Walker Tile

When Steve Walker showed up to quote the job he was very competitive on pricing. I had a small bathroom in a condo which I was looking to have the shower tile pulled out, along with the floor tile in the bathroom and replaced, to include the shower door kit of a simple alcove shower. Steve also quoted replacing the tile on the front of my fireplace in the living room. The quote as mentioned was competitive and prompt, on the spot actually. I purchased all of the materials, in excess of $2,000. Steve quoted labor only for the work. Steve and an associate showed up to do the work the first day on time, they demo'd the tile in the bathroom and from the fireplace, everything looked good after the first day. Early on Steve provided me with a list of materials which I purchased at Menards for the remodel. To make a long story short after installation of all the new tile, all of the grout in the shower and on the front of the fireplace cracked, I had to call Steve back out to come and repair the cracks. Steve came back out and basically filled the cracks, only to have them shower crack again in the corners and at all stress points in the alcove shower. He mentioned I hadn't purchased the optimal concrete backer-board for the shower, however he neglected to mention this prior to using it in my shower. I could have easily made that call and had the appropriate type delivered. Tile cut into the corners on the floor tile in the bathroom weren't cut straight with a wet-saw, the lines are jagged and show to this day on the floor, some baseboard was left leaning against the wall while other baseboards were "liquid nailed" off color into place. Steve quit returning my calls after the first crack repair and left me to fix it on my own. I haven't worked with a less professional person in my lifetime. Beware, you get what you pay for & I'll only learn this lesson once!
