S-R TOPSOIL

I recently used S/R Topsoil for a load of shredded topsoil and I was very pleased. So I decided to call and see if they also had gravel to deliver. I was doing some landscaping and was ready to fill in a path with small, angular gravel. After talking about my project with the woman on the phone, she discussed the matter with someone else who told her crushed limestone was what I needed. I received a phone call prior to delivery and the gravel was put right where I asked. As I started to move the gravel to the path it seemed very sandy. There were stones the size I desired but there was so much sand. I kept shoveling to beat the rain and get to a later appointment. I was hoping the farther down into the pile I got there would be more chunks and less grain. Not so. I was quite disappointed with the look of the pathway but waited until after it rained to call just in case the sandy pieces were washed away. When I talked to the woman who answers the phone and shared my disappointment she said that is what crushed limestone looks like. The phone call ended with being told she was sorry I wasn't happy with the product. I would suggest that anyone who wants S/R's gravel should see what they are buying before a purchase is made. This was my second path that I have made from gravel (different home) and there is no comparison. This material is definitely inferior to what I had used before.

Neighbors just recently had topsoil delivered, and I asked them who they used and if they were happy with the product. The answer was yes, and I looked up S/R topsoil and placed my order. I estimated 2 yards of shredded topsoil and had it delivered the day after it stopped raining. I had asked for a phone call before the load was to arrive just to make sure I would be at home. They never called, but luckily I was at home and had tarps ready. The driver dumped the load where I asked and was on his way within minutes. I felt the price of the topsoil and the delivery charge were reasonable compared to a couple of other larger companies I had looked into.
