Lowe's Air Duct Cleaning

They didn't prepare for the service, and in fact they offered to do a partial job but when we pressed them that we would want a partial refund for partial work they then admitted that they shouldn't do the job at all. The person at our house who would have provided the service was professional, but the company did a very poor job.

Lowe's came out and did a great job of cleaning our duct work. However, the workman broke couple of wires in our furnace while he was working and so our furnace wouldn't turn on again. We had to call the heating company that we use to come out and repair the furnace. Lowe's was extremely polite about the problem, was very kind in dealing with us and paid for the entire repair bill. They dealt with us in a very professional way.

We moved into our home in early February, and found that pretty much everything was unclean. We figured that the ducts and dryer vent had also been neglected, so we decided to get them cleaned out. Lowes contacted us promptly to schedule our service, and arrived when they said they would. They were very pleasant, and left no mess. They showed us before and after pictures. They recommended waiting a week and then changing the air filter in our furnace. We've never had this service performed before and don't really have a basis for comparison, but have no complaints with the work Lowe's did.

Everything went well. Used an Angie's List deal and was very happy with the services performed.

It turned out okay. I was a little bit disappointed. I went with Lowe's because they were cheaper than the guy I had used in the past. But I just didn't feel that the ducts got totally cleaned out. My wife said, "Well, why don't you have them back?" I said, "I think it's the machine." The one they used before had a big powerful thing on the truck. This was more of a portable sucking fan or whatever. I just don't think it pulled stuff out as good as the other. I happened to look at one place where I had noticed a lot of debris on the floor. He was trying to blow through the ducts and it still seemed to be there when they were done. I was so-so with it. There were no other charges. The guy was very nice. He told me he threw in a sanitizer because we were relatively an easy job. He backed his truck in the driveway and rolled the thing off his truck. He didn't have to bring it down the basement or something. He said he talked to his office and they were fine with that. He was just very nice. But, I just didn't think he did as good a job as the guy who had the truck mounted thing that I used the time before. I would recommend them to come with a more powerful sucking machine. I went with them because of the price. But, I don't think the value was there. Next time, I'll pay more and go back to the guy who had the more powerful machine on his truck. We got it done within a week of when I had made the payment. The responsiveness was fine.

Contractor was very professional, did a good job and cleaned up afterwards. The vents had never been cleaned so were very dirty. The house is 50+ years old.

It wasn't what I expected. I thought the cleaning would consist of their removing my machine from the wall where the connection is and cleaning all the way out to that point but they didn't. They cleaned from outside and went down 18 feet. After I had that work done, I talked to others that had that cleaning done and that's how they described their services were. Naturally, even when I bought it that's how I thought it was going to be. They came out and did the work but it wasn't what I expected. I don't think it was a thorough job. The way it was advertised, I thought it would be different. I don't think it solved the problem that prompted me to have the service to begin with. The pricing certainly does not match up with the work that was performed. The quality of service I was very dissatisfied with. I talked with the manager and he just tried to pacify me instead of working through the issues. He just listened to me and blew me off.

He was on time and waited for me. The process was quick, and I scheduled online.

I’ve done some research and the kind of air duct cleaning they do is not supposed to be the most thorough I don’t think. It was one guy who came and he had some kind of like big vacuum that he put down in the basement. I guess he was trying to suck everything through the house down into that but I don’t think that was probably the most thorough type of air duct cleaning. I guess for the money, it was fine. I think they were pretty responsive. He seem to know what he was doing and went through and did everything. I’d probably try to find somebody that did a more comprehensive type of cleaning.

Overall, it was very good. They came out within days of having purchased the deal. We already had an appointment. I think they called us the same day that we made the purchase. There was no additional charge. The best part is that our dryer now functions noticeably better. The dryer was running hot and it took multiple cycles to get things dry. After the cleaning, things got dried in one cycle just as it is supposed to. The worst part was that the technician tracked dirt up and down the basement stairs in his work boots. When he first came in, he took his shoes off and he basically walked around in his socks, but then later in the cleaning process, he had on his work boots. I don't know if he had been out in the backyard where he was actually cleaning the vent or if it was at some other point. He had to bring the equipment down to the basement and at some time, he tracked dirt up and down the stairs, but the cleaning itself was fine. It wasn't like loose dirt. I could see his footprints on the carpet, and it wasn't until after he left that I noticed that it wasn't just the way that the nap of the carpet lays that had discoloration. It came out with a carpet cleaning and I own a machine to do that. That was the only knack against them. I didn't go with the cheapest offer that Angie's List had on the site. I went basically with the name that I knew so that if there was a problem, I know Lowe's. I know that they are not a fly-by-night operation. The dryer is noticeably cleaner and working better. I don't know about the ventilation system but we haven't had any issues. When other service providers come into the house like the cable guys, they have plastic booties that they put over their feet. This guy took his shoes off and then later didn't take his shoes off.

It was my understanding that this is a Full Service air duct cleaning. But, found that it's not. I wanted the technician to clean inside of the unit as well along with ducts. He said that would cost $ 300 more than the $ 199 but doable. I asked him to proceed with basic air duct cleaning since I have already purchased deal via Angies List. Marci did a fine job at the cleaning of ducts and sanitizing them later. He was the only technician who was present and seemed to know what he was doing. But, I am not sure if he is National Air Duct Cleaning Association (NADA) certified. NADA clearly states that a certified technician needs to supervise the process of air duct cleaning but it didn't seem to happen. I would have chosen full service and paid more if an option was made available, but assumed that this service is a full air duct cleaning as the company is registered with NADA. My suggestion to the company is offer the full service air duct cleaning for a higher price and send a certified technician along with the crew.

They were very prompt and professional, did not try to upsell me anything. The whole service took about 2 hours for our 3200 square foot home, very thorough and did not make a mess. He showed me how my air filter was the wrong size. Now our home is a lot less dusty and smells better, it's scary the amount of dirt he found. I will definitely use them again!

Mike did a great job. He even cleaned out the inside of the dryer itself from the lint screen to the vent hook up.

The price listed is a guess as I don't remember what the price was. It was a special price offered on Angie's List though. The service was done on time and the person was very professional. I had assumed that they would clean the dryer vent but it was sanitized whatever that means. It was my mistake for not understanding what sanitizing involved. They did what they signed up to do so I can't complain.

Scheduling was really easy and everything went off without a hitch, they also replaced our vent cover with something a little better flowing.

I called and asked questions and then purchased the Angie's List coupons to service two HVAC systems in the house. Showed up on time, did the work, explained things along the way ... no complaints!

Provider arrived very close to the beginning of the promised arrival window. They were efficient and demonstrated along the way how long it had been since some of the ducts were cleaned and the difference that this cleaning was making.

The provider was very professional and polite. He called ahead to give us his eta and was right on time. When he arrived he did a walk through of the house to note where all of the vents and returns were. He worked quickly and efficiently while taking the time not to cause any significant damage when removing vent return covers (it's unavoidable sometimes if the cover is on the wall and has been painted over on the edges). Overall very happy with the service itself. The price seems a bit high but ended up being about mid-range when I called around to get quotes from other companies.

I cannot recommend Lowes enough. Scheduling the job was very easy. The company offered to show up early as another client canceled. I really appreciated it. The technician showed up; explained exactly what he was going to do and how it was going to work; and then proceeded to get to work. The company does NOT rush the job, which I also appreciated. After performing the work, he even changed the filter on my A/C unit (I already had the filter). He wanted to show me what to expect and make a recommendation on filters to keep my air quality at a high level. (Spend the extra money on the better filters.) And in case anyone reading this review is wondering, the cleaning is the real deal. They hook up the large (and loud) machine to the a/c unit and then go to every return and vent and clean and sanitize them.
