When we were put in touch, I contacted QPS. He was very thorough, explained all of the information. He told me that it would be about 10 days before he was able to come to my home. He arrived as stated. They did 2 different chimneys – ground all of the joints, did tuckpointing and new flashing while removing the second chimney. He was as good as advertised. I’m planning on using him again in the future to put a cap on the remaining chimney.

Robert is their chief mason. We were really happy with their service. We figured it was well worth the cost. They were here exactly when they said they were going to be. I would probably use them again.

Rob Corrin, from QPS, I contracted QPS to remove and install new front entry columns and the other work specified above. He was the most expensive contractor from the three I had quote the job. I went with him based on referrals and his experience and apparent professionalism. His quality and workmanship were fair due to multiple attempts to install downspouts correctly, on some spots of the job he did not properly prep the area to protect the material from being damaged or lost. He jammed the front porch supports I had made for a previous job, to support the front overhang in such a way that they damaged the front soffits later repaired with spray paint supplied by me, but could have been avoided. He supplied a lot of great design advise through out the job, he is very creative. I made a punch list of items that needed to be completed before final payment would be rendered with only one change order listed on it. When he completed the job he took the punch list as a line by line change order and submitted a final bill with all the "additional costs" that were not agreed upon through an official and verbal change order request. He told me in the quote process that he requires the job to be paid in full at the completion of the job, which was fine with me, unfortunately he came to me after three days of work long before it was completed and asked and received half of the amount due. This job was quoted to take three days in actuality it took over 21 days, with a good amount of days taken off to accommodate his needs, for example, He needed me to store in my garage his tools and supplies. He cleaned up after the days work, but due to the garage being open all the time during the work my garage required a complete cleaning afterward (dust and debris from cutting stones). Had I known of all the dust and debris I would have said no and kept the garage closed. At one point of the landscaping job I had to teach one of his workers how to prune blue star junipers correctly, and he got upset because it took his worker longer than he thought necessary and claimed I was postponing the job. The pruning technique is industry standard practice and he was on day 7 when he said that comment. In hindsight he didn't have experience with stack stone columns and was apparent in the time it took him as compared to his quote. The masonry and landscape work came out great, but required a lot more time than what was quoted and constant process overview to ensure quality and expectations were meet.
