure out what was going on.

Very prompt. Vert good at follow-up from initial call. Price was very competitive.

THE REASON FOR THE "B" ON QUALITY IS BECAUSE WE THINK THE DRIVEWAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANED A LITTLE MORE THOROUGHLY IN ORDER FOR THE SEAL TO ADHERE BETTER.

CALLED, AND LEFT MESSAGES ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY CALL BACKS YET. I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY IN THE PAST, AND WAS PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. I GAVE THE COMPANY AN OVERALL GRADE OF 'D' DUE TO THE PREVIOUS GOOD WORK THEY PROVIDED.

IT DID TAKE 3 TRIES TO GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE, AND IT TOOK A WHILE TO GET THEM OUT TO THE HOUSE. I NEVER MADE AN ACTUAL APPOINTMENT, THEY JUST SHOWED UP ONE DAY. THEY WERE HONEST ENOUGH TO TELL ME THAT I WAS BETTER OFF USING A REPLACEMENT COMPANY, AS OPPOSED TO REPAIRING IT.

MY EXPERIENCE AT FIRST WAS NOT VERY GOOD. I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT THEN IT GOT RESCHEDULED 4 TIMES. DUE TO SITUATIONS, I DECIDED TO TRY A DIFFERENT COMPANY AND CANCELED THE SERVICE WITH RHINOKOTE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM KIRBY MORRIS AND HE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION AS TO ALL THE RESCHEDULES. I WAS A RETAIL MANAGER FOR 25 YEARS AND HE DID WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE IN THAT SITUATION AND DID THE JOB AT ZERO COST. THAT RESTORED MY CONFIDENCE IN THE WAY HE RUNS HIS BUSINESS. IN FACT, HE DID MY NEIGHBORS THE SAME DAY AND I HOPE OTHERS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE BALL WAS DROPPED BUT KIRBY PICKED IT UP AND SCORED WITH ME. I FEEL THEY DID A GREAT JOB MY DRIVEWAY LOOKS GREAT. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN PROMISED. OTTO, WHO PERFORMED THE WORK, WAS FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL AND HARD-WORKING. HE DID A GREAT JOB, CLEANED UP AND WENT ON TO HIS NEXT JOB. IN ADDITION, KIRBY ALWAYS RETURNS CALLS, WHICH REALLY MEANS A LOT, ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS THEIR BUSIEST TIME.

OTIS TOOK PARTICULAR PRIDE IN HIS WORK AND DID A GREAT JOB.

THE SEALCOATING JOB WAS OK BUT THE INITIAL PATCH WORK AND CRACK FILLING THEY DID WAS POOR QUALITY AND SOME OF THE MATERIAL SOFTENED IN THE SUMMER AND PULLED UP ON THE CAR TIRES. THERE ARE BARE SPOTS AND EVEN TIRE MARKS ON THE DRIVEWAY NOW. I HAVE CALLED THE COMPANY ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAY THEY WILL SEND SOMEONE OUT TO LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE CALLED TWICE AND EACH TIME THEY SAID SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT AND LOOK AT IT AND CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS, BUT I HAVE STILL NOT HEARD FROM COMPANY.

WHY WOULDNT YOU RETURN A SIMPLE PHONE CALL? IF THEY DIDNT WANT TO DO THE WORK, THEY DIDNT HAVE TO ACCEPT THE JOB.

ORIGINAL WORK WAS WASHED OUT BY HEAVY RAINS. DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED BY ADJACENT SIDEWALK, FLOWERBEDS, GARAGE DOORS. DIFFICULT TO GET CALLS PAST RECORDER. COMPANY DID FINALLY REDO THE SEALCOATING. OTHER DAMAGE WAS NOT ADDRESSED SATISFACTORILY.

FOUND THEM TO BE AN EXCELLENT COMPANY. VERY NEAT JOB, VERY PLEASED.
