It has turned into my worst nightmare. At the very beginning, he was eager to move forward with the project, and began the permit process right away. In that first weeks time, he tells me he needs 400 dollars because my city has a complicated permit process. I had also called the city myself to verify about my original desire to have a 12x16 shed, and they said that it was an acceptable size. I then relayed that information to Wayne, and while he seemed aggravated about it, he did update the drawings for my city to reflect 12x16. I told him I knew this would cost a bit extra, and was willing to pay to have the bigger shed like I wanted in the first place. I began the mistrust level when he tried to add the 400 bucks to my contract, and I knew he was decieving me in regards to what my city charged. He put a line through it then after he wrote that additional money on the contract, and said forget it. I called my city again, and verified it costs $125 for a contractor to register in our city, and $25 for a shed permit. Yet, I tried to remain calm, and be patient. Between 4/1-4/10, he delivered a few materials of wood that he stored in my garage. He brought a huge pile of rocks that he butted up against the back of my house. His workers tore down my old shed, and left the remaining materials on the side of my house in two big piles. Going into that second week of April, I knew there would be inclement weather, and rain would prevent the job from being done as quick as I would have liked. However, this time period also started to become the myriad of excuses as to why he could not come out. Now I have a detailed record of the multple calls I placed to him. I was the one who had to keep calling for an update, and began to think that I was taken advantage of, and that he had no plan of returning. I averaged around 14 calls to Wayne Blair, and 10 text messages requesting updates because it seemed he was avoiding me. Recent events have proved lack of professionalism. First off, he never came back out to rewrite the contract to reflect a slightly larger shed. It was not until a conversation on May 9th that he told me the exact additional charge for a bigger shed, and stated it to be $675.00. All this time, he knew I had bought an above ground pool that was going to be installed at the end of May. He had insisted we would be done way before then. On that May 9th conversation, I informed him that the pool people were coming the next week, and I needed the old shed removed from the property to provide access to the pool installers. He promised me to come out that weekend to do that, and we could then rewrite the contract at well. He was a no call, no show. I left multiple messages, and still nothing. I had to cancel that pool installation date because of the old shed still sitting there. I did not hear from Wayne again until May 13th and he called acting obnoxious, yelling and saying he is done over here. He said all I do is listen to other people, and they steered me wrong. I asked him why would the Commissioner of my city would steer me wrong when he is a business professional as he knew I voiced my frustrations to our city building department. He then tells me he is going to deliver the remaining materials of siding and concrete, and then I am on my own. He ended up hanging up the phone on me as he couldn't control his anger levels. The next day he calls me and tells me he wants to make it right, and finish the job up, but he can't do anything until I write him another check. I told him he hasnt even done 1/4 of the original work, and i would feel more comfortable if he removed the old shed, and laid the concrete pad out before we proceeded to the actual build and for writing another check. He became angry again, and says thats the problem, that I won't give him more money. I told him how I spoke to a couple other shed contractors, and that they feel he is performing in a poor business conduct, and that I gave him way too much money up front to begin with. The other contractors stated that usually when someone asks for such a large sum up front, it is because they have bad credit, and cannot get materials on their own. He became more angry, and said, 'There you go again listening to other people." He also said the job would have probably been done if he didnt feel uncomfortable around my boyfriend. I asked him what difference does someones personal situation make in regards to a business contract. My boyfriend is a quiet man, polite, and would never create any commotion. He was sitting on the couch about 15 minutes into my contract negotiations with Wayne, and is a witness to Wayne talking me out of the shed I wanted. Other than that, I cannot imagine why Wayne would feel ackward around him, he has said nothing to him other than greeting him when he came over to bring materials. In fact, when I was startin to feel mistrustful, it was the boyfriend who said to give the guy a chance. In the end of this ridiculous conversation, I told Wayne I wanted a refund, and he said he is giving me nothing. I told him it was best to part ways, and I wanted no further business with him. He states he is dropping off those materials on Friday, May 16th and because hes such a 'nice guy' he will take away the old shed materials. Again, it becomes another no call, no show situation. At this point, I am beyond at my wits end. I called/text him to come take back his materials, and I want a refund minus him tearing the shed down and the proper building permit amount. I have not gotten any response back, and it is now May 20, 2014. We are well over a month and a half for a shed project, and my property has been left in disaster. I am in utter disbelief that this is how a business transaction took place, it is taken a deep toll on my life.
Description of Work: I contacted HomeAdvisor.com for a referral to get a shed built. They gave me the name of a company called Handy Remodeling Services. This company sent out Wayne Blair of Blair Master Services, LLC to subcontract, and provide me a quote. I told him I would like a 12x16 shed built, and he insisted that would go over my cities 200 square foot limit. He said a 12x12 was sufficient, and would build shelves in it. It was determined at this time that I am apprehensive as a single mom homeowner, and worry about being taken advantage of. He talked of family, and being an honest person. He then told me to help me out, we could sign a contract without the other company to save me some money. So I trusted him, and signed a contract with him. I gave him a check that day for $1575.00. When Handy Remodeling called me later in the week about the quote, I was to tell them I decided to go with someone else.
