The man from the company returned my voice mail and we set up a time for him to come out and look at my problem. He worked around my schedule on the weekend which was great. When Jeff showed up, right on time, I described the problems and showed him the interior damage. He went out and climbed up on the roof, taking a caulk gun with him. He looked over the problem areas, came down and described what he would do and how much it would cost. He told me he'd caulked the areas that looked like they were leaking and offered to mail me the estimate if I needed to go. I had enough time to wait for the written estimate, which I approved. Jeff indicated they were backed up and it would be several weeks before they could get to the repairs. As I was traveling, I said that was fine. They called two days before they performed the work to let me know they'd be out. Showed up and the work was completed.
Description of Work: They removed a leaking chimney and repaired the roof, roofing over where the chimney used to be. They had to find a match for the asphalt shingles - they are an off brown color and not very common. Did a great job on the match. They also built a slope for water to route around the main chimney which was also leaking and resealed everything.

From the start (the estimate and explanation) to the finish was excellent. The gentlemen who performed the work were polite and respectful of the property. They were apologetic for bringing snow into the house as they were in and out repeatedly. The ground was snow covered and there was no way around being in the snow. The completion of the work was neatly done. I am well pleased.
Description of Work: New flue liner put in the chimney with proper venting of the furnace and water heater and a cap put on top. Mortar was replaced around the opening for the vent and the previous hole was plugged.

My furnace repairman noticed some issues with my furnace venting properly which revealed some chimney damage. I knew that I would either have to get my chimney repaired and add new features to bring it up to code, or else invest in a high-efficiency furnace and jet-vented hot water heater that I could vent without using the chimney. So, I called S. Bradley to give me a quote on the chimney repairs. I mentioned that while he was there, I would also like to get some quotes on fixing some siding that had been damaged in SuperStorm Sandy, and maybe look at a couple of other issues. When the man arrived, he told me that the chimney was too narrow to add a drop chute at the bottom, and that I'd likely have to rebuild the chimney or build a new chimney somewhere else. Since we both agreed that this type of repair would be more expensive than getting a new furnace, he didn't even bother giving me a quote. Then I showed him the damaged siding, and noted that I would also like a quote for repairing and/or rebuilding my balcony, which was sagging and a little worse for wear. He said he would deliver me the quotes, but it's been a couple weeks and I haven't heard back. It's too bad, because I had some other renovations in mind and they were a highly rated company. I guess it's back to the old drawing board!

Scott showed up as scheduled, came into the house to see the problem that water had /was creating for me then, went upon the roof observed the problems, came down, explained what needed to be repaired and said he could do the repairs on that visit. GREAT!!! S. Bradley Co. was the original installer of the chimney cap. Gusty winds blew the cap off. There was no charge for reinstalling the cap. He worked on the chimney, but did not have the shingles. He said he would return with the shingles, and sure enough his word was as good as gold. Scott was patient, ansering any and all questions that I asked about the chimney, shingles, etc.
Description of Work: Reinstalled Chimney Cap, reinstalled shingles, removed old caulking, re-sealed chimney flashing, and replaced missing tabs.

I waited three months to post this review, just to ensure that the chimney was no longer leaking. It has held up beautifully, including during a weeklong deluge brought by Hurricane Sandy. I used S. Bradley for a $15,000 roof replacement previously, and I am happy to report that this company is as responsive, courteous, and professional in completing a small job as they are in completing a bigger (and I assume more profitable) one. I can't recommend S. Bradley more enthusiastically.

The flat roof of our addition was leaking into the house. We had previously had the roof patched but that had failed, and another roofing company came out and basically quoted the same patch job, which would have cost less than half what we paid S. Bradley, but they couldn't explain what they would do that would be any different from the current, failed patch. S. Bradley inspected the entire roof, and recommended pulling off a row or two of siding from the house, and running the rubber membrane roof up under the shingles, for proper flashing. (The old rubber membrane roof was butted up against the house, which we think is where the water was getting in.) The whole project involved replacing a sixteen foot run of roof, about two feet out onto the roof, and two feet up the side of the house. They replaced the rotted roof sheeting, rafters, and insulation, then installed the new membrane roof and ice-guard, and heat-welded the seam to the remaining roof (which was fine). They also removed and resealed the railing all the way around the roof. Finally, they replaced the wood siding and installed a nice-looking metal flashing on the step to our patio door, to make sure that area is good and water-proof. The whole job looks high-quality and professional, just a small straight seam where the ice guard meets the old roof, and the flashing not only ensures a good water seal, it also looks sharp. The project took two guys two five-hour days. The gentlemen were professional and courteous, and stopped to show me what they were doing along the way. The job site was perfectly clean when they were done, and they communicated everything accurately. The estimate was exactly what we paid, no surprises. Jim, who provided the estimate, was careful to write down everything he included in the quote, and Shane, the installer, was thorough about addressing each item. We probably could have probably gotten the job done cheaper, but I prefer to have the job done correctly, and the S. Bradley guys seemed to take real pride in doing a good job and making it look and work nicely. I'd recommend these guys for any roofing job.

They did a nice job and were easy to work with. They were very accommodating when I wanted a very specific type of exhaust vent (specific color and size) requiring them to make a special order and come back a week later to finish the job. It was clear that my being pleased with the outcome of the job was important to the roofers. One issue that arose was a mix-up in scheduling the work to be done but the way it was handled was fully to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: The roofers installed an exhaust vent, removed gutter guards, sealed around chimneys and existing exhaust vents and a few other small tasks.

I had called seven other roofing companies and they never returned my calls, due to the overall demand caused by the storm. Once I contacted Bradley's roofing, they returned my call the same day and promised to come out in a few days for a quote. They did and it was very reasonable. They confirmed that they were extremely busy and would find time to fit me into their schedule. A spot opened up and they came over and completed the job in a day. Very professional, very gratifying. Great job.
Description of Work: The entire back side of the roof was replaced, along with a ten ft section of gutter that I managed to squash, when I put my ladder on it. Also, they put ice guard the first two feet of the roof, along with caps for the pipes. Quote was very reasonable, according to my insurance agent, service was excellent, and they did a great job.

Our roof had 3 layers of old shingle on top of rotted wood that should have been replaced long before we owned the home. We had 3 quotes and S. Bradley came in the middle in cost, but Scott won me over with his explanation of what they would do and how he would make sure the crew that would do our house would be used to the challenges an older home would present during the work. The other quotes came in at $8500 (that guy didn't even get on the roof) and $19,000 (the company didn't take a lot of time explaining the cost or what they would be doing). Let's face it - roofs aren't cheap. As the roofers had to replace more and more bad wood that they didn't expect, I was sure our estimate was getting blown out of the water. I couldn't have been more wrong! In fact, the cost was within about 100 bucks of the estimate. The crew had to deal with a lot of wet weather, but came out just about every day to get as much as they could done with the terrible weather conditions. One of the more seasoned crew members told us that in his 20 year career, our roof was up there among the hardest. With that said, they were always friendly. I work from home and my office was close to where they were working some of the time. They were always working well as a team and not at all grumpy about having to work on our nightmarish roof. Both our flat and pitched roofs look fantastic. Little bonus - the addition of the venting has saved on on electric and gas bills as well. Highly recommended!
Description of Work: Complete pitched roof tear off and replacement. They had to replace a lot of wood from a previous fire as well. They also tore off and replaced 2 flat roofs. Added ridge vent, soffett vents and replaced some gutters.

I sent in the signed estimate and the work is on their schedule. I expect it will be done as professionally as my last job with them.
Description of Work: I have used this company before, for a flat roof over an enclosed porch. Jeff found the leak that other companies missed. This was 8 years ago, and the roof has not leaked since. Because of my prior experience with Jeff, I requrested an estimate when I found a leak in another area of the house during our recent storm. Jeff came out on schedule and looked at the flashing around the chimney, taking a picture so he could show me what needed to be done. He recommended resealing the flashing, and also tuck pointing the chimney and some other chimney repairs.

Description of Work: We have a cottage on Lake Erie and get lots of wind from the lake. When Hurricane Sandy became a Tropical Storm and passed into Ohio, the storm had very strong winds along the Lake Erie Coast Line. We had some damage to our lake house roof and called S. Bradley Company. They had very good ratings on Angies List and their office was in Lake County, not far from the house. I called them and the lady that I spoke with was very attentive and helpful. She set up an appointment within a few days of our call. Jeff came to check out the damage on the day we set the appointment. He explained exactly what had happened and explained what he could do to fix it. I had saved extra shingles from when we had the roof originally installed. He gave us an amount for the repairs and I asked how soon we could schedule the repairs. He said it would take no longer than two hours and since there was about three hours of daylight remaining, he said he could do it right then. About two hours later, the roof was repaired, looked great and we thanked Jeff and paid him. Excellent service and lots of knowledge about roofing. Marilyn & Joel McCullar

I had a leak in the room over the garage so I call S. Bradley and they came out in the rain that fixed the leak. Based on an inspection of the flashing it was suggested that the flashing be replaced and an ice guard be installed under the new flashing. The quote was looked ok so I told them to do the work. They even matched the color of the flashing with the old flashing.

Great! S Bradley came out promptly and provided a detailed estimate with options and prices including material and labor detailed. They were neither the cheapest nor (by far) the most expensive. They listened and quoted only on what we needed done. They explained why they use a particular brand of shingle &etc. and gave us manufacturers glossy fliers on their products. We signed and agreed to a target date. They started on that date and competed within the expected time. Everyone on the crew was friendly and professional. They did not damage flowers and left almost no nails. We waited a month before writing this review just to make sure everything is OK. No surprises! Thank you Angies List reviewers. You were right about this company.

I called and we scheduled an appointment a couple of days later. He identified the same problems I saw and gave me a very competitive quote. I put myself on their schedule and a couple of weeks later they called and we set a firm date. They showed up on time, did the tear off, did pretty significant carpentry work, primed the wood and laid down the underlayment. Work was top notch. The following day they came back and put on the shingles and did the painting They left the yard exactly as it was. You could not tell they were even there, other than the new roof. Will definitely use them again!

They were very good. They had an outstanding review on Angie's List and they had been awarded "The Outstanding Service Award" of the year for the last 12 years. That really stood out. Ultimately, it was also my experience with the company when they came out. They were very impressive and straight-forward about the process. A lot of what impressed me was the fact that this was an insurance claim and having somebody who had experience with the insurance industry, working for this provider and helping us navigate through it was an invaluable resource. I also liked their honesty and straight-forwardness, the way they handled their business. I would use them again in the future if needed, in fact, I can't recommend them enough to friends and family. I had a good experience with them. They were outstanding.

We contracted for the work in the fall knowing that we would be early on the schedule for the spring. The rep called in March and asked if we were ready for the work because the winter had been mild and the crew was available to go to work right away. They worked hard for several days, with the weather cooperating for the most part. The work was steady, they were respectful of our time by not arriving too early in the morning and most nights were wrapped up as I was getting home from work. We couldn't have been happier with the work and the entire experience. The cleanup was so well done you would have been hard-pressed to know that just a few days earlier there had been such a mess of old shingles and roofing materials coming off the roof. Very professional & very neat!
Description of Work: Split level home with total of three large roof areas. Complete roof tear-off of two layers of old shingles, replace underlayment, new shingles with ridge venting, cut open soffits and replace soffit covers, add new vent covers for bathroom exhaust vents, add baffles into attic to improve airflow, cover existing vents in peaks, replace gutters and downspouts, tie downspouts into existing drainage system.

These guys were amazing. It started with the original visit for an estimate from Jeff and only got better. Jeff was very attentive to my long list of concerns and made a point of being sure that I understood all the details and scope of the work. They were also very adaptable as modifications needed to be made along the way, and patiently responded to all my concerns. The work crews did a great job, did a decent clean-up afterwards, and were cheerful and pleasant throughout despite scorching temperatures. It was a huge job and they completed it on time. The level of service was very personal and professional. I have already scheduled to get an estimate on another property. And will use them for my future needs as well.
Description of Work: They did a complete roof tear-off, and re-shingle, installed ridge vents, corrected inadequate roof ventilation, installed insulation in the portions of the roof where it was lacking, removed and replaced or re-installed gutter heater cables, replaced a gutter, replaced a porch floor and added a gutter to the porch, installed gutter protection to the garage.

The owner Scott came out to give an estimate and spent a lot of time. He talked in more detail than other estimates we got. The estimate itself was extremely detailed. When I was ready to move ahead, several months later, he came out again and we discussed how best to ventilate the attic and developed a plan together. The crew was polite, professional, worked hard and accomplished a lot each day. One day the crew was not sent out due to the heat, and I was called early as soon as that decision was made. They cleaned up each day they worked. I was very pleased with the work and how the job turned out.

Called this company on 6/12 and met with Mike Fox. He did a proposal and posted it to my email address, as well as mailing me a hard copy. He had explained in great detail what would need to be done, especially in the area of the ice guard and soffit work. I decided to sign the contract and put down the 1/3 deposit and we were shooting for completion during the month of August. Apparently, someone canceled a job so they bumped me back to June! The work was done between June 18 and June 26. One of the crew became ill during that time, so they were short one man. It was also beastly hot for 3 days in a row. I do not really think that they took too long to do the roof because it has some complicated areas. These guys were very professional to the point that when they took their breaks, they discussed how to proceed with the job after the break. Dominic and Jay were the senior members of the crew and set excellent examples for the younger workers. It was unusual to hear them express such fondness for the company they work for. I found it very refreshing to deal with a company where people like what they do! THey didn't have to go too much over budget on the project. The only big surprise was the skylight, which was a plastic bubble and would definitely start to crack when removed from the roof on the entryway. Their approach to the work was meticulous. They left my garage cleaner that it was before. Mike noticed something that needed attention and sent one of the fellows out to fix it. They stand by their work. I also found out that they can do just about any kind of exterior work r.e replacement windows, siding, some masonry, etc. I would certainly recommend this company for another Super Service award. My neighbors have heaped me with compliments!
Description of Work: Did complete roof tear-off (3 layers of old shingles) and replacement on the house. Did tear-off and replacement on garage, also. On the house, replaced some bad wood and installed ice shield and vented soffits. Replaced bad gutters. On the garage, replaced some bad pieces of plywood on the roof before installing new shingles. Also, installed a new skylight in entryway to house.
