Mid-Valley Chimney Repair & Sweep

Our chimney had been seriously eroding for several years and when the rain/critter shield finally blew off we decided it was time to get the work done. I researched companies via Angie's List. Mid-Valley was my first choice based on the glowing reviews and the offer of the free estimate. Matt Simpson, the owner, came to the house after we had to reschedule a couple times due to weather. He took pictures of what we couldn't see from ground level and wrote up an extensive, detailed quote. There was no hard sell or pressure; Matt was friendly and professional. The price felt right--and included a ten-year warranty on the masonry. We agreed to have Mid-Valley do the work. I cannot imagine more superb service. We were given an exact lead time--dependent on the weather, of course. Matt did an excellent job searching out a match for thirty-year old brick, and checked it out with us before work began. They took immense care setting up the scaffolding amid some dense landscaping; the same care was taken with our lawn. Day one was all demo. Every scrap of debris was hauled away. On the second day, the masons arrived early and stayed until nearly dark rebuilding the chimney and doing some tuck pointing repair. Again the work site was left spotless. Finally, on the third day, Matt came out to oversee the final clean up while the flashing was being installed. We were lucky to have had three straight days of good weather. After the mortar has a few days to cure, they will be back to weather seal the entire chimney. The demo, mason, and finishing crews were all polite, professional, and extremely hard working. I don't think I saw anyone take a break during the entire process. This isn't the kind of work done often, but should any other chimney/fireplace repairs become necessary Mid-Valley Chimney Repair will be my first call.

Well in the beginning it went really well. My whole complaint is the problem resolution, or rather his inability to finally resolve the problem. There were many steps involved. When I first reported water leaking in February of 2011, he came out and checked it out and said he couldn't see anything wrong. In times of rain, my chimney is leaking and this was not a problem before having any work done to my chimney. They might have added some caulking around the liner where it meets the crown seal, I am not sure. They had two to three trips out here. I had a couple cleaning in between. The last guy that came out from the same company said to me "whoever put that crown seal on did it incorrectly" and it had only been a week since the work had been done. The guy who came out took pictures and showed Matt Simpson(owner and person who originally did the work). Matt Simpson said, "We will put a new crown seal on it for you," which makes no sense because he had told me from the beginning that it did not need to be replaced. When he sold me the crown seal, he said any cracking I would have in the crown, that this will take care of it. Jeff came out and replaced the crown seal again, I would have thought if it was bad, they would have told me then. Matt Simpson only told me after he was totally frustrated, and he blew up and got very angry telling me, "that crown needs to be replaced" only two weeks after work had originally been done, so there's no way it could have cracked in 2 weeks. I called him because I was having leaking from the water. He said to me, that in order to get it resolved, he'd charge me $900 for a new crown and re-coat the outside of my chimney for waterproofing and normally he charges $300 for the scaffolding (that he'd do for free) plus any other cost involved with any other work that needs to be done up there. Comments were made to me by the owner and his workers that my chimney was fine and the brick was fine. I never called back because they told me it was fine. The gentlemen who was capping my gutters, checked it out because he does crown work as well and he said he'd price the work at $200-300 and he though the chimney cap is too small. I questioned Matt Simpson about the size of the chimney cap, he got defensive and said he only puts on the best materials. He tried to come across like he was cutting me a deal, but I felt ripped off.

I contacted Mid-Valley Chimney after I had dealt with a different company that was very money hungry and rude. Yet I was very impressed right from the start of contacting Mid-Valley. Unfortunately the weather did not want to cooperate with us setting up a date to get the work done. However once the weather was decent enough for Matthew to come up, he showed up on time and was very courteous and professional. I am very impressed with the work that they did. I will for sure use Mid-Valley again and recommend them to anyone else looking for chimney work.

Mid-Valley Chimney repair was great! Matt came out February 7th, 2013 and inspected my chimney. He made an estimate and scheduled an appointment for February 15th, 2013 to perform the repairs. He was very friendly, professional, punctual and explained the process while answering my questions. Matt was very thorough and checked to make sure the stove wasn't smoking in the house, like it had been doing when he came to inspect it. I thought the price was acceptable for the work performed, and he didn't charge me for the initial inspection. I highly recommend Mid-Valley Chimney Repair for your chimney needs! I will definitely use them again in the future!

They were very prompt and did excellent service. It was a special order chimney cap. They came today and did not charge me anything to look and make sure that the problem with the pilot light coming on was because of the heater and not the chimney. They did not charge us for the patchwork they did, which was really, really nice. They have reasonable rates. They are friendly. We have another chimney that needs a lot of work and we probably will use them again.

Mathew, the owner came with another employee. They were professional and competent. They were polite and cleaned up well. I felt he was honest with me. They cleaned the chimney.

When I called to inquire about thier services and to schedule an appt, I recvd voicemail message. I was contacted within an hour. Matt was very professional and very accomodating. Scheduled the appt. He and his associate arrived on time both dates. My husband had to leave the home before they arrived on the date the chimney repair/sealing was to take place. They performed the work and contacted us to let us know it had been done. They could have left since we were not there to pay them, but they did not. I contacted Matt afterwards to let him know I would be sending the payment along with a coupon from Angie's List. Matt is very easy to work with and is very customer-service oriented.

Matt was right on time, very thorough, very knowledgeable, and polite. He knew exactly what to do and took his time to do it right. He explained everything as he was doing it and offered several ways to fix the problem. I highly recommend him for chimney cleaning and chimney repair.

Matt came right on time (10 minutes early!) and did a fantastic job cleaning my chimney. He was very professional and personable. Highly, highly recommend! He gave me an estimate to have my crown repaired ($450) that I will take care of in the summer .We also discussed the possibility of converting my woodburning stove into gas - he had brochures and estimates for that as well.

We discovered water was leaking in the chimney. Matt (the owner) came out the same day I called, reviewed the damage & provided a quote. Work was completed within a week and was flawless.

They were very easy to work with and the work they did was in line with my expectations. They showed up on time, the work was completed in a timely manner, they were very accommodating of our requests, and answered all of our question. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

They were extremely responsive, completed the work in a timely fashion, and did a good job of protecting landscaping and hardscaping. The also cleaned up after themselves well, although they forgot to restore a rock edge around a garden bed that they had removed to get their equipment in place. But that is a very minor quibble.

It was excellent. They had to rent a lift because the house is three stories high with a slate roof. It was a complicated job but they did great work. I would recommend them to anyone and use them again in a heart beat. They were respectful, delight and thorough.

Matt Simpson was able to come out and give me an estimate the day after I called him.Because of a cancellation he was able to start work the day after he gave me the estimate.Since I already had enough matching bricks, he was able to give me a very fair estimate since he did not have to spend time hunting for bricks or waiting for delivery.The work was done very well and in a relatively short time (< 2 days for teardown, rebuild, and cleanup).The site was kept clean during the whole job. The rebuilt chimney was thoroughly cleaned after it was finished and care was taken to make sure the roof, gutters, and proximity grounds were cleaned before they left.This is a very professional organization in all respects. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They showed up to begin when they said they would, worked quickly and with minimal disruption to us (some noise and dust, as expected). Actual construction was completed in one day. They came back on the next day to clean the bricks and remove the form used to build the cap, then returned again on the third day to seal the bricks. The completed product looks better than new as they built a better cap than the original chimney had.Overall, they did a very professional job.

I scheduled the work to be done on the 26th. They called me to let me know that they had a cancelation and could get the work done on the 13th. The workers that came worked hard from 9:15 to 2:30 and had the whole job done. They didn't make a mess and cleaned up before leaving.

Their work looks nice. They matched the used bricks on our house pretty well. They started on the day they said they would and had it finished just like they said they would. Cleaned up their work and were professionals. I had a question about a dent in our gutter and he addressed it quickly, courteously and professionally.

The technician arrived and completed the cleaning in a professional and efficient manner. He left the fireplace cleaner than when he arrived. He also suggested some maintenance items with no pressure and he gave an approximate time frame when they should be completed.
