Elam & Son's were actually recommended to me by another Piano Moving company in the Cincinnati area that came out to my home but were ultimately unable to help me! I needed help moving the a 500+lb Stairmaster machine up a flight of stairs into my second story condo. The machine was extremely bulky and awkwardly shaped, making it very difficult to move/lift even with tools (so much so that the first company I tried before E&S came and left!). But Elam & Son's were able to squeeze me in within a couple of days of my call, they were reasonably priced (I know because I got a couple other quotes from other piano/organ moving companies before my appointment and E&S's pricing was better), and they were able to get the machine where it needed to be in my home within an hour! I was nervous at first because only three men showed up with straps and some tools (same as the first company that came & left), so I didn't know if they'd be able to help me either. But these guys were SO great! They had to remove two of my doors and part of the Stairmaster machine itself to fit it in my guest room without any damage, but they put everything nicely back together and now I can use the machine in my home! Not sure if these guys are part hulk/superhero or something, but they're seriously impressive! Lol. Very grateful to them--highly recommend! :)

Needed to have heavy hospital bed moved from one bedroom to another. When I called Shawn said they’d move it the next Mon afternoon. I told him I’d need copy of Workers Comp and insurance coverage. Later he called back saying they’d do the move later in the week and he’d call me when he knew when it would be. He never called back. I had another company do the move. (Does Elam & Sons really have Workers Comp and insurance coverage?)
Description of Work: Never called back after I asked for proof of insurance.

Seriously, not well. They moved the piano out of my husband's office and drove it to our home. With the piano still in the truck, they came inside the house, checked the height all the way up the stairs, etc. Said everything was great. Got the piano in the front door, along the hallway, and up the bottom two steps. Then they couldn't make the turn on the first landing to go up the rest of the stairs. They actually asked if they could remove the banister because it was in the way! Um, no. So after getting it wedged in there as much as possible, they declared it was impossible and they would have to return the piano its original location (my husband's office).... but charged me $300 anyway. I argued that I had given them all the details on the phone before booking the piano move - including the dimensions of the piano, which is quite large - and if they couldn't be bothered to walk through beforehand, then it shouldn't cost me because they can't get the job done. This didn't do me any good, though, and I eventually ended up paying them. I definitely do not recommend them to move any piano.
Description of Work: We hired them to move a piano from my husband's office (where we were storing it) to our home. I spoke to the movers on the phone at length to explain that the piano is a "cabinet grand" from about 1915 - meaning it is an upright, but quite tall and wide - and that we live on the second floor of a two-family home. The stairs are wide, but there are two turns in them. They assured me it would be fine. Long story short, it didn't fit, and they had to return the piano to my husband's office... and charged me $300 for the inconvenience.

What a great bunch of movers! These are the hardest working guys ever! Definitely NOT prima donnas! They effortlessly moved our baby grand piano from a second floor loft to the new house. They took extra precautions to carefully handle our furniture and were just delightful guys to deal with! We had more furniture and "stuff" packed away than we realized, so they just got another truck to handle it. They moved just about anything we needed them to and were just so accommodating. I would definitely recommend them. They were also incredibly cool about re-situating furniture once we got to the new place.

They did a great job overall, and was a great value for the money. I would give them an "A-" only because we had one ding with a corner of drywall nicked moving a mattress up a set of stairs. They called an hour before arriving for directions, were courteous and professional, and worked hard the entire 6.5 hours.

EXCELLENT. The price was by the hour. They had 3 men arrive on time. They were able to pack the truck with all the furniture and had room left over.....so, I asked if I could include more items. They were great - just kept loading the truck. Once we arrived at the condo they unloaded and set up all the furniture. Not a scratch!

Description of Work: The best movers I have ever used. They are hard working and very careful. They moved my 4 bedroom house and they did not damage anything--not even a scratch! They are also expert piano movers and did a great job with my antique baby grand. Should I have moving needs in the future I will use them again.

Elam & Sons were more than happy to move it for a very reasonable rate. They even got it into the backroom without damaging either the house or the piano. I am definitely calling them again if I move to move the piano with us.

House sits on a hill and has about 25 stairs to the front door. The piano was on the second floor of the house. Three movers came to take the piano out of the house. They were courteous, very professional and extremely careful in moving the 500 lb piano out of the second floor, down the carpeted stairs and out and down the 25 stairs to the street level. The piano had to be tilted on it's end to get down the narrow stairs. Not a scratch on the piano or walls. All the men were extremely knowledgeable in the correct method of moving a piano. Would definitely use them again or gladly recommend them to others

To move my grand piano to our new home I used Elam. They did such a good job, I also used them 2 weeks later to move all my items to the new home. The great thing is they are very good and they did not nick any walls and put down lots of safety items and covers for my items, they apparently have contracts with Piano companies and home shows to do all their moves, so they are well respected/trusted. On the down side since they have contracts they give them higher priority. They called me the day before the move and pushed the time back and eventually called to change the day, the day before! We were flexible so we were able to change the date, because I tried to find a different moving within a day and that was impossible.
Description of Work: Moved piano, week later called them to also move my home.

AT AROUND 8:00 A.M. ON DAY OF MOVE, THE ACTUAL MAN ASSIGNED TO MY JOB CALLED AND SAID THEY WOULD BE 'AT LEAST' AN HOUR LATE. I CALLED THE OFFICE AND EXPLAINED THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AS WE HAD TO RETURN THE MOVING TRUCK AND THE PERSON HELPING ME HAD TO CATCH A FLIGHT. I ASKED FOR A DISCOUNT FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THE GUY SAID, "WELL THEN THE HELL WITH IT. GET SOMEBODY ELSE TO MOVE IT BUDDY." AND EVENTUALLY HUNG UP ON ME. I ENDED UP HAVING TO FIND ANOTHER MOVING COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY.
Description of Work: I SET AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM TO MOVE A PIANO FROM A MOVING TRUCK INTO MY HOME AT 9:00 A.M. ON DEC. 1ST.
