We sold a house in Columbus. We ended up paying the loan fees for the people that bought our house, and Antonio D'Alberto never told us we were paying them. I didn't find out until I signed the papers. I didn't really understand what I was signing, and he didn't tell me. So, after the fact, when I asked him why he did that - because I had told him bottom line what I wanted to get out of the house, we got that, we paid his commission on it, but we paid $4,000 loan fee for them. When I asked him, he said, to sweeten the deal. I thought the deal was already pretty sweet. I would not recommend him to anyone. There were things he did that were great: he did a walkthrough video and posted that on the internet, which got a lot of people interested because they could just go on the internet and not waste anybody's time. But the bottom line is, I don't know why he did that with the loan fees. If he had a relationship with the other realtors? There is a number of things he did that really ripped us off. He said, someday he hopes this will be a happy experience, and I told him This never will be. Because I feel like I got ripped off. We were supposed to meet for closing and he was late showing up. In fact, I was sitting in a driveway for probably an hour and a half waiting for him. I was so angry at that time that I told him "Well, your rating just went down to a C". Something else wasn't right so I told him he was down to a D. Before closing, the people wanted to move in to the house - we hadn't even closed! Which means if they broke something or got injured in the house we would be responsible. He really kept pushing for me to let them move in before we even closed on the house. He originally told me closing was waiting on them selling their house - turns out they didn't have a house to sell! He wasn't really very honest. So there was a whole bunch of stuff I try not to think about because then I get riled up again. He did other stuff too: he talked us in to reducing the price by $2000. He wanted us to bring $2000 to the closing for the people so that the price would still be $125,000. That way it would still look like we were selling it for $125,000. I looked at that and thought, I'm not stupid! That means I would still be paying him commission on $125,000! I am paying capital gains on $125,000. That definitely wasn't looking out for our best interests. he was not on our side. The people originally offered the full asking price, and then they had the house inspected and they wanted us to take $5,000 off. So he was pushing us to reduce the price, which is why I reduced it by $2,000, and after that I said Look, that is as low as I'm going. After that I'm pulling it off the market, I'm going to fix those things, and I'm going to jack the price up by $10,000. So take it or leave it. As my realtor he should have been working with me. Instead he was working more for the buyer than he was working for me. Of course when they inspect it they are going to find little bits and pieces, they always do, and the people are going to try to get the price to come down. After the fact, too, I found that they had been pre-approved for a loan for $300,000 and that pissed me off too. Because that is why they gave us the original asking price of $125,000. They more than could afford it. And then we end up paying for their loan, we ended up reducing the price. He had to know that too, so I think, I don't know if their realtor was a friend of his or what, and I'll never be able to prove that, but that was my feel on it. He was working more for the buyer than he was for us.
