I called and scheduled an inspection and estimate for the installation of a comfort system (furnace and central a/c unit) in our home. The technician arrived on time and completed the inspection, leaving us with a written, detailed estimate. It seemed like a fair price and after receiving a few other estimates, we decided to use E H Roberts (Mr. Comfort). I had a few questions, so I called their office and spoke with a girl who said she would get answers to the questions I had. I waited for a return call and never received it, so 3 days later I called back and told her that I had spoken with a friend who told me to ask why they quoted me for a size of furnace that was way too large for my home (100,000 btu, needed 70,00 btu max) and she became VERY RUDE and responded with "who are they, are they professionals? we know our job, why would you ask someone else when you called us for the job?" I was shocked, actually the friend IS a PROFESSIONAL HVAC EXPERT, they just live in PA and couldn't do the job here! All of the other quotes we received were for smaller furnaces (the largest being 80,000 btu) and we didn't realize that having a unit that is too large for the home actually makes the unit LESS efficient and costs more to keep the home comfortable. We thought we were getting a bigger, better unit which would mean less gas to heat the home....we were very wrong. So, I told her that and she said she would get back to me after she spoke with the tech that quoted our job, needless to say, she NEVER called back. For all of her concern if I had spoken with a professional...she sure was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!!As previously stated, the tech was professional, but the office staff was rude and I would NEVER use them for any work. I feel that it is my job as a consumer to get as much information as possible about something I don't know much about if I am spending $10,000.00 of my HARD EARNED money!!!!! Who is she to question why I would seek additional quotes or information? If they are so confident in their quote, why wouldn't her response have been something along the lines of wow, that's a big difference, let me have the tech call you and discuss your concerns?? HMMM....Just sayin'
Description of Work: No work was performed. After an inspection was completed and an estimate given, we decided to use their company, but after further interactions with them the decision to go with a competitor was made.

I have used them previously and have liked them. However, about 5-6 years ago, they had a new management. They were brought out by another company. Since then, their service has gone down. They are prompt on coming out to fix a problem, but I have found them to be dishonest and misleading since the new management. The last time I used them, I spent about $100. they came out and examined the furnace and told me that I had a small gas leak. The fan had burnt out. They told me that I needed to buy a new furnace immediately. I didn?t feel comfortable with that because previously they had examined my air conditioner and had told me that I needed a new unit. The air conditioner was less than three years old. It had only been used for nine months. They told me that it was in a bad shape and that I needed a new one. So, I noticed that they were pressurizing me to buy a new unit. They were into selling rather than fixing things. Another company told me that there was nothing wrong with my air conditioner. Later, I found out that I had had a large gas leak. It could have been life threatening and they missed it entirely. Their prices were a little high. Now, I wonder if they made me pay for the repairs I didn?t need. They used to come out twice a year. They come out quickly in an emergency situation, but for a routine checkup, they are not very prompt. They are currently living off the reputation of the previous owner. I have canceled any future services with them. If they try to sign you up for maintenance agreement, they come out twice a year. They will deduct the amount automatically from your credit card. I didn?t like that feature about them. I will not use them again in the future.

I have had a contract with E H Roberts for a number of years now and I pay them around $11 a month. They are responsive, as they come out right away if something breaks. They come out in fall to inspect the furnace and inspect the AC before summer starts. They are punctual, as they have always been on time.
Description of Work: I use the services of E H Roberts Company to inspect my furnace and also my air conditioner once a year. They had come out about a couple of weeks ago and they came out today to install a couple of parts that I needed.

INITIALLY RESPONDED FOR EMERGENCY SERVICE. SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND WERE VERY FAIR IN THE PRICING. JUST CHARGED THE SERVICE CHARGE ON THE EMERGENCY, COULD HAVE CHARGED A LOT MORE. PRICE LISTED REFLECTS AIR CONDITIONING RECHARGE INCLUDING NEW FREON.
