Remark Construction

FANTASTIC !!!! These guys were a dream to work with...In fact, we are hiring them AGAIN, this time to remodel our 1st floor. They were thorough, gave us options, presented different perspectives, timely, clean, so polite, etc.,...we now think of them as adopted family!! They took a basement and made it into an office, complete bathroom, family room, den and lots of storage and my husband's favorite--his own work shop. EVERYONE who has been to our home LOVES this additional living space!!! We can't wait for the crew to start on the 1st floor!! REMARK is definitely a company you want to use for home remodeling! I don't just give them 5 stars, I give them 10!!!!

I would not recommend doing work with Remark Construction. They told us our project would take 4 weeks to complete, and ended up taking double that. Which really isn’t a huge deal-I feel like that’s the name of the construction game, but at each delay we were told 2 more days. We weren’t even living in our home because of the amount of work that we were having done. There was never a reason given as to why it was taking longer than the “2 more days” which was frustrating, I would have appreciated a realistic timeline. The project started on a sour note, during the first week on the job they drove through our yard leaving tire marks and ruts, we were told they would put grass seed down, straw and we wouldn’t even know it happened. Which would have been fine if that actually happened. The reason we were having any remodeling done was because of a burst pipe, I asked the project manager twice, Jon Kramer if it was repaired, both times we assured me was. (I checked twice because I was paranoid about the pipe). On an off chance I needed to shower at our house one day, took a shower and pipe leaked, soaking the floor and freshly hung dry wall below. Remark placed the blame on me for this, never apologized for it happening. After this was fixed I needed to shower at our home again-when I walked in I asked Jon (the PM) if I could shower that day. He said yes, as I walked up the stairs I hear one of the co-workers ask why I wouldn’t be able to shower. Jon told him he forgot to fix the pipe, he closed up the dry wall and didn’t even touch the pipe…the whole reason they were even there in the first place, and the same pipe he assured me on two different occasions that it was fixed. There were a couple of other instances where I would come over to check on the house and our front door was left unlocked and our garage door was wide open while no one was inside. Again, we weren’t living there at the time so anyone could have come into our home, and who knows how many times this actually happened when we didn’t come over to check on the house. We were charged for a duct cleaning ($850), again I asked Jon if it happened. He assured me it had. I opened a couple of vents and the amount of dry wall dust and debris that I saw told me right away nothing had happened. I called the owner Chris Kramer, because this is the second major lie I’ve caught Jon in. He told me it happened as well. We were also charged for a thorough cleaning of the construction areas ($750). Remark had the cleaning crew out before the were done with construction-like holes were still in the ceiling. Then wondered why I wasn’t satisfied with the cleaning when there were actual pieces of drywall and dust still covering everything. Signs of a poorly ran business. The day after Jon lied to me about the duct cleaning, I was supposed to meet another PM at our house, so again I was going to shower at home that morning. I went to take a shower and the water was trickling out. I asked Jon why there was no water pressure in the shower and he shrugged his shoulders and said everything is hooked back up. You can imagine my frustration, I’ve just caught him in ANOTHER lie and he’s not even going to try to figure out or offer any insight into why I can’t take a shower. So I said louder, “Why isn’t there water pressure in the shower?”. He started freaking out saying I couldn’t talk to him like that. He went outside and called someone else, I stood at the garage door and could hear every word he spoke and he completely distorted everything that just happened. I told him to leave. We turned on our air conditioning for the first time about a week after we officially moved back in. We turned it on about 11 in the morning and then left for the day. When we returned home at 6:00 it was 97 degrees in our house, it was only 80 degrees outside. I called our HVAC service and they came out for an emergency visit. Within in seconds of looking at the newly installed (by Remark) thermostat he could tell that it wasn’t installed properly and that it was set up for gas (which we don’t have), he took the cover off and realized the whole thing was wired wrong as well. There were other smaller issues (like dents in our refrigerator and microwave) that occurred, but I think everything detailed above gives you enough information to make an educated decision on whether or not to hire Remark.

Remark is an awesome contractor! They did an outstanding job on our playroom and steam room project. Everyone on the team was extremely professional and very respectful of us, and of our home. Chris and his team were very responsive to our needs and questions while handling all the details which made our projects easy. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality contractor and will be in contact for future projects.

Our project manager Jeff was excellent, attentive to detail, and helpful in fleshing out our ideas. He truly wanted to do the job well.

Finishing our basement with Remark Construction was a great experience. They made the process easy and they were able to work within our budget. Chris, Jeff, Carlos and Alan were very skilled, professional, courteous and gave updates regularly. The craftsmanship was top notch and it was great working with them. We hope to work with them again on future projects and will continue to recommend them to family and friends.

We had a great experience with Remark. The build out turned out better than originally planned. Remark and team worked with us as we made changes and added items to the build out. Their attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship can be seen everywhere. The team was courtesy and easy to work with.

Chris and his team were amazing. They were professional, communicative, honest and made this whole process extremely easy. The team made our entire vision come true and the basement looks better than ever, at a very reasonable price. I can’t say enough good things about the whole end to end experience with Remark Construction. I will go back to them for any home project we have in the future.

Chris and his team were fantastic from start to finish! Detail-oriented, professional, courteous, and budget-mindful! The work is impeccable and completed on-time; what more could you possibly ask for? Nothing, I assure you.

Our patio project went very well and ended up being better than we envisioned. Chris was great at listening to what we were looking for and offering up ideas and advice to get it done how we wanted. His team is very skilled, professional and willing to answer questions and confirm everything was how we wanted it. Chris was very upfront about our options and prices for everything involved. Remark is a great and upcoming business and I would recommend them for your project. We will certainly contact them again if we do any more large improvement projects.

Remark removed and replaced our large custom composite deck. Double picture frame with contrasting colors and aluminum rails. Fantastic quality construction on the new build. Very satisfied with the new product!!! Chris and his team were super courteous and respectful. Good to work with. Prompt responses to concerns or requested revisions. Would certainly hire this team again - have already recommended them to friends!

We have the highest regard for Remark construction. They sat down with us at the beginning of the project and listened to what our wants/needs were. They later came back with all the drawings and plans and reviewed them with us. After we signed off on all the plans they executed perfectly and gave us the addition we were dreaming of.

Everything from quote to finished basement went very well thanks to our on-site project manager Nate and the owner Chris. Once the project started Nate was very communicative about the basement layout and as the work progressed we talked each day to make sure everything was coming together well. Nate and his team were very skilled and accommodated many customizations in our Entertainment room and gym. I would highly recommend Remark Construction for any type of remodel. Our basement build out was larger than normal and the team was very organized and handled all challenges to create a wonderful space for our family to enjoy for years.

Couldn't recommend Remark enough. Our project manager was very attentive to what we wanted and had a quick turnaround on the project and things are beautiful. We would absolutely hire Remark again for future projects.

We had An exceptional experience with Remark. From the beginning - Chris was very responsive, professional and transparent about the work and pricing. Once the projects started, Jeff and the guys were great. Communication and collaboration every step of the way throughout the project. We utilized Remark for 4 projects which were complete over the course of 12 weeks; basement finishing, bathroom remodel, fireplace wall feature and stair rail spindle replacement. We were extremely pleased with each project. So often you hear the horror stories of contracting companies who will start a job and leave for an extended period of time before they come back. Throughout the 4 projects, there was work being done every week - and just about every day. I would highly recommend Remark for any remodel needs and we will definitely be utilizing them in the future for any other projects.

Seamless gutters were made on site and installed beautifully, house and 16’ tall barn. Had the same crew fix some wind damaged trim on a buddies dads house and he was super pleased also.

Fantastic!!! Couldn’t say enough about the level of professionalism from the team at remark and how the quality of work exceeded my already high expectations. Everything down to the little details that I wanted were completed and in a timely manner. We worked side by side during the design and came up with features that look as if they came out of a designer home and garden magazine. I will continue to use Remark for any future projects outside of my own scope at home and will let everyone know that these folks are a great solution to your home renovation projects.
