New Buck Chimney Sweeps

Made an appointment to have my chimney cleaned and was given a 4 hour window. After 4 hours, I called to see if they were running late. I waited another 2 hours and left another voicemail. I let them know I delayed my out of town travel by 2 days so I could keep this appointment and asked them to call me back. After a full week, never received a phone call to apologize or attempt to reschedule. New Buck was sold a couple years ago and the new owners are totally disrespectful of your time. I like to support small businesses, but I'm done with New Buck.

I had a 12-4 window yesterday for an estimate and they didn't show up or call.

They did not show up. Used this company for years with great service. New ownership is bad. No show and very good at blaming others for their incompetence.

New Buck under the old management came out in the Fall and inspected my chimney and advise me to call them in the Spring to seal the exterior brick chimney and do minor repair work. I called in the Spring and spoke to the new owner. We made an appointment for the upcoming Saturday and he was a no show. I called at the beginning of the following week and spoke with him again about the missed appointment. He didn't apologize for the no show and he indicated that he gave the job to his worker to do. He would followup with him, have the worker come out within a couple of days and the owner would call me back with the day and time for service. After several days, I called the owner again and left a voicemail. I indicated that I didn't receive a followup call and the work has not been done. I advised him that I have used the company before and I have been satisfied but I am disappointed with his company's service and will look elsewhere for service.

A good company gone bad? Had good service from them since 2013, but this year……. Had a sweep scheduled for May 11 between 12:00 and 4:00. Sweep did not show up and no call from the office. I called at 4:10, got a recording and left a message. Called again at 4:40 and left a message and again at 5:00. Late morning May 12 I got a call (from Ed, I believe) saying the sweep had an accident and “the paperwork was on the truck” – you’d think they’d have a copy and could have called to reschedule, but OK I accepted that at this point. Ed said he’d try to find someone to come that day and let me know. Did not hear back from Ed. In the afternoon Mike showed up unexpectedly. Unfortunately, he did not have a ladder long enough and just took a quick look. Mike seemed very knowledgeable and noted a down draft issue which he offered some good advice for. Said he’d come back May 13 and do the sweep. Well, May 13 and May 14 came and went and no Mike, no phone call, no nothing. I called them the morning of May 15 and as usual, no answer – left another message. Now it’s the end of the day May 19 and still no word from them and they have lost me as a customer. Not sure what’s going on, but I read somewhere that maybe the management had changed? Also when I scheduled the sweep, I mildly protested the $20 price increase on top of a $10 increase the prior year. She said she didn’t know anything about that as she’d only been there 2 weeks.

They were extremely rude (the old guy), acted like it was MY fault because their scheduler did not relay the correct info about the job and the guys sent couldn't estimate masonry work, never followed through and actually gave me a quote, never heard from them again. This was approximately a $6,000 job that they walked away from not something like a simple chimney sweep. Horrible experience just like many other reviews.

The estimate for the repairs went fine. The job needed to be completed on a different day due to the anticipated rain. Everything was professionally handled and the chimneys look great. Mike, who completed the work was very professional and punctual. I would look to hire them again in the future.

New Buck is a great company! They were on time, honest, and answered all of my questions-- even through FaceTime! We were swindled last year into thinking another company cleaned our fireplace correctly. When we told New Buck we couldn't get rid of the acrid creosote smell, they went right to work and began the job. They cleaned out the equivalent of two cords of creosote from our chimney!! We use it on the weekends so we clearly didn't get an actual clean from the other company last year. I will be using them every single year!

Scheduling was easy. They were punctual and knowledgeable. Wish they did repairs, but they did refer me to someone else.

I sent a quote request through Angie's List and never heard back from them.

Annual wood stove lining sweep. They call a half hour ahead to let you know they are on the way. Very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. Put down drop cloth and cleaned up when done. Have used before for sweeps, crown seal, cap install -- good people, will use again.

Excellent!!! Ed and Mike were both professional, knowledgeable, and had the job done quickly. The area was cleaner after they were done than when they started. It is difficult to imagine a better company and two representatives of the company than Ed and Mike! I would strongly recommend this company for any wood fireplace or chimney repair work!

There was a real big problem with their office. I had to make like three or four calls til they finally called back. If somebody had recommended them. The guy who came out was excellent. He was right here on time and everything. It was just the office problem. He was here about an hour.

Three years ago, New Buck applied a crown seal to my cracked concrete crown -- it had a 15 year warranty. Recently, a piece fell off. I called them and they said they were having problems with that product and no longer use it. They came out, removed the old seal and installed a new seal -- true to their warranty, it was at no charge and with no hassle. And, the new seal has a 20 year warranty.

Keith was punctual and went right to work. He was pleasant to work with for both the estimate and actual labor.

He arrived on time, cleaned out the chimney and cleaned up carefully when he finished. He inspected the chimney and explained in detail things we needed to know about our chimney

The fireplace places look fabulous! We are very very pleased with result.

The installers did a great job. We had a snow/ice storm hit the day of the install and they stuck through it and managed to get everything installed. They encountered some challenges due to how the original chimney had been built which required opening up the side wall, but they came back a week later and fixed it like new. I will certainly use New Buck again for the basement stove when I get ready for that project.

The results as a homeowner were disappointing as they found the fireplaces were damaged and should not be used. But the service was professional and they performed everything they came to do with clear expertise. I especially appreciated the discussion of alternatives to completely rebuilding the chimneys, like using a fireplace insert. I plan to order one and I will definitely use these guys to install it!

They were willing to work with me on financing. We had already scheduled the work but I was helping someone out with some things and wouldn't be able to pay by the time the work would start. They suggested to keep the appointment and would wait to charge for the work on the next billing cycle. I very much appreciated that. I really appreciated that they sent us a "Thank You" letter. I felt like that was a nice touch. My apologies for waiting so long to leave a review. We really did have a great experience.

this was a very professional team of two men. They did a very good job of prep which included laying protection on carpets, keeping feet covered every time they came into house, removing carefully items to get to window and replacing when job was finished. They cleaned chimney took pictures for crackes etc.cleaned fireplace and my doors on Fireplace sparkled. I highly recommend this company.

We have used them in the past for chimney repair and chimney sweep and have been very happy with them. This time the women I scheduled the appointment with was rude and unpleasant. The man who came to look at our problem was unfriendly and not very informative. He said he would give us a quote to fix our cap that rattles in the wind and we never heard from them. Very disappointed since we had such good prior experiences and now I still have a cap that rattles!

They were extremely responsive when notified. They were courteous and made the repairs in a timely fashion. We were very pleased with their service and final workmanship.
