Lowe's Air Duct Cleaning

My home is currently under rehab, so the representative from Lowe's ductwork assumed I was a contractor. He told me I needed to move my truck, so he could bring his equipment in. It caught me off guard, but I figured he had a good reason, It wasn't until sometime later after I moved my truck and began asking questions about how he was going to conduct the work that he realized I was the home owner. He admitted that if he had known I was the owner and not a contractor he wouldn't have made the request. As someone who has worked in the contracting business, seeing how contractors treat other trades is a good indication of how they treat their work: with respect or without concern for the end user/owner. He spent entirely too much time critiquing the work I was performing: framing, HVAC demo, and insulation replacement. I would estimate the work could have been done in half the time. I also was never told holes would be cut in my ductwork, nor was the method of 'patching' them discussed. The damage was done by the time I saw the hole and I have a mechanical contractor coming to correct the patch. As noted above, I would not use them again.

Alex ( I think that is his name) did far beyond what he was supposed to. This is the company people should call.

Provider showed up promptly, was professional, quick, friendly, did a great job, cleaned up after himself, and upon request, made some other suggestions for things we could do.

As they started I explained that our filter was due to be changed and asked if I should go ahead and do it. They said no without looking at the filter. As a result of all the blowing of who knows how many years of dust and nastiness down the vents the filter (which it turns out was in backwards) was clogged and dust got into the furnace motor. This could have been avoided if they had done as I suggested and changed the filter at the beginning. They then charged us $75 extra to clean out the furnace - telling me it was a fire hazard. I was very unsatisfied with their job and felt like they almost did more harm than good.

It was pretty good. They up-sold two other things. They didn't clean up at all but they did sweep by the furnace. Two technicians came out.

The contracotr(Nick) showed up ontime with a van that the company name and phone number was scratched off. He introduced himself. I let him in starting from the basement showing him the furnace and all the vents and returns.after he attached his vacumm to a hole he created in the return duct he started from upstairs returns. The technician used my paper towls to cover the main floor return while he went upstairs and statred sending his spinning brush in the duct. I guess he did what was suppose to be done on the returns, BUT when he started to do the vents, I noticed he did not cover the vents to maximize the efiiciency of the vacumm power in the vent he was working in. I actually felt none to very small amount of suction from the vents when the vacum was running. On each vent he sparayed the sanitizer accompanied with his compressed air to get the chemicals down, but when it was time to send the brush down the vents, he did it for may be 7-10 ft at the time and did it so quick that I was thinking, how could that clean the ducts efficiently!?? I asked the technician, how far does he send the brush in, and he replied up to the main duct!!!!! This by no means was true!!! the vents on the opposite side of the house from the main duct were at least 20-25 feet away and I'm certain the brush did not even touch half of the ducts. Then when he was doing the middle floor and the sun was shining in the right angle, I observed hugh amount of duct getting blown back in the air and sitting all over my furnature. Overall, the job was not done correctly and a lousy cleaning was performed that you normally get from one of the $99 ads you see all the time. This service does not deserve Angie's "A" listed service.

Excellent experience overall and money well-spent. My ducts hadn't been cleaned in 20+ years (that's correct!) and there was visual evidence that lots of matter was removed from the ducts. The provider showed up early, completed the work in just over an hour and answered all my questions. I also felt that the price was reasonable. Highly recommend!

The process went extremely well. The technician (Bruno) was very professional and pleasant. He explained everything that he was doing and why it was important as he we through the process. He did an outstanding job of getting a "very difficult" dryer duct clean and operating perfectly. Called ahead and arrived on time. We will use Lowe's again.

They were great. We had never done it before, so it took a little longer than usual – perhaps 4 hours. The company sent 1 technician.

I had purchased a big deal. It seems to me that they are not really a company, they are not professional, and it seems to me like the guy works on his own. I was really not impressed with the service. I thought I was hiring a real company. He came on time. He charged me more for other services. He asked me if I had other work to be done, and I said yes because he was there, and he charged me more. I don't think they are insured, or bonded, it did not seem as though it was a company. He came with slippers on, he did not even have shoes. I was really upset. He did not look professional, and it seemed to me like I was hiring someone from the streets to come and do the work.

Tech was pleasant, professional and thorough. Additional work was suggested with an explanation of the benefit. No up-sell pressure. He even took the time to do some minor repairs as a courtesy.

Nick arrived on time and checked out all the vents and furnaces in the house. He then explained to me what he was going to do to clean the vents. He brought in his equipment and began upstairs to clean all vents individually. He used a twirling wand to probe down each vent to loosen dirt and dust while his vacuum machine was hooked up to my system's air handler and vacuumed all of the loose material into the canister. He repeated this procedure for the downstairs area. Nick replaced one of my filters downstairs. Nick sold me the sanitation option for an additional fee. The work was done quickly and neatly.

We were very pleased with the service provided by Lowe's. We were contacted as soon as we submitted our request for sevice. Due to inclement weather in our area, we had to reschedule, but we were given our choice of dates/times. The scheduler made sure we had the name and cell number of the technician scheduled to do the work. On the day of service, the technician contacted us when he was 20 minutes away to let us know that he was enroute. He arrived promptly, looked at the least cumbersome way to bring the necessary equipment into our home, and explained fully what he was going to do and how long it would take him. Once he had everything in place, he was here only an hour and a half. The technician was very professional, accommodating, and polite. He explained everything that needed to be done, he provided additional information on ways to prevent future buildups in our vents based on our lifestyle, and gave guidance on when we should schedule our next service. He was very conscientious as he went from room to room, and he made sure each room was left just as he found it. We were very impressed with this technician. We will definitely use Angie's list and Lowe's Air Duct cleaning in the future.

We called one time to the company and they quickly returned the call and scheduled the service within a couple of days. They were punctual, clean and performed the service quickly.
