+ -1 moreAs I initially indicated, Mr. McCane is very responsive. We apparently had a miscommunication and he immediately contacted me following my recent post. Unfortunately, the distance is too far for his designer to travel. No work was performed, but I would not have any reservations about recommending him or his company.
Description of Work: I bought the big deal, and Mr McCane called me right away. However, he was supposed to check with his designer because he didn't think the designer would want to come all the way to my house.

Tom works well with his designer, Annie Miller, Both made every attempt to listen to our vision and execute that with quality materials and impressive skills. Tom's crew is comprised of family and close friends and they work in concert to provide that exceptional effect.
Description of Work: We gutted a bathroom and installed a walk in shower, new cabinets, and flooring. We needed construction and drywall installation, electrical and plumbing services as well.

His team was prompt, courteous, willing to work with us on changes in scope and provided important project changes that we made us very pleased with the outcome. We would use McCane construction again.
Description of Work: We wanted our bathroom remodeled but we didnt want to spend more than we thought the house would improve in value. So our solution was to contract some work while doing some ourselves. We hired McCane Construction to replace our tub/shower with a walk-in fully tiled shower.

Description of Work: Tom has done a number of projects at our home, mostly carpentry oriented including rebuilding our screened in porch, remodeling our mud room and building a composite deck on a flat roof.

+ -1 moreWhile my wife and I were pleased with the quality of the work and continue to be pleased as we enjoy the remodeled bathroom, perhaps the greatest benefit from Tom was the planning that went into the job prior to the demolition work. He first met with us and the company from which we purchased the new vanity, discussing the various alternatives. He also met with us and the company from which we purchased the shower pan, the molded shower panels, and the vanity top. The job was handled in a completely professional manner. When we detected a slight leak in the shower drain piping, it was addressed and immediately corrected by the plumbing contractor, which was facilitated by Tom. We are long overdue for a kitchen remodel, and intend to use Tom for this remodel.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel. Tore out damaged drywall from a leaking bathroom skylight and reinstalled new drywall, after a roofing contractor had replaced and installed a new skylight cover. Old bathtub, vanity, mirror, and floor tile were removed and hauled away. Half wall that separated the old vanity and toilet was removed too, to open up the room. Tom McCane sub contracted the electrical work, which included rewiring with the half wall removal, installation of additional outlets, and installation of a larger fan. The larger fan has worked well, as no mold or mildew have been experienced since the job was completed, 11 months ago. Tom also sub contracted the plumbing work. A new shower pan, and molded tile wall with inlay was installed. New Moen fixtures were installed in both the shower and vanity top by the plumbing sub contractor. Tom's crew performed the remaining work including the installation of the vanity new tile, drywall, medicine cabinets, and painting. The other work that was sub contracted was the installation of shower glass by Basco.

Description of Work: McCane Construction did several renovation projects for me this past year at my two houses, including interior and exterior carpentry, drywall and sheet metal work. They also installed several new doors and hardware, did all the painting, and repaired and updated the plumbing and electric. All of their work was first class, on schedule and of very high quality. They arrived on time and cleaned up work areas on a daily basis. Their pricing was extremely fair and I would definately recommend them to anyone.

Preparing for home sale, however Real Estate Agent suggested home value and appeal will not increase significantly. Therefore, we have cancelled this project.

+ 0 moreMcCane Construction installed hard wood in my living room, dining room, front hall, bath and laundry room in just 4 days, and without any delays. I am so pleased with their excellent communication, and how quickly the project started. The fast progression, and help in suggesting color and price point of the material was to my advantage. I couldn't be happier the new floating hardwood was able to be installed over the existing, 30 year old parquet flooring, eliminating extra installation cost/time/dust/removal, etc. The crew was professional, punctual, and I look forward to McCain doing two more remodeling projects, and would highly recommend.

+ 1 moreThe project went well. We were expecting our first child and McCane worked with us to get the bathroom finished before our due date. As in most old homes, there were unexpected issues that popped up during construction and McCane promptly communicated with us on these and worked through the issues to our satisfaction. We are happy with the way the room turned out. On the downside, we felt that not enough steps were taken to keep our house clean during the project. Understanding that construction will create dust, we still felt it could have been managed better.
Description of Work: Remodeling of a small full bath on the second floor of our home. This included removal and replacement of tile on the floor and walls,installation of a new bathtub, plaster patching and painting. We supplied the materials.

+ -1 moreThe kitchen remodel was very successful! Tom and his crew removed and installed all new upper and lower cabinets, new tile back splash, new appliances, and crown molding. They also painted and did some minor carpentry. He also provided the plumber and electrician, who were both excellent. Tom worked closely with me and the designer to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. He was great about keeping in communication and in handling my various questions and changes. It was a big project, but I always knew what the next steps were. I wouldn't hesitate to call on him for additional projects!
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel - new cabinets, flooring, and all. (Cost for total remodel was $20,000+.)

Description of Work: The most recent job that Tom did for me was installing a new floor. In April of last year he installed new kitchen cabinets. Several years ago he totally remodeled the kitchen and upstairs bathroom at my former residence after I had a lot of water damage. He has also installed replacement windows and a new deck. All of the work has been done at an extremely reasonable cost and with great workmanship. When I need something done at my house, I call Tom and McCane Construction.

HIS EXPERIENCE AND THAT OF HIS CREW WAS VERY HELPFUL IN DECIDING MANY SMALL DETAILS THAT IMPROVED THE OVERALL LOOK OF THE PROJECT. HE OFFERED OPINIONS AND SUGGESTION WHEN ASKED, BUT DID NOT PRESS THEM. IN MOST CASES HE WAS RIGHT ON WITH WHAT WE WANTED. HE WAS ALSO GREAT AT SCHEDULING ALL THE WORK WITH HIS PLUMBERS AND ELECTRICIANS SO THEY WERE NOT IN EACH OTHERS WAY AND WERE EFFICIENT AT GETTING THEIR TASK DONE. HE IS KNOW BY HIS SUPPLIERS AND THEY KNOW THE HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS HE WANTS.

+ 4 moreMy house is over 100 years old and is difficult to work with. Every project creates unexpected challenges. McCane Construction performed miracles. My original shower insert would not work with my fun house-style unleveled walls, so they found a new insert and made it work. The floor could not be made level without creating a huge, uneven step into the rest of the house, so they worked to make it blend and tiled the baseboards to guard against any pooling of water. I have distinct woodwork in the house, and they made sure the doorway they created matched the existing, 100 year old woodwork. Replastering the 100 year old concrete was also difficult, but the end result looks smooth and perfect. McCane Construction made sure to communicate every challenge, explain the various options, and assisted me in choosing options that would keep cost down without sacrificing the aesthetic aspect. The final cost was slightly more than the original estimate, but far less than I realistically anticipated.
Description of Work: Remodeled bathroom to install shower where there was no prior shower. Framed shower area to allow insert to fit. Moved bathroom door several feet, requiring demolition of wall and building new wall and door frame. Replastered existing walls. Installed toilet, sink medicine cabinet, towel rod, and other accessories. Leveled and tiled floor. Created tile baseboard. Painted.

Description of Work: He pulled up my old carpet, installed a new floor, and also replaced my mailbox. Tom and his company have done approximately ten projects for me over the years. I have been completely satisfied every time with the cost as well as the quality of the work. I won't use anyone else. I have recommended Tom to many friends over the years, and they have always been thrilled with the results. I would give McCane Construction the highest rating possible in every area.

Description of Work: They repaired drywall, patched walls, and painted throughout our house. They installed a wood beam in the foyer and installed some build outs around our 2 skylights that really make them stand out. They also did some outside work. They installed a peg board in the garage, they replace some boards on the deck, and they installed a new side garage door. They also repaired and painted the front door and did some siding work.

+ 2 moreIt went very well. Tom answered all my questions and tried to keep cost down to? a minimum. He?agreed to a few changes and adjusted the estimate. Replacing the windows is the next project for Tom.
Description of Work: After we had our family room concrete slab raised by Arrow Concrete Lifting; Tom and his crew came in and repaired major cracks in our kitchen,family room and laundry room. They also installed new crown molding in the kitchen and family room. Both rooms were freshly painted and look great again. You can not see where the walls were cracked and repaired. |They also installed a new dryer vent in the wall between the laundry room & garage. It is now properly vented outside and not discharging into the garage. |Tom made sure everything went smoothly. He even talked with the owner of Arrow Concrete Lifting and recommended the work be done as soon as possible because of weather conditions. He was there to see how it was done and what would be needed to do next.
